Can we change Magnificent Howl/the weapons with it?

It's been about 7 months since Forsaken and the last batch of big balance changes. For those 7 months, the meta has stayed consistently the same, especially on console. It's so depressing seeing at least 2 or 3 Luna's Howls or Not Forgottens a match, especially since all these weapons are too powerful. The worst thing going from D1 Crucible now to D2 Crucible is that everything was viable in D1. In D2 you're basically punishing yourself if you don't use Luna's Howl or Not Forgotten. Back in D1, you could go in with stupid stuff like a 900 rpm Auto Rifle and a sidearm and still not feel too crippled because they could still hold their own in a fight. In D2, the main weapons that can consistently get you wins in duels are 180 hand cannons, especially Luna's Howl or Not Forgotten. Using the unconventional like a scout rifle or a bow or an auto rifle or basically anything else will get you stomped on nearly every time. In quick play especially, the loadout mentioned before is so BS to go against. Quickplay is supposed to be a bit more of a relaxed experience, but because these weapons are so overused it's really hard to have fun unless you're using these weapons. Even though every multiplayer game is going to have a meta, when that meta is dominating every part of your game (opposed to the areas it's designed for) as well as completely ruin the area they were designed for, that's when we need some major changes. You overnerf Nova Warp, overnerf Blade Barrage and Shards of Galanor (in PVE anyways), but we don't get any nerfs to the Crucible breaking perk of Magnificent Howl. Comparing Magnificent Howl to all over primary pinnacle perks (Master of Arms, Desperado, Onslaught and Meganeura), all the bracketed perks are powerful, but aren't broken. Master of Arms and Desperado require a kill beforehand and force you to be mega-aggressive to take advantage of the perk. Onslaught nerfs Breakneck in Crucible because of reasons? And Meganeura doesn't do anything in Crucible other than lower someone in the middle of a Dragonfly explosion a bit more than normal. Magnificent Howl is too easy to trigger, is too easy to keep up because headshots with 180 hand cannons are extremely easy to get, is far too effective what it can do and it is doesn't make you change how to play with it when you get Magnificent Howl to activate. Anyone else who doesn't have Luna's Howl or Not Forgotten has to agree that constantly going against people with those weapons is horrible because we don't have that too-easy-to-use weapon with an insane TTK. The only way for people who don't have Luna's to keep up is to get a Service Revolver with Kill Clip, and that's based on RNG. An RNG which really doesn't like any of the players apart of PC streamers. All other "competitive weapons" still have a TTK higher than 0.67 seconds, and the ones that do have that 0.67 TTK need specific circumstances, like having a damage perk active. If any Bungie devs actually see this post, I really hope you take these critiques in a positive direction, and I hope this gets other people who have problems with Luna's Howl or Not Forgotten to speak out about their issues too.

  • Everyone complains about the Luna's and NF, but have any of these people actually used them? At least Luna's, because I own a Luna's at it gets out ranged by Ace/Thorn/Kindled Orchid/any other hand cannon with more range, ffs even last word feels like it has more range. With Luna's I have to be close up to be able to consistently kill with it, which is honestly the reason why I haven't used it as much, Id rather run a last word and a sniper or a better devils.

    • its funny how the vast majority of people complaining about this, are the same ones that don't have the gun. Stop crying, you have no right to ask for a nerf on something that you dont have or refuse to put in the work/time to get. Get good at the game and stop bitching on forums

      • Magnificent Howl perk should have never been created. These guns break the game. Landing 2 precision hits for a 3 tap kill is not a difficult condition to meet . . . thats actually what you just naturally do with handcannons otherwise theyre not effective.

          Bro the easiest fix to this is lower our max health by 8 points keeps that weapon there at that ttk and makes every other weapon way more consistent and competitive

        • I’ve got Luna’s Howl, however, I’ve got the common decency to not use it in QP. If people are truly skilled, they’ll be able to kick the majority of players’ ass no matter what guns they use. I use my Luna’s in comp, then never again until the next season. It’s not fun and stimulating to use, unlike the recluse

          • Said it before and I’ll take it to the grave but there’s no weapon variety in Destiny PvP and there’s such strict “metas” because you people CHOOSE to use the same stuff. You people CHOOSE to make it that way. You say everything was viable in D1 yet everyone used the same thing like they do now; like children. In vanilla it was autos. In HOW it was hand cannons. Around TTK it was pulse rifles. In D2 it was MiDA and Uriel’s for vanilla. For a while it was Graviton Lance. People choose to use the same thing over and over and that’s the community’s fault.

            • I have Luna and I don't use it often in Quickplay. I use Jotun instead with light reactor. Imo Jotun is much better.

            • I agree with you. I have the gun myself, but I purposely don’t use it out of principle. Its dirty and kills at ranges a hand cannon should never kill at... Plus it makes the meta ridiculously stale to see people who have the AUDACITY to use not forgotten in quickplay...

            • Solution is, leave them alone and give autos and scouts wicked flinch then they will compete fine. When the Luna user is flinching all over the place from your auto it will be fair and slightly more realistic

              • Make Lunas howl an exotic, have the extra range be a master work and the not forgotten look be an ornament. It's still strong but atleast it will limit the guns they can run like wardcliffed coil or chaperone. Also give it less shots in a magazine since it can three tap already. This will make it less forgiving, making it take more skill to use but still rewarding if you land your headshots.

                • Ummm, maybe you just need to get better ... I have the gun and don't ever use it anymore - there are so many things to use - I'm not trying to be a dick either. If you're challenging any handcannon in their optimal range, you're hurting yourself. Play outside their range. Scouts, pulses, bows; all of them are very good right now. Watch TrueVanguard, he only uses off-meta stuff; watch how he plays with something you're interested in and try it out.

                • Overnerf blade barrage with the self damage and weighted damage on the explosion. Only the self damage was a nerf and otherwise it didn't lose anything. Stop crying about a useless nerf

                        • “D1 crucible was awesome!!” It was awful. Not everything was viable st all. OHK easy to use sticky grenades. NLB and Wormwood were HUGE Meta. Shotguns were another HUGE meta. Trespasser was meta. It was awful. If you [i]didnt[/i] use those stuff during its corresponding time it was the meta then you were most likely going to lose.

                            I'd like for them to be turned into Lightweight, 150 RPM Hand Cannons with some stat adjustments to be honest. Precision Frames were a mistake.

                          • Don't nerf Luna and NF. Instead we can make them irrelevant by giving AOS the PC recoil and bloom on consoles and make it consistently 2 tap when Memento Mori is active regardless of resilience.

                              I’m about to get my Luna’s howl today, I’m on the precision kills I only need like 50 left so it should only take me a few matches. Let’s hope I get clash or control and not countdown. I already got to fabled so I was matching against people with not forgotten to getting the hand cannon precision kills can be a little annoying especially when I’m using a trust and I land three headshots in a row and right as I’m about to get my fourth I’ve already been three tapped but that’s the trade off for getting fabled out of the way early. I completed the recluse quest completely by accident while going for the Luna’s howl. I’m nowhere near the mountaintop cuz that quest is long and I don’t feel like doing it.

                            • I have Luna’s but I personally prefer the last word when I play because I have a better experience when I use a gun that I need to hip fire rather than a gun that can kill 3 people in seconds I like having fun so this isn’t a problem to me. But you need to remember these are pinnacle weapons for comp I don’t think Bungie will plan on changing them due to this
