Competitive matchmaking

Please for the love of god stop putting full fireteams of four against full teams of randoms. I understand that Bungie wants to promote team play but for some people like soloing is all they got a lot of times. Put fireteams vs fireteams for matchmaking. If you’re in a 4-man team, have matchmaking pit them against another 4 man team. If one team has 3-fireteams and 1 random, have the same for the other team. Mirror the fireteam count for each side. That makes things fair

  • This should be a lockout for people who back out of cues as full fireteam so they don't go against other fire teams of four

  • Or just reduce the penalty altogether. Make it like the Gambit ranking system - no wins mean no points.

      • This isn’t possible without completely destroying matchmaking for full fireteams. The solution is to give solo queue players a bigger bonus for winning against teams and smaller penalty for losing against them.

        • I feel what a lot of people are saying but having a team isnt the easiest at times, like people got lives and schedules dont always line up. I play with atleast one other friend to help balance stuff out a little because I'd like to think of my Friend and I are pretty decent at PvP. But its ridiculous when you join a game at a disadvantage before it started, like Ive been facing 4 stack teams with only 3 people on my time including myself. In most cases the fourth teammate that I was missing most likely is the sole reason we lost. I dont care for four stacks with or against them I genuinely dont care but atleast just give me a full team I can work with having to pick up the slack of a completely missing entity of my team is ridiculous when pitted against evenly matched or slightly better enemies than myself/friend. Especially in gamemodes like Clash or Control, being a man down is a signifigant punishment, because it is still possible to win with a man down in Survival/Countdown although much harder in most cases but more likely than in Clash/Control. I dont see a reason why the game should start with a player missing on either team to be honest. Please Bungie either make two full teams of 4 against each other or just go back to a 3v3 model for competitive PvP because it seems your matchmaking has an easier time of atleast finding 3 people per team for every match compared to 4. Tired of losing Glory points for something that is entirely out of my control since the matchmaking decided to be lazy and say screw it you dont get a 4th teammate. Its Ridiculous. Please Bungie either 3v3s or give both teams 4 players instead of handicapping a team

        • Bro comp is easy, I matched against full stacks of not forgotten every single match until I got to fabled solo. They weren’t difficult to beat.

          • The upcoming gambit matchmaking changes should also be applied to pvp. The community has been asking for this for so long.

            • I agree, so many other competitive games have this. People always say get teams bla bla bla. I don't need a team for overwatch or league of legends or rainbow but I need one for destiny? I can't be bothered to play with randoms on lfg as well, too much pressure and losing one game just breaks up the whole team.

            • Honestly if your going in to comp with the goal of hitting fabled or higher then get a team. Join an active clan and form a team you can gel with. Going in solo and complaining about teams, in a team based fame mode is fruitless.

              Comp is based around skill and teamwork. If your good enough, you can do good in solo. If not, when you play solo, you do bad because no teamwork with randoms. So if you don't have the skill to play solo then go find a group. They won't make the game easier for solos because they are not good enough to play solo and refuse to find a group.

            • There arent enough people or enough of a reason for this. Solo vs solo i can get behind, but asking for 3+1 vs 3+1? Thats never going to happen. That would only extend queue times and end up in way worse bias on connection quality, meaning worse games over all.

            • comp should be single player matchmaking and matches us with randoms .....quickplay and comp should come as one so that all playerbase are all in the same section so more ppl be able to advance higher, that is true FAIR competition, i dont know what there comp even is anymore smh.

              • Also, split competitive into a clash/control playlist and a countdown/survival game mode. Nothing worse than having to even play just one game of countdown. Who seriously finds that game mode fun at all? So freaking boring.
