If you are PVE player don't bother doing the thorn quest
The reason why I say this is Bungie thought it was a good idea to have comp and iron banner be the fastest way to complete that part of the quest which I think is the last step. I did a crucible match of quickplay and only got 2% at that rate it's going to take ages to get it done so you're pretty much required to go into comp for iron banner. I still don't understand why Bungie doesn't have the concept or the understanding of options, you have to choose your allegiance in the quest so, if you're choosing the vanguard you should do vanguard objectives, if you choose drifter than that requires gambit and pvp objectives. It's really not that hard to have options but Bungie doesn't want that. I literally wasted my time thinking by choosing vanguard I would be doing vanguard objectives but I'm here to tell you it is not, so don't waste your time if you don't want to do pvp. I abandon the quest you got me again Bungie thanks for the false advertisement putting a vanguard symbol on the thorn quest

25 RepliesMate you only had 8 kills using only one void weapon, which was a bow. We’ll be generous and say you got 5 void kills. That means it’s only 100 kills for completion, that’s not too bad, especially with no death penalty.

Can relate to this am on 2% also found TLW easier even with death mechanic too much of a chore crucible personally preferred the Last Word Crucible step than this.

The idea that bungie is introducing another version of the quest line for this weapon is not just insulting but dam right out rages. Not only they have discredited the achievements of those that earned the thorn before but continue to want to push pvp down the throats of everyone just to serve a minority as it stands now destiny has no future all because of bungie lack of foresight for the community

Yeah I knew i wasn't doing it since last week when the steps were out. I actually don't mind bungie locking quest behind gambit or pvp. Just less shit for me to do. Frees me to play other games while I wait for new pve only activities to come to D2. Ace, thorn, TLW, Malf, Chaperone. Its fun to see the list grow.

Don't bother grinding for this weapon it will get nerft just like in D1 Crucibabies will always be the ball and chain to this game always there to make sure this franchise nosedives into the ground.

2 RepliesWhy would it make sense that the pvp should be the drifter? The vanguard would be more likely to me as shaxx is a guardian who runs it but whatever. If pvp is so much of a pain that it dictated your alligiance decision, I don't know what to tell you...25 guardian kills isn't going to take you all season (I hope) and I haven't gotten there yet, but I'm betting assists count as well. If so, just stick to a teammate and get a shot or two on people. It's not like they asked you to reach fabled in glory for the quest.

Is it not the number of kills you get using a void handcannon is meant to be the fastest way(as well as comp and iron banner)

If so did you spec out to get ya those void kills? Is it asking for hand cannon kills? How it progresses might be dependent on how well you are set up to do it. Just looked it up and if it is what I saw there it is the void section you are talking about. That means you should equip a void hand cannon and use a void subclass all the way.
