Strikes were a big part of D1? I thought you ran the weekly and the Nightfall just like in D2....

We did them for diffrent reasons. In year one you needed vangaurd reputaion and vangaurd marks to get weapons. I ran Vangaurd tiger strikes to get marks for a LDR the vendor was selling. You could run Vangaurd Roc and Dragon strikes to get new DLC gear (hopstoch pilgrim). The Heroic strikes were ran for strange coins and Ascendant Materials. The Nightfall was for the chance of very powerful gear.
-
Yeah I know what they could be ran for, I just find it hard to believe people actually loaded the game up to grind strikes.
-
Maybe you had odd friends? everyone I know played strikes either for currency/mats or gear, eventually we still ran them for fun with wierd loadouts like sidearm only etc. Playing for gear is ok but Bungie routinely make everything obsolete, the only redeeming quality in this badly managed turd of a game is the fun shooting aliens.
-
No we played a lot of Crucible until year 3 when they broke it. Strikes aren't fun after you run them 100s of times.
-
I think it’s just that there’s more sources for legendaries and I like that a lot more.
-
Yep. That's more blind nostalgia to D1 that's entirely unjustified. Never farmed strikes in D1. There was no point.

-
4th best mg, at best
-
Yeah had a few of those, never grinded for it though.
-
Edited by jcald--: 3/4/2019 7:40:23 PMI guess some people did, man I'm glad I play everything in the game.
-
What about the strike specific loot?? I farmed strikes all the time
-
The only rolls that mattered were for Crucible and the vendors sold guns better than the strike weapons. The grasp may be the exception but you could grind the Nightfall for that if you wanted.
-
You could still get cool looking armor that made you look not so generic like most ppl.
-
The specific gear? Most of it was ugly. The ps exclusive gear was where it was at.
-
And you said most of it was ugly but what about the few that weren’t ugly? Don’t you think it’s still cool that you can get unique armor?
-
I disagree I think it looked cool
-
The strike specific armor was worth grinding for. Theosyion Vibrissae, Devouring Maw, Darkblade's Helm, Psion Cloaks, etc.
-
For what? For an inferior weapon that you're never going to slot? There is 1 exception to that, and even then it was famous for being the closest thing to a Fatebringer in the game. Even the only viable one had no validity on its own. Since forsaken with the advent of the collections tab, there's a reason to get shit weapons. Why do it in D1? Auto dismantle.

Barron's Ambition. Second best mg there was and easy to farm due to heroic strikes.
