Why are you so mad that a PvP focused weapon is locked behind quest steps that require you to PvP?
It’s not that you are into PvP right? So even if TLW was gifted to you except from maybe using it once or twice for fun you wouldn’t know what to do with it other than put it in your vault.
So why are you so mad? It’s a PvP gun. It requires PvP to be obtained. Even if it didn’t, it would still be a PvP gun. A mode in which you’re not interested in. So why all the hate?

unlike most pve players, i won't get TLW and store it in my vault, i will use it anywhere as ong as its my highest level weapon which i will make sure of that or try to at least.

Because it is the only new content for the moment that bungie can come up with that and thorn and hawk moon and that is the sad state of this game

1 ReplyI’m mainly PVE, but I do some crucible. I don’t have a problem with doing PvP to get the last word, if u want the gun do the quest and get the reward. If u don’t want the gun then don’t do the quest simple

Edited by SmashvilleViking: 2/1/2019 1:14:14 AMShow me where it says that TLW is a PvP weapon... Ace of Spades isn't a PvP weapon, but we still have to do PvP. I personally don't care, but can someone actually show me proof that TLW is a "PvP" weapon? It was a random drop in D1. Pinnacle weapons like Claymore and NF are PvP weapons. Most of the TLW quest is PvE. It's almost like people make stuff up as they go. Most people don't even consider IB weapons to be "PvP" weapons. Again, I personally don't care about TLW, but there is nothing saying that it's a PvP weapon. Unless you go into the lore behind TLW, but even then, it doesn't have to do with PvP.

4 RepliesThe game is Pve in the first place. Plus the fact that PvP is broken. Its a terrible idea plain and simple.
-
Maybe collections. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
i understand that its a pvp weapon but what i dont understand is why people go hardcore in a regular crucible match playlist. and im fine with pvp in a quest it may take me a bit but not when i die by getting spawn killed and other bullshit.
-
I got rid of that quest because I am not going to bother with anything PvP related.
-
4 RepliesHonestly? Perception. PvP accounts for a small minority of the player base. But it outwardly "appears" to be the primary source of every nerf/buff that comes along. People perceive this as PvPers are wankers and deserve nothing. To be fair they are partially correct. There are wankers in PvP. But there are plenty in PvE too.
-
Honestly i would use ace of spades over LW in pve.
-
Don’t let a small percentage of people who are upset ruin things for the rest. I hate pvp but I get when a quest step goes that way. It dosent force us to get the gun just makes us work harder for it. Pvp people if they want all exotics have to go through many things I bet they hate so fair is fair.

1 ReplyHonestly, I think it's an ego thing. I have a friend who will do the most annoying and frustrating PVE challenges and not blink, but ten minutes in Crucible and I'm almost ready to mute him because it's 'unfair' that he doesn't mop up the opposing fireteam like a swarm of Thralls under a Thunderlord barrage. It's shotguns, Exotics, supers, heavies -- whatever killed him last, it's all unfair. Me, I think he just doesn't like to be reminded that he's not *really* the unique god-killer chosen one demigod snowflake that the PVE story constantly reinforces ... nothing knocks you off your pedestal faster than a couple Crucible losses. I like both halves of the experience, it just depends on the kind of mood I'm in. I'm not that good at Crucible -- 'average' might be generous most days -- but it takes being able to learn from your mistakes and being willing to experiment with all the different options to find something that works consistently well for you ... and it probably isn't going to be the exact same loadout / class / subclass that you favor for PVE. Try something new and different. It's a challenge, just like any other PVE aspect of the game -- albeit that the enemy here is a lot more unpredictable and often has more firepower. It's not like this quest is a limited-time thing, so if it gets tedious, take a break from it. Or stress out because you're too impatient and want the bragging rights of having finished it two days after it went live.

14 RepliesPvE players aren't mad because the quest requires PvP quest steps (and I have yet to read a thread that says so). No, we are pissed off because of the aggressive loss mechanic that has been included in the quest step that makes it such an arduous and tedious chore. PvEers are not PvP gods - but to progress in this quest Bungie is expecting PvEers to come up against hoards of experienced PvP players with their Lunas and Not Forgottens and somehow compete - and not just compete - but prevail, otherwise, our progression in the quest goes backwards. THIS IS NOT FUN.

I just want my Hawkmoon.

3 RepliesSome players collect exotics and want all of them for their collections. Other players don't give a crap what a weapon may be best for, they like using it. And are the same players that complain about the meta, the same players that say the Last Word is only for pvp? Sounds hypocritical to me.

Cause they bad man. Just git good. https://destinytracker.com/d2/profile/psn/Mors_messor https://raid.report/ps/Mors_Messor

2 RepliesI'm not mad. I'll do without it. Bungies attempts to get me playing Crucible arent working. Hell, their attemps to get me to play PvE are barely working.
-
Well being a mostly pve player, I’m just mad about the “dying” part. I just want a decent chance at getting it without the stress of losing all my progress. I’m ok with playing crucible. It’s just that one thing. Getting medals shouldn’t be to hard though. And I actually do want to try Last word in pve, just for fun

3 RepliesI play PvE WAY more than PvP, but I enjoy playing Crucible every now and then, especially because I'm a masochist who loves to use snipers in PvP, but I mostly do PvE. And from what I heard from my friends who are still doing the PvP bits, the problem isn't simply playing Crucible, but the fact that regardless of how much you progressed, you can lose all of it if you get a death streak, after all, it's not like the matchmaking will think twice before putting 6 solo players against a stack of six, all using Luna's Howl (literally me yesterday after I got the gun and went back to Crucible by myself to test it) but, getting back to the point, me and four friends grinded from reset to midnight (keep in mind that where I live, the weekly/daily reset is at 3pm) and while me and one friend got it by 11pm, one of the others still had 3% on the first Crucible step by about 8pm because he kept getting death streaks. And there are people who don't even want it for PvP (because they hate Crucible) and just like to use it because it's fun, regardless of the mode you're playing (as long as it's not PvP) for example, my uncle used to have Last Word in his primary slot 24/7 back in D1 because he loved the look and feel of the gun. And me too slightly, I used it on D1 exclusively for PvE because I hated PvP and I was terrible at it, I only ever started to play PvP at the end of D2's first year (even though I hated the double primary system) And while I had no trouble doing the Crucible steps, I understand that it is extremely frustrating to struggle for hours to make progress and it cancelling out because you died a bunch of times. The quest is fine, but losing progress every time you die will be a brick wall for people who just want to get it and never set foot in Crucible ever again.

Probably because it’s a exotic and well bungie made a big deal about it.

5 RepliesIt’s not a PvP focused weapon and never has been. Just because a weapon is good in the crucible because it’s OP or a natural counter to a strong strategy doesn’t make it a “PvP” weapon. The chaperone, redrix claymore/broadsword, Luna’s howl, and Not Forgotten are PVP weapons. The last word was a world drop exotic you could get it from anything, not a quest exotic for PvP.
-
3 RepliesI think, that we all pay money for the game. When a weapon is not attainable, the level playing field of players will just go somewhere else and play other games. If this is the product of change, then ppl will voice their opinion.
-
3 RepliesWhat I find bizarre is how some people seem surprised it has crucible steps attached to it. Like y'all saw the video preview. I knew as soon as they announced its return it would have pvp quest steps attached to it. Its a pvp centric weapon. Note I said pvp centric rather than pvp only. Do y'all not remember all the threads calling for a LW nerf in D1? Point of context here: I'm a filthy pve casual.
-
3 RepliesI'd really just like to play the later stages of the quest ...... the PVE ones, without having to endure the repetitiveness of grinding the crucible. I don't even like hand cannnons.
-
Exactly. It was trash in D1 pve, it will be trash again. I'll get it eventually for the collection, but I don't understand the rage at the moment.
