Competitive Crucible Matchmaking Update - 1/15/2019
Today, we have adjusted matchmaking settings in Competitive Crucible.
Matchmaking parameters have been changed so that the opponents you find in Competitive matchmaking will be closer to your Glory rank. While the imbalanced match can still happen, we believe this change will reduce the number of occurrences dramatically. [b]Players may experience longer matchmaking times as we will try to ensure a good Glory rank match before opening up the search criteria. [/b]

I dont play pvp but if i did inwould want to start off like wtf and end up making other people wtf. Basically yall want to remain in perpetual state of equality with the other team. Eff that... Eyes up guardian, here comes a full team all 4100 ready to make you cry for quickplay, and guess what, one day you will be the one making other people post pussy ass shit like ,"wahh, i have to fight people who are good at the game wahhh". We’re always improving the game and your feedback helps steer the conversation.[/quote] Networking issues aside, most of the people I see bothered by this are of higher rank sweaties who are used to stomping everyone and now they are frustrated because they actually have to play people of similar rank. Someone posted something like "what's the point of getting good if you can't easily beat people". Er, WTF, it's called "competitive" for a reason. In sport the higher level the athlete or team, the higher level are the ones they compete against. You don't see them crying because they aren't allowed to play against amateurs. The only problem I see (apart from changing accounts and cheating) is that player populations are too small to make matchmaking against people of similar skill consistent.

Please change comp back to the way it was. I’m playing comp and watching friends play camp and they are at 1400 and playing people that are around 4700.

Yes the thing you use to choose your weapons and open Engrams is a mouse. Always make sure it lines up with the engram Icon in the centre to get the best rewards. I got a Play Of The Game Grenade Launcher and it looks amazing.

7 RepliesI don’t normally comment at all, however with this update my glory, which wasn’t very high, I think it was around 500 points maybe. It has dropped down to 0 in the last week. I’ve never reset my glory rank, so explain to me why I constantly come across teams that have Luna’s howl, or Not forgotten? That makes zero sense. I should ONLY be playing against guardians who have a similar glory rank to me correct? So how does someone like me who currently has a glory of 50 😭 match with ANYONE who has a Luna’s howl? This seems to be a pretty regular occurance. Not occasional at all.

Edited by akura555: 1/22/2019 7:50:53 PMGlory rank doesn't matter for match making. Only stats do. A 1.5 kd is equal to a 1.25 kills against deaths. How? Let me explain. I took a 1.5 kills against deaths and added in a 1.0 assistance rate for team kills. For 5 is equal to 1 always and 1 is equal to 3 and so on. From there I did this: 1.5+1=2.5. 2.5÷2=1.25. 1.25×3=3.75. 3.75÷2=1.875. 1.875÷3=0.625. 0.625×2=1.25 KD. This is how math truly works to balance the game. You are welcome everyone. Yours Truly J.W.

I love how this post states that matchmaking will be more based on glory points closer to yours but literally every match I do is like 1000+ above my points (2100 pretty much) sometimes match against people at 5500 and majority of the time people in China lol. This matchmaking “adjustment” simply isn’t working and I’m sure there’s other people out there who would agree.

1 ReplyFix the heavy ammo!! Make it twice per game and once every 3 rounds this is ridiculous in competitive. My 99% of my deaths is from heavy ammo.

You’re already asking players to sweat their balls off once you hit these ranks, why should we gain fewer points for a win and lose more points for a loss? ESPECIALLY since the Guardian-Fabled is 2100 points while Fabled-Legend is 3400 points. If anything, the point system should reward you for getting that far since 99% of the players in comp quit after Fabled. There’s nothing in between Fabled and Legend so why not at least give us more points for winning against tougher competition. The point system welcomes to toxicity. Players have to either immediately click as a team or be punished. I doubt anyone in Bungie’s dev team has a NF they didn’t either give themselves or paid for. It’s honestly just torture unless you run super stacked and even then it’s a crapshoot once you hit Mid 3000s.

I personally think comp should be like Gambit in the way you rank up win or lose you get points. Winning gets you ranked faster then losing it takes longer to rank. Say winning gets you 50 or 75 points losing gets you 10 to 20 points. That is my opinion

Just played a 3v4 and it only took a minute or so to find the match! I'll easily wait 5 or more mins for a solid, fair 4v4 match. Just cancel it if it's 3v4 in the first 20 secs it can't be that difficult to do!?

How about everyone just gets matched against similar players based on your accounts PVP average, no resets, just a costant fluid rank. If you want to give rewards then do it for number of wins, kills and such.
