You might read the title and say some bs like "well it has pvp and competitive so why not..." I will address that shortly but first let me ask you something. Why out of every shooter on the market, all of which have PVP do you choose the loot shooter to be serious about pvp in? Seriously battlefield, CoD, Overwatch, everything else out as it comes to shooters is PVP based entirely. They don't have any serious PVE to focus on. Hell most of them barely have anything you could call a story anymore. All their eggs are in the pvp basket. Go there.
Now let me ask you why do you think Trials hasn't returned? Why do you think custom games haven't been seriously expanded on to at least reach Halo 2 or 3 levels which are games Bungie made 10 plus years ago and had better custom games? Why do you think when a new expansion is coming they show a bunch of story stuff, a raid teaser, a strike or two, and then maybe show off a pvp map along with a new exotic weapon or a cool armor set they want you to see? It's because the game is and should be PVE centric. It should and always will be the focus. In fact if D3 leaks are to be believed pvp might be open World only. Something I wanted since the beginning.
Stop banking on this games pvp. If that's seriously the "replayability" keeping you here you might as well quit. We have three different horde mode activities, 3 raids, 2 lairs, a dungeon and other things like the Whisper quest to replay. Not to mention strikes which I believe need some improving. PVP is a fun little side activity and that's it. They made competitive with hopes of Esports but that's a joke. It will always be a joke in a lootshooter game with inherent imbalance. Play it for fun. Don't take it so seriously and whine for nerfs.
Edit: a lot of butthurt as expected. I never said remove pvp. I said stop complaining, you can't even agree on the changes. All of a sudden some of you want shotguns gone again. In case you forgot people hated the two primary system which was created because of pvp whining. Same with making many abilities, grenades, melee, recharge rates all weaker. Same with strong exotic weapons.

I'm glad someone said it. Too bad the PvE content in D2 isnt that great IMO. That has multiple reasons behind it but its pretty much stuff we've all said a thousand times. I may have quit, but forum posts like this remind there is SOME good in the Destiny Mob still.

2 RepliesPeople like the PvP for the gunplay and the weapon variety.. The gunplay is quite a bit different than COD or Battlefield.
-
41 RepliesEdited by BoyarD: 1/4/2019 2:09:38 AMSo what do you do once you've done all the other activities? Strikes are boring, raids are boring, gambit is repetitive. Once you have the things you want, I feel there is absolutely nothing to do besides playing PvP. Every game is different because you are playing against different people, who also play differently. If they got rid of PvP, I know I would be gone. I love the other activities but PvP makes me stay. Edit:
I'm gonna say it! People who don't like crucible are generally bad at it. Facts
11 RepliesNot a pvp centric game? Then why all the BEST GUNS IN THE GAME come from PVP? Lunas, Redrix, NF, Ace also require PVP to be played, and so on Please do explain this to me!
-
Here we go with more crucible complaining
-
Agreed. Crucible had potential, but the terrible matchmaking coupled with the disgusting amounts of elitism and tryhards in the community have made it much, much much more trouble than it's worse. Especially considering the fact that this game has no real competitive scene and likely never will. When a gun in a game is literally locked out unless I play in a group of sweaty, toxic kids on discord to get to max glory, there's an issue. When people look up you're stats like they're the FBI doing a background check and have no idea how to actually read the numbers they're looking at, it's a serious problem.

Edited by CookieNiki: 1/3/2019 9:43:13 PM
Let me make this clear, this isn't a PVP centric game
True. It never was and will never be. Also this game would have been much better, since it's beginning, had Bungie made the decision of keeping PvP completely separated from PvE.
In case you forgot people hated the two primary system which was created because of pvp whining. Same with making many abilities, grenades, melee, recharge rates all weaker. Same with strong exotic weapons.
100% spot on! Catering to PvP was the main reason why D2 was launched as it was.
-
5 RepliesBungie have made the massive mistake of almost trying to base most of it around pvp, for D3 they MUST SEPARATE THE TWO. We're sick of our weapons being messed with because bleating heart pvp players cry Nerf. Until they can make weapons perform differently within the two areas this game will never grow too the lofty heights we know it can attain. I do not want my Tolesto suddenly performing 💩 in pve, fix your code bungie so this can be done.

2 RepliesEdited by Pocket Infinity (Timelost): 1/3/2019 3:29:13 PMPvP can stay. I just wish they separated the balancing
-
I’m gonna be honest this changed the way I look at it. Thanks for the new perspective.

1 ReplyBut Destiny's core is PVP! You can see that with the dedicated servers, speed to deal with cheaters and DDoS'ers (Clay, someone?) and seriousness that Bungie deals with balance (remember 1KYS? The weapon that Bungie ADMITTED was fine and yet got nerfed? Or The Truth, that, literally, NO ONE asked to be nerfed, and was anyways?) PvP is the cancer of this game. It would be better if both modes (PvP and PvE) were balanced apart and dedicated servers implemented, but Bungie is too lazy for this.
-
1 ReplyIts funny how cancerous these replies are lmao.

I hardly if ever play crucible, last night i was playing just to get the engram. My team was losing clash like 60 to 10 so I started fooling around. I finally got a kill and T-Bagged the guy. He messages me after the match swearing at me and making fun of my K/D. I was like whatever guy it's a game not real life, it's not like you lost any money from my T-Bag. He then admitted he makes money from recovs...
-
if all of bungie resources were dumped into pve, the game would be in a far better place with perk diversity, exotic power level, and super strength.
-
We don't need the game anymore boring then it is. Bungie screwed themselves far in advance before pvp ever did. Since the launch of d1's beta
-
1 ReplyI love how all the pvp players are coming together in this post, yet every other forum post on here is them arguing about nerfs and OPness of classes. Literally calling each other huntards and having class turf wars that sound like they are in kindergarten. Yet in this post they love pvp to death all of a sudden? Funny...If it is here to stay, then maybe you guys should start enjoying it rather then cry every day of your lives about it.

1 ReplyHow many likes so far? I'm just curious of the upvote/downvote mix.

Seriously? You're telling people to quit, or play a different game, if they enjoy the replayability of PvP. Everyone thinks they are playing the game the "right" way. That's fine, you do you, but don't assume that the way you play should be the same as anyone/everyone else. Destiny is a game about choice, and it can be whatever you want it to be. Some people choose to play PvP, while others focus entirely on the PvE side. I'm 650 light on my warlock, and every high level drop is just a new roll on something I already have. If it's a PvP roll, I try it out in crucible. If it's PvE, I'll take it to Strikes. If it's a hybrid roll, welcome to the Gambit show.
Play it for fun. Don't take it so seriously and whine for nerfs.
Let me fix that for you. Play it for fun. Don't take it so seriously and whine about what other people like.
-
Only reason why I play PvP and others I play with is for the pinnacle weapons. Without them I would just do my weekly PvP milestone and move on. Shit, they had to inflate there terrible PvP numbers with there PVE player base some how. Lets be real here Luna's and NF are currently keeping PvP alive and mountain top to a smaller degree. Most of my friends only sweated out PvP for Luna's cause its an amazing PVE handcannon. I prefer my trust over Luna's for PvP
-
As a pvp player 1st i have always felt that the potential of pve has been held back by the games pvp. Hence the horrible D2 launch. The 2 primary system was bungies way of trying to become "mlg". It backfired big time. I personaly love pvp as it stands now as well as pve stuff, but if they solely put focus on pve it would be amazing.
-
Sorry but it actually needs both. without pvp this franchise would have dried up years ago. There’s just too much time in between content releases. The PvP side also keeps players grinding some PvE events for god roll weapons. And I play Pve 80% of the time.
-
Sadly it isn't PvP centric but Bungie keeps trying to make it that way because they are delusional with "MLG Destiny".
-
pvp is 50% of the game. The world does not revolve around you. And pvp is the only reason Destiny survived as a franchise. So pvp has it's issues, just like pve but its not less than pve. They are equal, one part is not more important than the other.
-
11 RepliesI and many of my Destiny friends, play primarily for the PVP. For me the PVE is a side show, useful for levelling and getting weapons to try in PVP. I’ve not touched the raids in D2 and have no real interest in doing so. The reason I chose Destiny is that the gun-play is far superior to other PVP games, all IMHO.
-
You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about if you think PVP is a side activity. Have you not seen the size of the PVP quests 😂🤦🏻♂️
-
Theres more PvE content then pvp. Hell, pvp is like any else pvp, you shoot and have game modes. PvP meta is great right now and I am fine with it. Trials has not returned because its being worked for a better experince, Cozmo has been passing community thoughts over to the trials team lately.
