Now this is coming from a D1 veteran. Playing Destiny has been my hobby for a few years.
So it’s sad for me to say this but playing D2 has become a chore. It wasn’t always that way.
In D1 I started playing on PS4 and after a year I also started playing on Xbox after Rise of Iron.
When I started on Xbox I played through everything on one character then on the other two characters I leveled them up to 400 just playing the crucible. I could play what I wanted and still be leveling up.
The milestones in D2 are a bad idea. I have to play 3 Gambit matches. I have to play three strikes. I have to play 5 crucible matches. I have to play the night fall. I have to do all the dreaming city stuff.
See where I’m going. I have to do those things or I won’t level up. Leveling up is important because you need to be a high enough level to play the raid.
What Black Armory did was expose this bad design. It was a very bad decision to block access to a dlc people paid for behind a level requirement to start.
This is why the community is angry. Me included. We have to play old content for a couple of weeks to start this.
Now I have to go do all those milestones to get high enough to play this dlc. That takes time. And I can’t spend that time leveling up by playing nothing but crucible or strikes. I got to do those milestones. This game has now become a chore instead of something fun. I already have a job.
I was also looking forward to new crucible maps and new strikes but none of that in this dlc.
Hey maybe I’ll get some new armor or weapons from the vendors. Nope. Only thing to do is chase some weapons and grind some more after grinding for three months to climb 220 points.
If this is the future of Destiny then this has got me considering not playing Destiny anymore. That is the first time I ever thought that.
Just thought I’d share this feedback with Bungie so they can understand why people are angry with this game and what they might consider changing in the future.

my friends list has been empty in D2 since about Wednesday. Maybe a lot of people agree
-
The funny thing is, they already solved this problem in the past. Endgame content with different difficulty tiers, like PoE, blind well, etc. That way they can still focus on providing more end game content while actually allowing players to jump in and try it out from day one.
-
Extremely well said
-
Yeah it's not great. I guess I'm just lucky that I enjoy almost everything except Heroic Story Missions.
-
The problem is the lack of variety in activities, quests, and storylines With players essentially doing the same thing over and over with nothing to do in between it leads to the game getting stale and feeling like a chore Dreaming city made a good move by putting npc that give repeatable quests throughout the map Now give them; 1. Dialogue options so players can have conversations with the inhabitants of the universe 2. Give them Quests that are unique to that npc, along with the daily/weekly mission on top
-
I will have to agree. I don't like the chore milestone have become.

1 ReplyI'd like it if gear and power level weren't linked, and Destiny 2 adopted a more traditional xp based levelling system. Infusion wouldn't be a problem anymore, the well rested buff would be useful for more than just bright engrams, you could use any gear you want, milestones could grant a big chunk of xp rather than a gear drop. idk, maybe if prime engrams dropped alongside bright engrams, that'd be cool.

Edited by Orpheus Kell of Oracles: 12/9/2018 1:44:58 PMIt’s like others are saying, we already spent months grinding through the current activities, who wants to do it all over again (the same set of activities) to get to 650 ? o_0 If Bungie wants us to play this game again for the next two months we need new Strikes and new PVP maps that actually accommodate 6v6 and fix Quickplay, already a ton of threads on that mess (see the last year of D1 for a good starting point). Comp needs fixes too although personally I’m done with that wasteland.

6 RepliesIn the immortal words of a forum god... 'Yeh, this game sucks.'

The Black Armory weapon frame grind is really boring. Bungie. These quests and hoops you are pitting us through for relatively poor rewards is terrible

7 RepliesWell to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.
What Black Armory did was expose this bad design. It was a very bad decision to block access to a dlc people paid for behind a level requirement to start.
That's where you're wrong. Black Armory, and the other stuff in the season pass, are not DLCs, like Warmind or Curse of Osiris. They're endgame content, meant to be trickled down the line. The reason why there is a level requirement is because this stuff is endgame content. It's not supposed to be accessed by everyone who bought the pass- only the people who are in the endgame. It's not meant to replace the old milestones in Forsaken- it's adding some more things to it. You're still gonna have to do some Crucible and Gambit and Strikes to get to max level, but you can also play the forges and make some weapons.

Sad... but true...
-
Frankly there should be a level requirement but something more logical such as 580. Just a ballpark idea, what do yall think it should be?

Edited by Salamander: 12/9/2018 5:53:50 PMSo what if you have to level up a bit? It's clearly end game content. You're not being denied what you paid for. It's not "locked away". Yeah, you have progress more to be able to play end game content. That's almost like complaining that since you pay for a DLC, and the raid comes out, well you paid for it and so it's not fair that you have to play the game to get better gear so you can do the raid...such poor game design. There is so much wrong that Bungie has done with this game, but this is not it. You're sounding lazy. What, you don't have hours to put into the game? Great, neither do I. This community always finds ways to attack each other and Bungie for the sake of criticizing but never really for the right reasons. I'm not trying to attack you, but this is ridiculous. You're complaining that you have to play the game for you to access other things. If you want to criticize game design, you should be criticizing the shallow gameplay and shallow content and lack of meaningful quests. If the quests were more meaningful, then simply leveling up to access end game content wouldn't feel like a chore.

I can agree that the grind feels a bit much, but being that you are a D1 vet you should remember that Rise of Iron was a 70 light jump and the majority of the old content available in the entire game wasn't relevant anymore because it didnt scale with the rest of the game. I get the idea of doing the same thing repeatedly isn't terribly fun at times but at least there are options they are keeping current. Imagine if Black Armory dropped like the Taken King did and all the previous raids and weapons were stuck in your vault never to be used again. More importantly if there wasn't an increase why would anyone want to play new content? The balance between grinding out levels and playing the game they way you want is different for every player and I was certainly one of the many upset when BA dropped and I couldn't play it right away. But my initial reaction wasn't necessarily a complete one either. I didnt hit 600 light on one character until the week prior to the end of season 4. This new content being added with BA will likely keep me interested and grinding until the next drop and so on as long as what comes is fun to play. Everyone just needs to play the game as they choose and enjoy the options that keep getting added or keep playing what you already enjoy until you choose otherwise.

3 RepliesDoes anyone know what the magical looking door does/leads to in the tower, i seen guardians passing through it but I couldn’t enter, what’s in there??
-
Edited by Ghost: 12/9/2018 4:46:05 PMThey just need to raise the soft cap like they have with every dlc. It’s nice to be able to do whatever you want to level up your light instead of being forced into doing these milestones. I’d have no problem with the raised light level if I could just do Gambit and strikes over and over.
-
Destiny is setup to push players towards certain activities instead of keeping all content relevant. The past few weeks I log in and take a look at the map and see that I've already done the milestones I enjoy so I end up just logging out again.
-
Most of these you can do throughout the week.... Anyway this content is for people who play the game.
-
Thank you, I wouldn’t have put it any better, I want to progress playing activity I feel like playing, not just go through mandatory check list.
-
I agree,I also find getting cores a chore too.
-
It has become a game of long quests

Originally I was pissed that they changed the model from the $40 entry fee in the Fall that covered the year to a $40 entry fee in the Fall plus another $35 for a Seasonal Pass. Especially but not limited to the fact D2 was a complete and utter failure on so many levels year one. However, after falling in love w/ Forsaken and seeing Destiny, while still flawed and lacking in content, having it's luster back... After all, at it's core Destiny is one of the finest, if not the finest FPS on the market for console. Moving on. I thought this new model, despite feeling burned time and time again and sick of constantly paying for more content, re-skins, etc when the game and it's Expansions/DLC lack the content required for this kind of game... This current model of Expansion followed by a Season Pass is actually a good idea. Money grabbing but good. Providing additional end game content via the Season Pass and it's DLC. I mean end game content is the one thing game always lacks enough of. So what was a complete and utter mistake was providing this content and raising the level cap by 50 points. So not only will it increase 50 light levels now it will again increase in approx 3 more months and then after that another 3 months again. Having said that I was ready to buy the Season Pass after enjoying Forsaken so much. I spent a few weeks w/ Forsaken before I jumped onto Red Dead 2 for a few weeks then another week on Destiny and really wanted to keep playing, jump into The Forge. However that level cap is utter BS so I decided to put Destiny down and play AC Odyssey. Cores are still a real issue. Mind you when I play the crap out of the game. All Milestones, Dailies, Spider Bounties on 2 characters... And Cores as especially an issue but not limited to if you're rocking 2+ characters. They're a real issue for the casual players who don't have a ton of time to play throughout the week. Anyway I leveled my Warlock and Titan to 600. So last week I broke down and started to work on my long neglected Hunter; 583 w/o my weapons. On top of cores being a real issue the fact that powerful gear is dropping at 601-602 is a REAL PITA. I don't mind the grind and enjoy it as part of the game to some degree. However at some point the level grind simply becomes too much and going from the Fall Update which bumped us 200 (?) light levels just a few months ago to again raising the cap another 50.... This is going to cause a constant state of leveling. There's a reason MMORPGs only raise their level caps every 1-2 years with major expansions. As I see it one of two things needs to happen. If raising the level cap for the DLC then Powerful Gear needs to always drop 5-6 points higher than you're current level while further reducing, for the time being, the amount of cores required to infuse. Or just flat out remove the level increase and provide us with the end game content. I'd prefer removing the level increase. As I previously said I feel like this approach of Expansion in the Fall followed by a Season Pass w/ DLCs is the right approach. Much as I hate to admit it. So if this is how Destiny is going to be then Raise the light level w/ significant story missions and additions in the Fall then via the DLC provide additional end game content players can immediately jump into and enjoy. Also there really should be 2-3 new strikes and 2-3 new Crucible Maps added into these DLCs as well. I understand Gambit is new but just as badly as Strikes and Crucible needs some new arenas. And you don't need story driven content to create new Strikes, Crucible maps and Gambit Arenas. My Long winded 2 cents.

4 RepliesYeah they give you a literal chore list every week now. The power in destiny 1 felt like it came naturally with playing, but this milestone shit is annoying and tedious
-
It is more like a job than a hobby. I play guitar for 30 minutes and learn a lot and have a good time. I play Destiny for 30 minutes and I get very little done with RNG and unsatisfying long-winded quests.
