Why don't you want Skill based matchmaking?

I never had a problem before they changed it. Don't really mind the way it is now either but whenever it's brought up people get slaughtered in the comments if they ask for it. What is everyone's apprehension to SBMM?

  • Because bungie know no middle ground, You'll either have a connection base with no SBMM or a SBMM base with no connection requirements

    • Because top percentage players will be forced into smaller pools. This will give them laggy games more often and it’ll become really stale facing the same opponents consistently. It is essentially punishing good players for not wanting to play comp 24/7. It’s kinda ridiculous.

    • There is SBMM in Iron Banner and its a crappy lag fest. One game you stomp people (when lag is acceptable), one other game bullets don't register, you got shot trough walls and can hardly kill an enemy (when you get matched with peoples from Saudi Arabia, Australia or Brazil). So no thx.

      Sbmm = intense lag for skilled pvpers Sbmm = minimal lag for average pvpers due to higher population Reward scrubs and punish good players? No.

    • Had a poll on here not long ago asking why people even play crucible. Out of the nearly 1400 people who voted more than 800 said they only play for the powerful engram or not at all. That's substantially more than half. So let's not act like changing something about the crucible would hurt the player base. People don't want SBMM because their egos are VERY fragile. They get to feel good about themselves when they try hard and go 30-0 against people who are just running around waiting for the match to end. If you put them against people who can actually fight back they can't do that anymore and they'll blame it on lag and a dozen other things. That's also why you never see the popular youtubers or streamers in competitive. Nobody wants to watch the guy they think is amazing suddenly have a 1.0 k/d.

      • For some reason none of the bad players in this game understand why sbmm is horrible. Yes it would benefit the casuals as they would play against each other but when I go to play quickplay I’m looking for a nice casual experience where I can have an enjoyable gaming experience and not too play against people my skill level 24/7, having to absolutely sweat my ass off.

          • Here it is the sweatys and trytards want Cbmm so they can go in a stomp every body else because they normally get mashed by people of there own skill. And the rest of us want sbmm because we want to fight people of our own skill and to be honest having to deal with sweatys and trytards all the time puts people off playing crucible.

                  • ALERT - SBMM IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS!!!!!!! The creator of SBMM works for 343i now. His name is Josh Menke. He has multiple tweets describing what SBMM actually does and here are some of them - https://twitter.com/joshua_menke "Trueskill (SBMM) will simulate your average kill vs certain players, then pit you against them with players to either help or lower your overall kills as a team. The system is rewarding players at a 50% win ratio" "We can change the system but the players in social will complain" "My system does not put you against players of equal skill, it puts you with players you can match with based on connection and their past few games. As you play more the system finds you skill, and adds players to your team to help have a 50% win ratio vs the other team" In other words that system does NOT put you WITH people in a skill bracket. BUT put you with WORST players vs BETTER players than them. So here is an example - 4 kd .5 .5 .5 vs 2 kd 2 1.5 1.5 Now the system thinks - Hey that 4 kd guy will average XX amount of kills vs a 2 (Should be a 2KD atleast)...Problem is it gave me .5's on my team to compensate and make my chances of winning literally none. .5's will not average .5's vs 2 KDs. They will get smashed and I will have to literally 1v4 this game and sweat so hard just to win. It wont happen. The .5's will quit and come to the forum to blame matchmaking, while I will come to forums yelling about SBMM.

                    • Because we are P2P connected and SBMM doesn't know the difference between winning because of lag or skill. Nobody wants to see more and more lag the better they get.

                    • Because sweatys and trytards don’t want to face each other they would rather stomp lower skilled players however they always come up with I don’t like the lag when in fact they ruin everything they touch in Pvp by moaning.

Why would I want a a challenge. Much more fun to beat a bunch of people who don’t sweat Destiny all day and protect my ELO and look better.” -Every PvP sweat That’s why. Their e-peen needs to look big. Without SBMM these sweaties are basically an NFL team playing against a bunch of pee-wee football players.

                              • Is it too hard from a coding/ engineering standing to have comp be sbmm and qp whatever? Then have the really tough weapons require a comp aspect to keep them tough to get?

                              • People don’t want to have to sweat just to carry lesser skilled friend/strangers every match because the 1 good player boosted their overall stats. SBMM was done before. Everyone hated it. This includes casuals and milestone chasers.
