Take a damn break.
No seriously, it works.
I took a break and returned and got Two-Tailed Fox from the Flashpoint reward.
My brother has done it multiple times and has gotten Wavesplitter and Queenbreakers in one day. He’s also gotten Trinity Ghoul and some others.
It doesn’t sound like it makes sense, but if you really think about it, it does...
I grinded my a** off in the first couple days of Forsaken-got nothing. Many others have been in the same boat as me. Then, people have been saying that their friends that barely play are getting new exotics (my friend got Shards of Galanor and only has one character at about 505 light.).
This is such a Bungie thing to do. Reward players who barely play so they are enticed to play more. And don’t reward grinders and players who play daily so they tell themselves “if I keep playing, I’ll eventually get one”.
Maybe I’m delusional, or maybe I’m right. All I know is I’m sittin here with my first forsaken exotic while others have none.
So take a break, and get some exotics.
Edit 1: Fixed spelling mistakes
Edit 2: Yayyy trending
Edit 3: I see many people asking how long a break you should take-when I got TT fox, I took a 3 day break. I played some GTA V with my brother and some battlefront 2.
My brother however took a week break and got wavesplitter and queenbreakers.
In conclusion, higher break, higher reward. If you don’t mind straying away from Destiny, then 1 week break is for you. If you like looking forward to your daily shooting shït in the face, then take a shorter break.

What get me pissed off is you are completely correct from my result this week.... i got 2 exotics drops since Forsaken released. took a week 5 day break completed all weeklies and daily's and got 2 exotics in the weekend. BTW i do weeklies and dailies every week not like i miss em.
-
2 RepliesDid you guys do any further testing on your theory?
-
Still works imo. Took a week off of the game recently, came back and got shards of galanor to drop after a gambit match same day. Gonna take another break and hope for that gwisin vest or whatever its called.
-
Well, I don't know if I need my tinfoil hat or not, but after three weeks minimum 4-6 hours a day, no exotic. Took three days off, played 3 hours last night and got an exotic. It was that stupid "One-Eyed Mask" or something or other, but it was an exotic nonetheless. Dropped at a Public Event.
-
I honestly thought this was garbage, but it's almost certainly how it goes. I've been busy with work and life over the last few days and I've played at most like an hour and a half. Today was my day off, I jump on finishing up dailies and weeklies and I shit you not. Ophidian Aspect. AND. AND!! Geomags drop all within the span of 15-30 minutes. It works. Take a break, anywhere from 2-5 days. Mine was 3 days. It definitely paid off.
-
I took a 1 and a half month break and got 2
-
Took a break for 3 days. Got back on 30 min ago. Got one exotic from the story mission in the dreaming city (riskrunner) and another exotic from the first strike after reset (queenbreakers bow). I think OP's strat works well.

Edited by Hun8ryGhost: 11/20/2018 6:56:42 PMI actually don’t doubt that’s exactly how Bungie programs the game to punish its most loyal players. It would fit their MO of doing exactly that. lol. Do you realize the implication of what you said? I hope so.....
-
1 ReplyI never take breaks and have 13 of them lol
-
got trinity ghoul from a PE in the Dreaming City, it's been my first exotic drop since the first week of Forsaken, that was a "new" exotic

5 RepliesSounds 100% to me just based on people I play with. Me and my other hardcore "Destiny is my second job" buddy have nothing outside of the quest line drops. Maybe 1 piece of armor each.. Then Casual Brian (plays maybe 1-2 times a week) has every Forsaken exotic for all 3 characters except 1k voices. And he has the balls to say, "I don't get why y'all always complaining about not getting any Exotics." I literally watched him get 3 Exotics during 1 run of Blind Well last Thursday (he usually only plays Tuesday and Thursday) With his exact quotes.. *Starts a tier 2* on wave 4 he gets a drop from the Well Plague. "Wow, Wulf, is Two Tailed Fox any good" Same Tier 2 from chest after bosses "Cer.. Ceru...oh shit a 4 barrel machine gun?!" Starts a Tier 3, drop from Harmony Captain "Hey Wulf, Phoenix Protocol! That's the one you wanted, right?? Go F* Yourself, buddy. 🙃

Bro true I Grinded 5 hours a day for a month and get nothing then i stop for a week and come back and get Shards, Geomag and Cerberus+1 in one DAY .... I love to be punished for playing
-
Really doesn't surprise me. Bungie is so ass backwards that they probably would design a mechanic like that..
-
2 RepliesIt's total RNG. Some people have had horrible luck, but I've picked up 5 of the new exotics (not including quest stuff like AoS and TLord), and 4-5 previous exotics at higher light. Got Black Talon and Lord of Wolves in the same day, and I play at least a few times a week. You just gotta be lucky.

3 RepliesI have only gotten Forsaken exotics from Gambit enemies, nowhere else. Now that's weird....
-
I wasnt abke to play for a few days, got back on, played with some friends, we said our goodbyes, about to log off. I saw that there was a powerful reward for 1 gambit match, was about to go because I was tired, decided to do the one match. In the last minute of the match I got Gwisin Vest from a random ad. At the end of the match I got Shards of Galanor.

Edited by CatMan: 11/20/2018 3:24:20 AMWay too many edits bruh Edit: I know I said the breaks worked before.....I stopped playing D2 for two weeks while playing rdr2 came back to finish Luna quest and the pulse quest....not one gotdamn exptic has dropped at all.

Someone said to me this could be related to the prime attunement buff we get when not picking one up for a while, rather than just a mechanic to encourage players that haven't played in a while. Makes sense to me, but who knows!🤷
-
I agree I'll have droughts even before forsaken and stop playing or don't play a character for a while come back and get one

Edited by Prada: 11/19/2018 9:25:53 PMGot the Trinity Ghoul on day 3 from Ikora bounty powerful gear. 1 ReplyEdited by Broken: 11/18/2018 11:21:57 PMlol, best way to get exotics is by not playing. I've heard it all now. I dunno what ticks me off more about this. Playing the game, and getting played. Or Not playing the game, to play the game.... How bout you just issue me a refund, and I'll pretend I bought it?

2 RepliesEdited by GadNefarious: 11/19/2018 4:11:37 AMI'm a pretty routine player, I log in most days for at least a bit to goof around. I haven't been on since Wednesday. I shall test this theory tonight and return with my findings. Edit. Nada. Don't get your Hope's up people. Its RNG. Anyone who tells you different is selling snake oil.

2 RepliesI think there are anti-farming mechanics in this game, because I only started getting exotics and Prime Engrams when I stopped farming orange bar+ enemies and started only doing milestones/actual activities. Seriously, all my year two exotics came within two weekly resets and all came from Gambit. Prime Engrams also drop like crazy in there, while I can literally spend hours farming orange bar+ enemies out in patrol/raid areas and get absolutely nothing. Like I said, anti-farming mechanics. Anti-farming mechanics and a desire system in a loot based game without much loot... Recipe for success, eh? Ah well, it's a semi-fun basic little alien shooter so I can't really complain.
-
2 RepliesI pretty much get one forsaken exotic a week now (this week I got two). Do all Milestones ( literally) Do a raid. You’re bound to get 1 at the very least ( between a weapon or armor piece). Getting exotic engrams from killing enemies randomly is whats rare for me. I haven’t physically seen an engram on the ground in about a month now
