Best Way to Carry/Enjoy Solo Gambit [Guardian Farm Method]

I have been trying to figure out the best way to influence a Gambit game solo. It feels like far too often farming motes and defending against invaders is all for naught. I recently had a game where my team simply was so much slower than the enemy team. After we lost the first round, I decided the best way to get the game going in our favor was to stifle the progress of the enemy team, so that we could keep up. I found that that the following strategy worked very, very well. I just won three gambit matches in a row employing this strategy! Primary Goal - stay in control of the invade process and successfully invade the enemy team as often as possible. Even if your teammates are potatoes they have to finish eventually. Tips: -Don't camp the portal and hurt your team, just take constant note of the invasion points and plan accordingly. At 25 and 50 motes a portal will open for you. Keep an eye on your teammates so that you can be sure you end up near the portal when it opens. When your opponent summons a primeval, if you still haven't summoned yours, another portal will open. -Collect motes with a specific focus on pushing to the 25, 50, and 75 mark. Stuck at 24 motes? Run and kill one enemy and bank for portal so you can invade. -Time your invade on the enemy primeval fight wisely. If you invade immediately when the enemy summons their primeval, you will kill them before they have even done damage to the primeval. Try to let them get wrapped up in the fight first so you can catch them off guard. If you're gonna lose your invade to a potato teammate then yes, just jump on through, but try to delay it a little if you can. -Use your best ranged weapon! This is very important. I play gambit with a purely PvP loadout for this reason. Redrix's Broadsword owners, this gun really shines in gambit. Get a decent roll with Ricochet Rounds and range masterwork and you can pick people off from across the map. Any pulse rifle with this roll will work, but with Broadsword I find you can get Army of One again and again if you select your first target wisely. Bygones is another solid pick if you don't have Broadsword. For secondary slot, run something that you can defeat multiple close-range combatants with. Luna's Howl or optionally Trust would be my pick, but just something that isn't going to leave you high and dry after a single kill. -Try to save your Super for invades. It can be tempting to blast baddies for motes, but it will go a much longer way being used to get yourself out of a pickle during an invade. -Pay attention to your allies during your Primeval fight. If they don't seem to know what to do, this is when you may need to decide to ditch your focus on invading. Make sure Envoys are being killed first, and the Primeval is being burned down at a good clip. If you notice the Primeval fight is just not moving then quickly pick off the Envoys and DPS the Primeval hard while you wait for a portal. You need to make a quick judgement call when it comes to invading while you are both fighting the Primevals. If its close, focusing on max DPS to your own primeval might very well be more efficient. Blow your supers on the primeval before invading if you choose to invade, its hard to be effective with many supers when the enemy team is taking shots from base. Hope this helps someone out there! it certainly helped me feel a lot less frustrated by solo queue Gambit matches. Now I actually feel like I can carry a win, and if I fail, then I can take ownership of the loss and not feel like I want to reach through my screen and choke my fellow guardians when they go back into the fray at 14 motes and die to a Knight. Pic attached of fun times using this method. ^_^ Edit: added one tip

If I run solo, usually I'm either the Tether hunter with Orpheus, or will switch to Arc strider with Raiden Flux, Well of radiance and Luna Faction or Melting point Titan. I find they are good for clearing ads and for helping kill the boss at the end. I enjoy playing solo, I love to win like that. Being in a group of 4 can be very efficient at getting wins, I usually only do that though when trying to farm the Malfeasance boss or if I'm above 12000 infamy.

  • Nothing you can do when a team burns their primeval from 100 to 0 between invasions. Pretty sure there is no counter for that scenario.

      • How to attempt to show a group of rando's as a solo in Gambit that not all hope is lost. 1. Let them do as they do 2. Be Chaos Reach with boots and Boop cannon 3. Bank motes, invade only when need be and not just because you can. 4. Guide them to kill wizards 5. Get a Primeval slayer stack of x2, boop Cannon chaos reach the boss #Profit They should at least be able to put 2 & 12 together and get 7 at least once.

      • Congrats on your big game there for real, but this is against all solos on the other team as well! Your strategy basically lines up with mine, but it’s still pretty much a guaranteed lose against a team ya know? I liked Gambit early on, but it just feels frustrating now, like no matter how hard I try to pull my team along, it’s just not gonna happen. I’m usually out now after my milestone.

      • I use my parcel of stardust mainly for melting blockers, my age old bond which melts when I’m invading has( zen moment, HCR, kill clip and a counterbalance mod), and colony now this thing wrecks doesn’t need vision of the enemy, you can be anywhere on the map, just point in the direction of the enemy and boom team wipe XD.

      • Yes, please use your supers during invades. I need one more super kill for my triumph. Please and thank you.

      • nice. also if you are going to invade try putting a blocker up first. this way the opposite team can be stalled from depositing and should make an easy pick for you.

        • When Im solo, I just go in with the expectation that its a lost match, (and its usually only going to net me a piece of gear), but i just shoot adds, let my teammates collect the motes with the hopes that the bank for bigger blockers quicker, unless someome on the team is slacking, then ill pick it up with my mote collecting, and invade if someone doesnt jack the portal as soon as its available when the other team isnt wven carrying motes. Actually, thats exactly how I play when im with my clan. So, basically nothing changes and I domt adapt my playstyle to solo play. Then again, Im Legend and dont agree with the Legend rank system, so im trying to stay out of Gambit for right now.

This is great, and perfect for a solo perspective. It took me a while to come to near the same conclusion, it is all about invasions. Yeah, I still see players ignoring the envoys, or not banking or whatever, but most if not all of my recent games (where we had a chance of winning) were decided by invasions. If you can’t shut down an invader or invade to handicap the other team, you’re done. Just sit down and wait it out because you’re about to lose. Only problem with solos is not everyone can be tapped to be the invader and a lot of people get real squirrelly when the PvP aspect gets shoved in their face. But at least knowing some strategies might help in the long run.
