So just when monetization in destiny is at its least intrusive state, Activision says they plan to look for more ways to monetize the franchise going forward.
Forsaken has been a great release and most would say destiny's best version, but apparently sales didn't reach expectations.
If you have the time, I explain more on the topic and my opinions in this video. https://youtu.be/nq_MfSieVhw

19 RepliesI once again open up my idea for Variks plushies that talk when squeezed. “I am soft yesssss?”

1 ReplyIf games don't make money, we don't get games. Like it or not our world runs on the profit incentive.
-
1 ReplyActivision and Bungie both are missing the boat on this one. If they would just charge money for nerf posts, then they could probably fund the next 20yrs worth of gaming.
-
1 ReplyIt was an Earnings call over monetization and micro transactions. Nothing more. It has nothing to do with the actual Content of Forsaken. Candy Crush is activisions favorite game... I wonder why... In Forsaken Bungie pushed away from micro transactions and Activision isn’t happy about it. The End. Welcome to the greedy corporate world.

Easy - they need to license the rights to Destiny and start making books, movies, etc. They can make more money by diversifying it as an entertainment franchise than they can as just a video game. Look at Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia, Halo, Doom, etc. They had better look at other avenues because this game isn't going to generate much more. Only a very, very small percentage of players are willing to part with real world currency for EV cosmetic junk. Those that are going to get the annual pass have already. There is nearly zero extra income forthcoming until a new expansion surfaces - i.e. the size of Forsaken.

1 ReplyIs your channel monetized, perchance?

21 RepliesAnd Activision is right. Forsaken did fail. Let that be a lesson to every game dev who fails to cater their games to casual gamers. Streamers (who should get real jobs) and tryhard no-life gamers are a small demographic compared to that of casual gamers.

4 RepliesJust saying, you can start a conversation without self promoting. Just a thought.

16 RepliesI get that Forsaken has good content but Bungie has gone to absolute sh*t, I just cant stand this anymore and I refuse to play Destiny
-
Just because something is the "best it's ever been" does not mean it's good enough.

4 RepliesEdited by draycole: 11/12/2018 7:53:32 AMForsaken is not a great release. It's more destiny content for those who like destiny content. However, it is not an improvement of any of destiny's core issues that have plagued it since September of 2014.
-
1 ReplyIt's probably because player population dropped off so much between launch and now. It's really the fault of the proceeding content, not Forsaken though.
-
1 ReplyMore or less can be translated to 'Not enough spending at Eververse" Greedy bastards, Antivi$ion are already screwing Blizzard franchises up, sadly its only natural for them..... definitely not the gaming company they once were
-
1 Reply"Forsaken Fails according to Activision" Translation: "We want Fortnite monies... We no get monies. 😢"
-
2 RepliesIt's Activision, they're just upset cause they can't buy their 16th Lambo this year. Greedy bastards are always going to be greedy bastards.
-
3 RepliesWell if Activison is going to listen to idiots whoops I mean so called hard core players well then shit happens and you can’t blame this on solo players for this crap
-
1 ReplyIf you look at the history of ANY game, DLC's have never sold well compared to the launch of a game. Foresaken is basically that. The 4th installment of a DLC to a game. So expect the numbers to dwindle immensely. To those of you who think this will cause Activision to tank its stock, it wont. Destiny is 1 game. 1 game isnt enough to tank a company like Activision entirely. If anything, I might just buy Activision stock since its at a good discount.

But yeah, It did fail

Edited by Whopping Dingers: 11/12/2018 2:12:32 PMThey may just do pay to win. When they do, you'll find my guardian performing the following emote. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJxCdh1Ps48

9 Replies"most would say destiny's best version" No.
-
6 RepliesI'm glad Activision is doing this. Serves BUNGIE right for catering Forsaken to streamers (who should get real jobs) and tryhard no-life gamers.
-
3 Repliesdestiny2 fails for over a year now , nothing changed

I feel that D2 is the best it’s ever been since the release of Forsaken. D2 not good at launch. For another $40 we got the game that should of been released at launch. There are still many improvements needed, however the game is more fun to play now. Bungie Motto written on the wall of the studio says “We make games players want to play” Let’s hope that Bungie actually believes this and it isn’t simply lip service.
-
12 RepliesConsider the source. Activision is like a diaper: full of crap and always on Bungie's arse. Forsaken took Destiny 2 from "disastrous mess" to "going concern". So definitely not a failure.
-
2 RepliesForesaken story and weekly updates in game was a warm welcome. The loot...that was and still is abysmal. Word of mouth and reviews prevented alot of sales. I and alot of other people havent spent a dime on the game besides buying the dlcs

4 RepliesWith how garbage d2 release was, how empty curse of Osiris was and come on warmind didn’t break that 20$ expansion standard of garbage either. They can’t expect to make a shit ton off of forsaken. They ruined people trust. They deserve the spot they’re in. I know I’m not getting the annual pass, I stupidly got forsaken and am not really impressed, sure it’s better far better than the 20$ expansions but it’s still got nothing interesting to do and I barely touched it. If they address properly the cheating and make more forsaken level content people would probably return but it’s still destiny and no one trusts bungie. Plus they’re under activisions control so it’ll forever be a subpar game because of that alone sadly
