FYI: Just picked a random name for this I thought would work well...
So, according to the story, we generally have the Infinite Forest under our control. It sees little use. So, how about using it as a place for a "Combat Simulator". It can serve a couple different functions...
Firing Range
This is a mode which is highly customizable with the goal of allowing you to go test out every possible piece of gear and/or ability available in the game.
You can go in... pull up a menu... select all of the gear (weapons/armor) you want to test (including any mods). Select a map and desired "AI" you want for test subjects. Etc.
The purpose is that you get to see what "builds" work for you BEFORE you invest the resources/time/effort getting that gear.
Training Room
In this mode, you obviously use it for training. Various options can be customized to suit your needs. Like, types of enemies, difficulty, etc. Use this mode to hone your skills against AI controlled opponents (even AI Guardians).
In the training room mode, you can even load up various raid encounters... would be a good way for maybe clans to practice (especially with newer players).
You can attach some weekly/daily rewards and challenges to it.
A rough idea... maybe worth pursuing.

Great idea!

1 ReplyThank you all for the replies. A couple things to clarify and respond to... 1. Osiris is viewed as being the "best" guardian or at least incredibly powerful. He still lives. He may not be a vanguard commander anymore, but why not bring him back in as someone who helps your guardian hone your skills? Or, at least, wouldn't it make sense for our guardian to seek out Osiris as a mentor? Obviously our guardian has become more than just a guardian. Osiris would be our best mentor at this point. And, the fact that Osiris pretty much controls the Infinite Forest... he'd be capable of "writing" a program that allows us to train... perhaps more intensely than even the Crucible would provide? 2. I've actually thought about introducing the ability for us to revisit fighting cool things from D1... perhaps as "memories" for us to explore (as Ikora likes for us to do). Why not employ the "simulator" for this? Conjure up Crota, Oryx, etc. Maybe this could involve various daily/weekly challenges? ("This week Osiris wants you to revisit your battle[s] with Oryx. Complete this challenge for Powerful Gear.") 3. I'd like them to do something with the Farm, but I think the Infinite Forest is best for this application.

5 RepliesSo you mean crucible? This is exactly why crucible is there according to the lore. A training ground to hone your skills before going out and facing the darkness

Might be something like this for Black Armoury...
Buy now for $30 or miss out on it completely. (Kidding)
This is actually dope

Basically what I've always wanted from it. Bump. This should be accessible directly from Mercury patrol, too. Just walk into the portal and BOOM. Control Terminal.
-
I’d really like this idea...
-
5 RepliesOrrrrrr.... Go to Mercury and do heroic missions? The farm... Let’s talk about how much of a wasted space that is. And who the -blam!- puts pineapple on pizza? What’s up with that?!?!
-
This is a cool idea, but I only want to see activities in the game that offer rewards. Unless they turn it into something like arena hordes, it would just be taking up my hard drive space.
-
Lmao try weapons before you get them good one?

1 ReplyXd sounds like the warframe’s simulacrum room.

Hire him Bungie

This is how Guardians would actually train, in a logical world. Since Guardians don't fight the way their enemies do, the Crucible isn't really a realistic training tool. Also, with real-life bullets flying around, some Ghosts would be hit, resulting in permadeath for their respective Guardians. VR training, with realistic mockups of enemy combatants, would make much more sense.

You know Warframe has a private area exactly for this. Where you can spawn any enemy you've unlocked in your codex (Warframe has that too), and spawn hordes of them at any desired level to test and various combat scenarios and weapons. I'm not so much saying Warframe is awesome, but that Destiny doesn't have an excuse for it's pitfalls at this point...

Simulate the D1 strikes remastered please.

This is an awesome idea.

Inagree but why put it in the classes section, just go to the feedback forum

1 ReplyCan we resimulate the fight of Shin vs Yor with it? I would like to watch it. Bored just hearing the story from teachers in my Gunslinger School :p

It’d be great if we could get something like that, the problem would be whether it’s feasible for Bungie to implement it.
