Why I don't care about 600 light, exotic drop rates or all that....

I am enjoying my game, my way. I like PvE, I find the shooter mechanics to be tight. I'm hunting humanities enemies. I do my Powerfuls and some bounties, run some pub events. I test new weapons when I find them, I run strikes and I gamble in Gambit. I ride Pikes, drive tanks and all that. I buy my cores each day and I plan how to use them. I am a Titan and humanities enemies fear me. I escape the real world and have fun and that is my Destiny.

  • I find it fun at first but the game in general is very boring very fast. Its extremely repetitive with very little difference in adds as once you play enough you see all of them as headshot hit boxes instead of aliens or monsters. The difficulty increase modes are the only interesting thing about this game with the raid and i have done so much of them at this point they are all the same. Its almost like zombies in black ops, the first time i did zombies it was fun but they kept on releasing new zombies every DLC just MORE MORE MORE with some changes on the side but overall the same thing and this is especially worse since I consider the state of destiny 1 as it is right now with all the things you can do and challenges to be much mote rewarding and challenging. Its basically just boring and i feel like im forcing myself to play the game just so I’m not underpowered the next DLC release or event. I think if the next DLC does not interest me more then playing destiny 1 does right now im gonna have to put this game and its sequel brethren to rest forever because i have other games i would rather play and i dont like wasting my time every Tuesday to run through all the challenges in a day then never play it till next reset (BTW this is basically the only way i can still play this game because if i try to play this game for more then 6 hours a week i will want to hang myself)

4 years on Bnet, first-time poster, Interesting. I'm having a little bit of a hard time enjoying the game my way knowing the game is created for Bungie's way. In D1 I hard more freedom to play how (I wanted to play,) In D2 that freedom was cut in half. I don't care about 600 light either knowing max level has never meant anything in this game in 4 years. The max level of anything between D1 and D2 has a cap way before you reach max so the extra levels are literally pointless and have always been pointless. I like PvE, but it's majorly lacking in every aspect of it as far as it being a loot and shoot working towards 5 years later. The truth to that? it shouldn't be lacking as bad as it is right now. I don't use video games to escape from reality, it's a false sense of happiness knowing there are things in the real world that mean a hell of a lot more than a kids game that brings me real happiness.

    • Which is exactly why what the Investment Team is doing to the game in the name of "Meaningful Choices" is so counterproductive. People play for different reasons....and enjoy different things. The only choice that is meaningful to the PLAYER is what they enjoy about the game, and how they want to interact with it. No one wants Bungie telling them how to play....and trying to punish them for the way they wish to play. Which is why Bungie should be empowering the player to play the game in the way that we each want...instead of over-controlling and trying to micro-manage everything we do.

      • I got to where 2 of my characters can be 600. It meant nothing. I figured once I got there I'd chase good rolls, but the perk pool is SO small. Almost every gun has rampage, kill clip, hcr or a combination of these. So the thrill wanes pretty quickly on that chase too. To be honest, all I really do now is PvP ( which makes me sick since this is meant to be a PvE game) and whatever my friends want to do. I only use my hunter now, first time I've ever done that. Just no mojo to run 3 characters anymore. The final straw was when the game dropped me three (yes, THREE) quest exotics as drops in a row. Whoever decided that was a good idea should die in a fire. Rant over.

      • Back in The Taken King era, the chase was for 320 light. The RNG system for drops made that almost impossible and #forever319 became something of a meme, though not as big as #forever29. I was running the raid challenge in Oryx when I realized I wasn't having fun. Then i deleted the game to take a break. It was then that I realized that someday this game will die. D1 effectively died only but a year ago. Max light won't matter. All the gear drops won't matter. I came back to Destiny a few months later because my friends were in Iron Banner and I wanted to play with them for fun. To make a long story short, the only thing that matters in Destiny is having fun while you are playing it. It's great for OP that he finds Forsaken fun. For many players, myself included, part of the fun is getting a new gear drop that changes the game. With RNG the way it is, this isn't happening enough in Forsaken. Same goes for masterworks, mods, and finding the best "roll". All of these are too tied to RNG to be fun mechanics. There is little incentive to modify gear that will be underleveled with the next random drop. If I wanted to use the same guns all the time, I would have stuck with Halo. So I'm following my own advice and playing less Destiny because it is not as fun.

        • I have talked to my buds about this telling them that content releases are far apart and the game is more fun as marathon than sprint. They still try and try and farm and rush things which leads to frustration over drop rates and spawn rates. myself and those played more slowburned are keeping up and usually the ones who get the exotics funny enough.

        • Getting to 590+ is way too easy. It should require raiding. They also need to add a bonus raid specific perk to raid armor and weapons.

          • Personally, I like to chase after the top light level because it gives me a goal I can follow.

This guy plays the game right. Every time someone tells me "I need to do my X activity" I wonder why? Why do you "need" to do any particular thing. Do what you enjoy and get off the hamster wheel. Edit: Wrong animal.

            • The game is fun. The chase for 580 was more intense for me. I didn't really care for 600 but I got 2 characters to them with just casual play.

              • I also don't care man ... my friends on Xbox played Fallout 76 yesterday and they all loved it. I have a preorder of the Power Armor edition with a beta key for 30th for PC and everyone from my Destiny clan has a preorder aswell. I don't care about light level dude, nor exotic drops ...

                • I'm not rushing to 600 because I don't really care about the Raid, Iron Banner, or Shattered Throne. I only need to get to 580 for the Malfeasance strike. I could do it earlier, but I've heard it gets pretty hectic at the end.

If you’re not 600 Light in all 3 characters BY NOW?!?! You’re just a filthy casual SCRUB... They only give us like, oh I dunno, 900 freaking powerful engrams a week... And each activity takes like 15 min to do... ANYONE can do it... #YouMustHaveNoThumbs #Iwork&GoToCollege&PlayDestiny&GetLaid

                    • Why I don't care about 600 light, exotic drop rates or all that is because Red Dead is releasing very, VERY soon.

                          • I stopped caring about progression too and now I only play to grind the seasonal loot boxes and to play the free content like PvP and any event that isn't light level dependent like Festival which is absolutely amazing. I didn't purchase Forsaken and I don't plan to. The grind compared to D1 has just gotten a little too silly for my liking. Still better than the participation trophy approach they were using. I just don't have time to be a proper Guardian anymore.
