This is after buying 8 cores.
So total purchase is
1st core = 10 shards
2nd core = 20 shards
3rd core = 40 shards
4th core = 80 shards
5th core = 160 shards
6th core = 320 shards
7th core = 640 shards
8th core = 1280 shards
Total = 2,550 shards for 8 cores if you want to buy them from spider in 1 day.
-
9th core = 2560 shards.
I think this is just silly. Slowing down progress.

I was half asleep when I bought my first batch and totally didn't pay attention to the escalating cost. Suffice to say, I'm now broke and have upgraded a whopping four pieces of armour lol
-
I guess just don’t buy them all in one day sorry
-
Title is really misleading. It's an urgency issue. If you want that many RIGHT NOW, it's going to cost you a ton. Kinda like when a hurricane gets closer and closer to you. When you're kissing the eye wall, a generator's gonna cost you the going gouge price... Just pick up 3 every day and play. You basically get them for free after a 2-hour session. Less sometimes...
-
It makes you choose what's important before you go infusing anything and everything. You have to be strategic, and I like this. I haven't infused anything because the Meta hasn't fully been flushed out and I'm not at max light yet anyway. Stocking up on them cores like my vitamin, 1 a day.

Edited by S_for_the_win: 9/20/2018 5:26:39 PMIf you feel need to infuse every new gear you get, then its your brain that's slowing progress. Using gear thats little out of your comfort zone until that significant upgrade in power thats really worth infusing isnt the end of the world... Edit: Destiny is a game. Cost of infusion is not a political decision but a simple obstacle for people to go over.
-
I hate that cores are necessary for infusion, but Spider does seem like the type to price gouge. "Let's see how desperate this guardian is, yessss?"

3 RepliesOr, you could, you know, use 1 legendary shard to get 5 planetary materials. Wait for the planets that only take 50-55 shards per engram, buy a BUNCH of materials, get a ton of engrams. You get legendary shards back every time AND you get a chance at those items coming masterworked. Break everything down for even more legendary shard return and get a ton of MW materials. I did this over and over with the Mercury materials yesterday. Started with 175 shards. Ended with 137, and got 18 MW cores... The more you know.
-
Shouldn't need masterwork cores for infusion. Just masterworking
-
1 ReplyI grab 2-3 each day. No problem.
-
Cores need a chance to drop out of chests.
-
5 RepliesEdited by Cosmic Zaa: 9/20/2018 4:11:52 PMWait until the next day to buy more. Easy grind. Grind game for masterowkr cores. While doing so, each day, buy up to 3/4 cores from Spider. You’ll have plenty after awhile. I have 147 currently. Buying about 21-28 Cores a week sounds pretty good, to go along with random drops from consumables and such. Amounting most likely about 30-40 cores a week. Grind Valor and grab 10 a rank too.
-
I started laughing when I first read the title, but then I realized that it said "shards" and not "glimmer"...
-
44 RepliesIf people would stop trying to infuse non-identical items into each other so frequently, this wouldn’t even be an issue. Play with some different armor and weapons for a change and save up your Masterwork cores for making Masterworks.
-
In the same way as the soft cap at 500. Just like the powerful engrams changing from power+5 to +1 after their various activity thresholds at 520, 540 and 560 are hit. Like the Clan XP engram needing specific bounties completed instead of just giving a percentage for each activity that players choose to play like it used to. The entire Forsaken experience is designed to slow progress down and attempt to direct people into doing specific things as much as possible.
-
The problem in the drop rate. Even if the piece of armor is fully upgraded chances of getting a core out of it is slim
-
what kind of idiot would try and buy them all at once? using the daily reset you can gain more than enough in a week's time. then again if you are so eager to have it now you should pay a steep fee for your greed and impatience.
-
2 RepliesJust be glad this wasn't EA. Buy a core pack for .99, $4.99, $9.99, $14.99, $24.99, $49.99 or best value at $99.99
-
Well, they cant keep you guys playing if they dont artificially extend the content with ridiculous examples like this. Infusion should cost zero cores in reality.
-
N that consumable for a master work to drop from a boss is shite. No drops after the 4 hrs, n even if one did drop-then it’s done. Such bollox.
-
4 RepliesThe only currency in this game is time......if you do not enjoy it then leave.
-
18 RepliesBtw, Spider's exponential cost resets each day. If you purchase 2 Cores, it costs 30 Shards. Do that 7 days, that's 210 Shards for 14 Cores. Which is a LOT cheaper than trying to buy them all in one go. Besides, I don't know anyone who's infusing multiple things a day. But figured I'd let everyone know.
-
I just bought over 10 without knowing this. Went from 21000+ shards to 468! How long I played to get these shards and now they are just gone in a matter of seconds! Thank Bungie! 😡 So damn pissed at the moment!
-
I thought I had a lot of shards at 8k, 13k is impressive. But really it should cap out at some point and not just keep doubling.
-
It resets daily, amigo
-
been buying 3 a day since release. kinda pointless post honestly.
-
And I thought I had a lot of legendary shards 😂
