Seriously the first step for the Ace of Spades quest is crap. I’m not even playing gambit legit I’m literally just waiting for people to invade so I can attempt to kill an overpowered guardian that also has their super with a dinky F-ing handcannon. Not fun at all, it ruins the mode because everyone is doing the same thing.
Kill enemies? Collect motes? Summon a primeval?
Nah fam I’ll just wait in one the corners of the map for an invader to come in so I can attempt to kill him.
Not to mention you worded the step completely wrong. For the longest time I was trying to get hand cannon kills as an invader because the description literally reads “invasion kills with a hand cannon” and not “invaders killed with a hand cannons”

3 RepliesEdited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 9/10/2018 2:43:47 AMI think the crucible one is FAR worse, but I agree. At least with gambit I can play how I want until there’s an invader. With the crucible I’m literally running around constantly using a weapon that I loathe using in the crucible. It’s taking me SO long to get these precision kills. Destiny manages to have both the best and absolute worst gaming experiences at the same time. This is a prime example of the worst. No competitive mode should ever have people running around completing personal objectives. Ever. Period. It’s beyond obviously, an incredibly terrible idea.

Same bro, same
-
Bungie should simply put an Alternative Step to the first Part, just like some Masterworks need only a few PvP Kills but lots of PvE Kills Just let uns grind 400 Gambit NPC Handcannon Precision Kills OR get 5 Invader Kills
-
Same here, it honestly isn't fair to those wanting to actually play gambit, because I just wait around to get one hit by an invader whos literally impossible to kill for the whole match. Needs changed asap.
-
yup, means im running around with hand cannons and not the weapons i am most effective with. stuff like this detracts from team play. i dont mind the shotgun in crucible quest as that was super easy, this just makes playing gambit a bit of a grind instead of fun.
-
Couldn’t agree more, It’s making what would be a really fun game absolutely cancerous. Everyone just wants to get their quest done and don’t care about trying to win. It’s not fun the only one trying on your team. Worst part is, even when you notice your team questing and not playing the objective you can’t even leave the game...
-
6 RepliesI will say this, why every quest needs to involve PvP of some sort is beyond me. Also I play with a group of friends who finished the campaign as the same as me. So guess who else needs the exact same thing. Everyone I play with. I’ve never understood Bungies burning desire to force everyone to play PvP in a game that is designed around PVE.
-
2 RepliesI hate PvP requirements for a PvE weapon, but the really asinine thing is having the quest step encourage playing AGAINST the mechanic needed to win!
-
Man I totally agree. I don’t mind a grind but this initial step is fckng ridiculous - especially for peeps that a) don’t play a lot of crucible and b) rarely use hand cannons.
-
Agreed that this quest is ruining gambit.

2 RepliesEdited by DuoDoUrden: 9/10/2018 8:30:50 PMHad teams of random throw games just to get invader kills. Never mind the fact I am a solo player playing stacked clan teams that melt their bosses in seconds vs my team of random quest grinders. throwing games and stealing motes to run off and die so we cant bank anything. Seriously could have done with out the invader bs. I like being competitive who can beat their boss first. But having people spawn camp my ghost with a sniper rifle is really old fast. Such a great idea screwed over by stupid mechanics and a quest.
-
For anyone having problems: 1. Get a high stability hand cannon like "trust" 2. Know where the spawns are for invaders 3. Take your time and concentrate your shots 4. Repeat 2-3 until complete
-
They will never learn they continue to make these ridiculous requirements for stuff without thinking. It just ruins what ever game mode they put stuff in
-
2 RepliesI dont think the quest is all that bad. Gambit kills are kind of annoying but if you use crimson and play aggressively with a fireteam, you'll get them. The rest of the quest is almost too easy though.
-
2 Repliesliterally took two hours to get. grow a pair.

6 RepliesEdited by GEX: 9/10/2018 2:04:16 AMIts so -blam!-ing easy to do while playing a normal gambit match It is 5 kills Get good I suck at PvP and got it in 4 matches
-
it's frustrating as hell until you get one, then the rest are just as bad. The great thing is we 've only had one week of the new so if it's too frustrating put it on the back burner and widdle away at it. I had better success going in solo, but heard others in a fireteam coordinating the attack to wound them for your kill.
-
1 ReplySo youre throwing matches for your teammates? Ive played with a few guys like you and i report them all. Why? Because you shouldnt be screwing players who actually enjoy gambit and are trying to keep their streak going. I agree the quest sucks, it took me a while too. Just LFG and find other players willing to grind for HC kills too.
-
I’ll equip mine so you can see what it looks like if ya want .
-
I just completed the gambit step and I hated every moment of it. I freakin hate pvp in quest steps. Oh and look at all those powerful engrams in pvp modes...damn it...
-
And what if NO ONE on the other team doesnt want to invade to just screw up your chances to finish this stupid quest??? I was expecting the gun at the end of the story but NOOOO, what I got was a quest and I have to play PvP as part of it. Ive always hated those Crucible Exotic quests since D1 and Bungie is doing it again, MAKE us need to play something we dont or may not want.
-
Same!!

Go in with some mates and get them to weaken the invader enough for you to kill them. 1 crit with an arrow will take down the shield, same goes for one body shot with a sniper or shotgun. That, or use a bow and learn the spawns. Get a bow shot or 2 off before pushing with your hand cannon. If you play with a team, I'm pretty sure you can actually control where the invader spawns, depending on where you guys are looking. I've had instances where the invade spawned right behind me, as I was close to the spawn point but faced 180 degrees in the wrong direction. I've also seen players abuse this with shotguns, each positioned at a spawn but not facing it, and legit as soon as I dropped in, dead. But besides the point, your best bet is to learn the maps and play with a team, doing this on your own is doable for sure but it is not a fun task. All I can say is hang in there, it's the hardest part of the quest and beyond that the rest will come easy.
-
I am also passing on gambit. Instead of playing matches to win and team play just waiting for invasion.
-
3 Repliesthat the one and only reason they put it there though, to tweak the gambit numbers to make it look like yall enjoy it and wanted to play the hosed up game mode pve and pvp DO NOT belong in the same arena
-
Edited by TehW3apon: 9/10/2018 3:39:04 AMI played one match so far. I have no real desire to play it with how terrible it is right now. Maybe someday. Edit: BTW the Chaperone quest requires gambit kills as well.
