I like Cayde, but Uldren's ending was worst than Cayde's. He didn't really deserve it.
He's the best Destiny villain in my opinion.
Edit, you actually hear both guns fire at the same time, so your guardian and Petra kill him together.
And the final raid boss is an Ahamkara. The phrase 'O brother mine' gives it away. 'O Guardian o mine' was what the dragons like saying when they were alive and wish granting.
I just have to say, the tower feels empty without him.

10 RepliesIf the choice had been in our hands, I wouldn't have shot him. He was mentally ill, was under some sort of mind altering force, had been imprisoned for who know how long. There should have been a punishment sure, but the punishment should should have been rehabilitation. He could have potentially been an ally aswell once he heard the real Mara Sov aswell, and we could have had an entire army of Scorn on our side since it seems the Scorn worshipped him. It was a good ending though.

Did Uldren deserve to die? Yes. Would I have killed him immediately? No. Not necessarily. At least, not as a Warlock. I would have taken Uldren back to the Tower. Much like how Zavala tried to see to bigger picture by not chasing him... (although, tbh, that was a bit lame. I just felt like they could have done it better. Maybe instead of hushed voices, Ikora and Zavala could have gotten angry or something) ...I would have tried to stick to a slightly more practical big picture. SOMETHING is doing all of this, and Uldren is the only sentient we could have actively questioned and studied to find out what or why. Having brought Uldren back would have been a more, long term, logical choice. Not only that, but Darkness tends to leave its mark on people. Perhaps one of the Warlock orders could have done a more specialized analsis of him, or further probed his mind. Maybe finding a piece of the taint, and finding a link from it. We might also learn how the Scorn came to be, and how Uldren went about finding how to raise the Fanatic. -- Then, of course, after that I would have given him to Petra. Without a head.

3 RepliesEdited by Faaeng: 9/7/2018 12:33:38 AMI was pressing R2 to shoot him in the face throughout the entire cut scene.... I main a hunter. He murdered my Vanguard and I wasn't letting that slide like his "buddy" Zavalla. O_O

I personally would have been ok if it just ended with him being slurped up by the flying butthole monster
-
10 Replies
The fact that Uldren betrayed his own people and killed Cayde just to try and free his sister from the dreaming city, only to unleash, and subsequently get eaten by, a tentacle monster is -blam!-ed up as hell

Also the second I saw Mara change into a tentacle monster, I thought "I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going"
I actually smiled when he got consumed. Honestly I just think that's a better way to die for killing cayde instead of us shooting him. But hey I was right I felt like in the end the roles would be reveresed we would have the ace of spades pointed to his head and "kill him"

lets replace him with cayde 7 already

1 ReplyProbably lost the voice actor and didn't want to pay Nolan North for his voice too.

4 RepliesHaven't we been over this? Saying 'O [noun] mine' doesn't make something a dragon...

<No, I agree. I understood Uldren's motive. He was desperate. But alas, he played right into the hands of HER will through Her voice. By far the most horrifying aspect of the Voice of Riven fight was hearing Uldren's screams for help. One of the most interesting things about the mission is how you can hear his doubt in the Ascendant Plane. Him killing Cayde was crossing a line, but that doesn't mean I can't feel bad for the -blam!-er.>

He did deserve it though. #ForCayde

I would have put an shotgun shell through both his knee caps first but thats just me

I just wish we could have seen our Guardian pull the trigger. It would have definitely given me some closure for what Uldren did to Cayde. It was off putting to me that the screen goes dark and then we heard a gunshot, and it made me question if Uldren is really dead or not.

Edited by Ghostfire239: 9/7/2018 5:48:40 AMHe got stuff into a tooth filled -blam!-/vagina with tentacles...We basically did him a favor by killing him. I sure as hell would want to live knowing I just got consumed by a giant, living, tooth filled, -blam!-.

3 RepliesHe didn't deserve it? Why? He's an idiot that allowed himself to be controlled because of his obsession with his sister.
-
The funny thing about uldren’s death is that Mara sov IS still alive, and is trapped in her ascendant realm
-
Uldren got what was coming. He murdered Cayde my homeboy. Won’t care what he said, he’s getting that bullet we’ve been saving just for him.

1 ReplyWhen that thing came out for him all could think of is the epic movie: TEETH

5 RepliesI’m not sure why, but in the cutscene, I was thinking to myself, “Don’t do it.” And when it ended, I just didn’t feel right. I assume that we shot Uldren and not Petra because the gunshot matched the Ace of Spades and not the Vestian Dynasty, but if the choice was mine, I’m not sure I would have done it. From Mara’s dialogue, it seems Uldren was being manipulated by the Worms/Ahamkara, but after he was released, he clearly had no remorse. Uldren deserved punishment, but... I don’t know. Maybe it’s something about killing a defenseless opponent that doesn’t sit right with me.

What I found somewhat funny is how they died. Cayde had been beaten by all the barons, only for Uldren to come by and shoot him with Caydes gun. Then Cayde dies minutes later due to his wounds. Uldren on the other hand got eaten by a Taken tentacle vagina with teeth and was then out down by both us and Petra with another seconds hesitation.

7 RepliesTake it up with Petra, she pulled the trigger. That was not the Ace sound.

1 ReplyEdited by Seldser: 9/6/2018 7:32:06 PMYou know what, the fact that that ending led to this kind of discussion is welcoming. It’s something no other Destiny villain has brought on. I feel that’s definitely a sign that Forsaken’s writing is the best so far.
-
I think that it works great as an ending. It made me feel empty. Was the revenge our guardian wanted really worth it? It really helps the game embrace its darker themes and is a whole lot better than the rest of d2 where every ending was boring and predictable
