However actions made blinded in this way can be disastrous. Zavala is actually thinking bout things like the defence of the city and all the innocent people that live there, along with not wishing to go to war with the reef, which could potentially dash any hopes of working together in the future. Zavala wants revenge just as much as ikora, however contrary to what people like asher might think, zavala actually has a habit of thinking far more clearly than ikora. Which would also explain why zavala went to try and regroup on titan, while ikora went off to cry at the top of a cliff. Ikora lets her emotions rule her far more than zavala does.

Actually Zavala is by far the best Vanguard Commander in terms of how he views the whole situation. Of course he wants revenge for Cayde's death. However, and i cannot stress this enough, If we did what Ikora said, attack the reef by storm, every warlock every titan every hunter etc, the City will be defenseless. According to most War Strategists, a Leader should never wage war because of personal feelings. There are examples in history that indeed Commanders who waged war for revenge or for greed or for personal glory failed miserably. Zavala, according to the wiki is familiar with the works of Sun Tzu perhaps the most famous War Strategist. Do you think he would simply act on his feelings when he knows that War must be planned with only logic in mind and not feelings? You say Zavala is a perfect representation of Titans, a coward, I say learn about War before you judge. " As a Titan, you are a part of the City - in a way no Warlock or Hunter could understand."

I hate zavala for not wanting to revenge cayde especially because if zavala was the one to bite the dust cayde would've been shooting the crap out of the Barron's within he blink of an eye, but if you think he has a point, the tower was already lost to people much less powerful than the awoken and the Barron's, like he said, there not conquerors, there protectors. The reef has been lost, its unfair to screw the fallen that are their and victims of the scorn, but uldren is taking control of a giant piece of space crap

Zavala is a broken gaurdian, he has been second guessed and wrong far too much in the D2 storyline to date. He really should be relinquished of his leadership, perhaps Shaxx could take over. You know if Shaxx was in that room with Ikora we wouldn't be off to the Tangled Shores by ourselves.

2 RepliesI do have to agree that he appears to be a coward, honestly. Reasonings: -Fled to Titan after the Red Legion invaded to rally guardians. He didn't fight back and his plan was to flee and hide. Cayde went to Nessus for Vex Tech to aid in killing Ghaul. Ikora went to Io to meditate on why this had happened and she needed to come to peace with the fact that the coming war might result in her final death. -During Warmind he refused to let Rasputin help and had mentioned that he restricted Ana Bray from even entering BrayTech. Even knowing that what they were up against was a Hive Worm God, he still refused to let Ana commune with Rasputin for aid and instead went with a plan that nearly costed the Guardian's life. He'd refused to allow Rasputin's aid because he feared the Warmind's power, despite every action the Warmind has executed to this day has been for the overall safety and survival of humanity itself. Even killing the Iron Lords was an action of safeguarding humanity because he KNEW the dangers of SIVA and even warned the Iron Lords to not pursue the dangerous tech. -Forsaken. He refused to send aid to the Reef to avenge Cayde, with the excuse of needing to protect the Last City despite there being no imminent threats coming like Oryx or the Red Legion, and then further making more excuses saying we didn't have the manpower to engage, even though before we'd taken out a Hive Prince, a Hive God, a time bending Vex, SIVA infested Fallen 'machine gods', an army of Cabal that had removed the light of all guardians, a Vex mind that was furthering a future of extinction in the solar system, a Hive Worm God, etc... Like he says in the Inverted Spire strike, something along the lines of... "What's a battalion to you, who has slayed Gods?" Zavala. Is. A. Coward.

1 ReplyThing is Zavala is a Defender not a fighter. He sees defense as they best option to protecting humanity. And that's fine. You see our gaurdians dont need his help in the fighting and I think we all know if he joined us on a raid we would have to carry him through it. Also find it funny that Ikora says we need to send every hunter, titan, & warlock. Zalvala says no, then basically every titan, hunter, & warlock goes anyway.
