I dont want matches to continue where one player at the top gets all the kills or 98% of them and the game gives participation ribbons to the guys who did 100 damage... Please dont reward players for being bad at the game, let them improve and grow as a player. Its not year one anymore, you cant make sales appealing to the kids who play and cant do anything to save themselves in the game.

1 ReplyIf i put the work in to get an opponant down to a 1 or 2 bullet kill and run out of ammo then a team mate comes along and gets the assist kill i have no problem with that at all, I got to safely reload, team mate got a kill, the opponant died and the whole team progressed. The chances are i will get my fair share of assists too and the only way to avoid it is to go 1 on 1 away from team members.

1 ReplyYou could be correct if people's sole basis for playing crucibles was to improve their stats. But there exists a not so small portion of players out there that only do crucibles purely for call to arms and as a requirement for quests/solstice. For a player like myself I couldn't care less if the screen at the end showed I kill 2 or 10 people, it certainly wouldn't be something that incentivise me to improve my abysmal PvP skills. If Bungie had a live kill counter for completing call to arms and that was only for killing blows, that would be something that would give me an incentive to improve. If they had a system that showed a higher KD ratio = X% call to arms complete, then I would have a clear goal to hit and have an incentive to play more strategically and perhaps improve. But stats as they are shown... zero care in the world.

That decision was probably made because of the focus on team shooting. The DT website claims that the game doesn't take KA/D into account in any meaningful way and it's not part of the API. It's just a stat that doesn't really mean anything. I don't mind having it though because I don't believe that someone who gets the last shot on an opponent who is almost dead deserves to get all the credit.
