Hi,
This has happened to me a few times. I tried infusing a higher light into a lower light and it canceled out and only gave me a 1 point light increase.
I had a handgun from gunsmith that was 346 and tried into infuse into my 340 Better devils and only rose it to 341. Neither had modifiers.
Also happened when I tried infusing a spar exotic shotgun into my lower light Hawthorne shotgun and again only one point increase.
Is this a bug?

4 RepliesNope, no bug. Your statement "Neither had modifiers" is false. The higher light guns had legendary modifiers giving +5 to base level. A weapon from the Gunsmith can drop with a legendary mod already attached. You thought it was 346 base but it was really 341 + 5 legendary mod You should check whether an item that dropped from any vendor already has a +5 legendary mod and take that into account before you decide whether to infuse it

only the base power is infusable .... if the weapon has a +5 mod it's base power is lower

3 RepliesIf what you're infusing has a legendary (purple) mod on it that's a +5 that you have to take into account. If it doesn't have said mod....does it need one? Either way, the infusion system could've been explained better. Bungie had similar problems throughout D1. They seem to be doing away with the +5 mods in Forsaken so at least we wont have to worry about that anymore. If I hear any verifiable info on the infusion rules for Forsaken I'll let you know.

2 RepliesAdd a purple mod. +5!

Only base light counts when infusing, mods don't.

4 RepliesYou are infusing a weapon/armor with a mod into a weapon/armor without a mod so it takes away that 5 light that the mod gives you.
