I like strikes. Like a lot. I wear The Took Offense armor set on my Hunter, masterworked and modded to my liking. I unlocked ornaments for it too (still am). Why is the work I put into that armor being made pointless now? Will I be able to put mods on it? Will Year 1 Vanguard ornaments work on Year 2 Vanguard armor? Will Year 2 Vanguard armor be able to take the appearance of the original armor?
I understand retiring weapons, but this seems like a moot point if they don’t at least bring back all legendary armor, refitted for Year 2 (with working ornaments from Year 1)
EDIT: People seem to be confused about why I am so annoyed by this. Year 1 Armor (as far as we know) will not get the year 2 perks and mods, making it objectively inferior to year 2 Armor. Yes. I can keep it and infuse it, but it is being made arbitrarily inferior.

1 ReplyEdited by Erijian: 8/8/2018 9:23:05 PMI'm fine with them retiring certain sets, but event or eververse sets should be upped to Year 2 quality with the same static perks. Optimacy Gear (S1 EV) Mechanos Gear (S2 EV) Ugly Gear (S3 EV) Dawning Gear (Dawning Event; EV) Resplendent Gear (Solistice of Heroes) I don't care about the other stuff tbh.

4 RepliesBut what’s your point? Tell me the message behind it.

It's Bungies way of 'respecting your time' don't hate.
-
Aron our is rubbish hopefully the new stuff will have perks like d1

1 Replyall armor does the same thing. you need to retire armor to bring in MORE armor. no one wants the same junk for multiple years.
-
6 Replies#rant......Dingie does not know how to manage loot and leveling at alll........ They would rather trash everything and make you start over not respecting your time as it is easier for them.......As they have lost their respect for me and my time, I have lost it for them........The game is only a hamster on wheel game and once you get close to the cheese, they trash it...... They have lost the talent to take the game where it should be by now🤢🤢🤢.......

6 RepliesYou can infuse year 2 gear onto year 1 gear. They will have new vanguard armor and weapons from Zavala. Ikora will have new armor but it hasn't been revealed yet.

Edited by TimeSplitter510: 8/9/2018 3:15:01 PMWell, the destination (planetary) armor is staying around. Do we know if these will be upgraded to Year 2 status? If not, they will be in the same situation as the stuff that is going to be retired. My hunch is that only the things that are replacing what is retired will be Y2 compliant to start.
-
1 ReplyBungie said our year one stuff we’ll be able to bring over to year 2. Unless Bungie lied.

2 RepliesEdited by Robnoxious: 8/9/2018 12:46:02 AMHow about some new moves guardian? Maybe a new look?

Its Old?

1 ReplyBecause it's really ugly. I want my Dustwalker armor back. Or Ghost Angel. Or Bog Wild.

Year 2 armor is getting perks. Why would you want year 1 armor?

3 RepliesEdited by GrundleBeans: 8/7/2018 11:59:28 PMHow is that worthless? You still keep the armor and can use it as long as you like. Secondly, any armor you've had in your inventory, vault, or has been acquired since Warmind launched you can retrieve unlimited copies of from the Collections tab coming in Forsaken. I missed the stream today, but what I saw from other comments, the old mods are going away and being replaced. You'll be able to dismantle the mods for materials that can be used for new mods to apply to any armor. Otherwise the old armors will stay as-is in your inventory. (need confirmation from others)
Will Year 1 Vanguard ornaments work on Year 2 Vanguard armor?
Same as they are now, you can't apply ornaments on different armor unless specified on the ornaments. The Vanguard will not sell old armor or old ornaments, or new ornaments to make new armor look like old versions. Their inventory will be swapped out for all new armors and ornaments for new looks. On a side note, if there isn't a season limit to obtain certain ornaments, it's possible you could still earn year 1 ornaments for year 1 armor in year 2.
Will Year 2 Vanguard armor be able to take the appearance of the original armor?
No, it's new armor entirely. You can wear your year 1 armor if you prefer the look of it, for as long as you like. You will be able to infuse it to the higher power levels and use mods like any year 2 armor.
-
1 ReplyThe armor isn’t being retired, they’re “stopping production”. In year 2 you won’t be able to earn the armor anymore, but any year 1 armor you have or have earned can be brought up to year 2 power levels.

My guess is the main dev team focuses on producing the new content. Once that's in our hands, the live team works on providing supplemental content in the short term and upscaling old content in the long term. It's a reasonable system. The player can move on to new gear and in time it will feel refreshing grinding out for the refitted old gear.

Lol it's jus getting reskined...calm down

7 RepliesNah. if you got an item you like just dont delete them, you will be able to infuse them and bring them into year 2. They are just removing them from the vendors so they will no longer drop or be on the potential drop pool. Also weapons, if you got an element you like on certain weapon change it now as element mods will no longer be a thing, and they are gonna be fixed with each drop.
-
Because stupid decisions are always the best decisions in their eyes. They can sell a fix in year 3.
-
Now don't be at all surprised when I say this is exactly what happened in the first one. Out with the old in with the new.
-
5 RepliesThis sucks, Trials ornaments were hard af to get and look amazing and i was hoping to have super rare armor that was useful in the future. Of well course classic Destiny, everything you worked hard for gets destroyed and made worthless.
-
What do you mean? You can infuse it all up to max light if you want... There's nothing stopping you... And the armour is getting retired because it'll be a new season and a new year for the game. And so new armour and weapons are being brought in. You've had a year to collect the armour you want, and you've even said that you've got all the armour you wantand modded it the way you like What's the problem? They're removing the old armour that everyone had plenty of time to get and now bringing in new armour.
-
6 RepliesBecause the year one armour is ugly as shit especially for warlocks

Edited by Comet: 8/8/2018 4:14:15 PMIf you actually paid any -blam!-ing attention you would know that you won’t be able to obtain them anymore, but if you already have them you can bring them up to the updated light levels in forsaken Same with weapons
