I am now closing Destiny and will not be playing it any longer, WHY am I being forced to PvP to unlock gear that is to be used in PvE by me? Keep your game, keep your expansion. I play ONLY for the PvE and the campaigns. Thanks Bungle, err Bungie, I wonder if you actually thought this through. Even Blizzard Corporate is smart enough keep their PvE and PvP separate.

      • Solstice armor isn't PvE gear...it has requirements from both crucible and PvE so therefor it's built to be universal armor.

      • Every one will have their own opinions on the different points in the game. I am not a pvp player but I respect the fact that some people are. My opinion is that they shouldn’t force you to play a part of the game that you hate, be it pve or pvp. That only makes its players hate the game and not want to play it anymore. They should follow what has worked in the past for other games and give you the option of doing either. Get super kills in crucible or heroic strikes. Balance it out between the two and let players play the parts they enjoy in the game... and not force them to participate in parts they dislike. I hope they take this into account, since I do enjoy playing this game with my friends and others. And I think it would make the game better by taking into account that some players just don’t enjoy certain parts.

        • I actually do have to agree with this, and I'm an avid PvPer. I do find it a little odd that they "require" pvp in order to unlock certain items. I think it's kind of unfair to those players who absolutely loathe pvp. I think, that there should at least be an "optional" quest item for unlocking something for both PvP and PvE primary players. In other words: 1.) Defeat 30 Opponents in PvP with Supers. -or- 2.) Defeat 30 Mini-Bosses/Bosses in PvE with Supers. Is that too much to ask? For the PvE'rs, doing the Mini-Bosses/Bosses would be doable and more enjoyable than hitting the Crucible where they would have a TON of trouble defeating 30 Players. On the flip-side, defeating 30 Players with Supers in PvP for a PvP'r would be an easy enough task to accomplish because they are accustomed to that environment already. So yea...why can't there be both??? There is no "crutch" in doing either, it all depends on what "type" of player you are.

          • Crucible was better 4v4 for those of us who just wana get in and then gtfo you had all 4 players looking to stick together now we have 2 teams of 3 or a 4 & a couple of rogues nevermind the KD muppets from competitive all over it boosting stats . Bungie needs to enable choice in how a player wants to play their game even if 30 super kills in PVP is easier than (example) all prestige raid & layer completions giving players the choice would be an inclusive gesture .

          • I was gonna disagree until I realized that the Solstice commemorates guardians acts of valor against enemies of the light NOT crucible achievements. It is for people of The Last City to recognize and say thanks to the Guardians for protecting them. This isn't a celebration of our victories but the effects of them

          • It's not really PvE gear its end year event gear and PvP is apart of end game content. Suffer through like everyone else or just don't participate.

          • People just wanna argue. If you don't hate PVP you can not understand. We hate crucible and a little or a lot is still something that sucks. 30 kills with supers is 30 matches we don't want to play at all. Nothing you say will change that. So we're pushed out of the quest because we hate PVP. That was the point.

            • I wouldn't have a problem with it if they made PvP players complete more shit in strikes and especially in raids. If we have to get 30 super kills, make em get 10 mini boss kills in the raids. Kill 1000 Cabal on the leviathan. Reach rank 5 in crucible? Complete prestige of Eater. I realize they have to complete a couple things for MoT, but what about this damn armor? Holy shit, with the -blam!- up that's going on with match making, and the fact I get killed by the same super multiple times every single damn match because I cant get a proper spawn, I've never been so damn frustrated with -blam!-ing crucible

              • Stopping X for being a requirement to some achievements is possible to some degree but... How about people who don't play anything but the crucible? Should they have to complete 20 adventures, 30 strikes Y nightfalls and 3 raids? Destiny 2 is a game with different modes. You don't have to play them all, there are exclusive content and rewards for each mode, however, every year Destiny has an event that honors those gamers that play all modes with the ticket to buy a shirt. The Summer Solstice is such an event. Iron banner and the Rank crucible modes give players who enjoy pvp exclusive content. While, strikes, nightfall, and raids give people who like to play together pve things to do. And adventure mode, patrols, and remembrance missions are for solo players. I used to hate raids since I don't have any close friends who play with and felt left out on content that I paid for. but LF groups solved that. And Bungie is making some sort of effort to allow team matching raid/nightfall. So, my opinion is that I'm fine with completing different modes to obtain a particular gear, because it allows me to interact with the community in different ways.

              • The gear is not activity specific, it's just gear. Destiny is not just a pve game, so long as pvp is in it there will be requirements to do pvp. I'm primarily a pvp player and I have to do the raids. I don't like D2's raids except Eater of Worlds. So get over it.

                  • I absolutely detest crucible and it`s bullshit PVP is a requirement for the armour because it wastes my time and builds frustration and hate. Make an alternate path for any PVP requirements so we don`t have to be fish-in-a-barrel for sweats. Stop ruining my gaming experience and keep your PVP for your sweats Bungie!

I agree with those that do not like being forced into the Crucible for the "celebration" gear. I thought Bungie recognized that PvE'ers do not like the Crucible. They were on the right track separating the PvE masterworks from the PvP masterworks. They are bringing out Gambit. Then they do this????? Bungie, this is making your "celebration" stink for the PvE'ers. Maybe I misunderstood. It was not a "celebration" but a "frustration". Forcing the super kills was a terrible idea and it should be removed or cut back to 5 at the most. I can probably get that in 2-4 hours of non-stop Crucible. 30 is just stupid. It is especially stupid when combined with the other requirement for just killing 10. Why have that 10 kill requirement at all if you are going to force us to kill 30 with a super before the "celebration" ends. Someone at Bungie needs to look at the amount of time it is taking ALL players (especially those that spend so little time in the Crucible) to complete that objective and reassess it QUICKLY!! All this is doing is allowing the PvP'ers to complete it more quickly than the PvE'ers because they have more "PvP'ers to super since we are being required to enter if we want to "celebrate" too. You took something that should have been fun and made it irritating. I pushed buttons ("played" is not the right word) for MANY hours and only got to 57% with only 1 of my 3 characters. 1 hour of Crucible = 7% on another character. The % of swear words during that hours was much greater. Edit: After consideration, I'll just be putting this "celebration" armor in the vault and moving on. I completed everything but the super Crucible kills and it is just not worth the aggravation. One PvP'er said, "If you dont want to do it then dont do it." Probably good advice, though he was likely not meaning to be helpful. Regarding the achievements, I did the Leviathan once with a group of really nice people (clan members of a friend). Not really expecting to get the reward for doing it twice and that's ok. The armor should have been different. I think my achievement score is at 280 (I know it is over 250 for a shirt I won't pay for). Bottom line, no armor or armor upgrades. So Bungie, what do I have to "celebrate"? As far as the Redux, I partnered with a friend's 10 year old son and did not find it bad at all. Ran them all on all 3 characters. 2 people can get through them the first time without too much trouble. I won't have the opportunity to see or comment on the repeats with other modifiers. I like the one comment where the person suggested an alternative such as "x" number of super kills in the PvE. Maybe Bungie will actually consider that someday and separate the achievement paths better. The masterworks was a really good start and I hope the promise of Gambit is realized though I can see some PvP'er ruining that for me too. As for this event, thanks Bungie for nothing (no armor and a shirt I won't buy). I wish you better luck next time adding something of real value for the PvE'ers with less than 5 other online gaming friends who have lives outside the gaming world. While waiting for Forsaken I get to be reminded of what I'm missing every time I go to the tower. That's not "celebrating" anything for players like me. Ending the season on a sour note.

                      • Bungie should have given players two options for the Solstice armor milestones/challenges. where the player has to compete one of the two, not both. One option has the player delving into the PvE content, like getting 500 kills in Heroic Strikes or beat the Prestige Nightfall with a certain score. The second option is centered around PvP play, where the challenge is getting 50 kills in Quickplay or 25 kill with Power weapons. Completing either gets you the Solstice armor. Allows players to play the way they want to within the confines of the game.

                      • It's not just the Soltice armor needs PVP participation, it's the shear amount of it. Getting 10 kills for some is a bit of an ask, but why not let people get it Private matches? And then there's is the Super Kills. 30? Really Bungie. I can understand getting 30 regular, or even 300. But seeing as how you had all ready covered the need for PvP in the M.O.T., I don't see why we needed any more. Plus the average player in PvP gets what, 1 maybe 2 super kills a game? 3 if they are really lucky. So then, you are asking people who hate PvP to go and play an average of 15 to 30 matches of pvp just to get past the first stage of progress? So with an average completion time of 15 minutes per match, that's roughly 7 and half hours worth of PvP. Again for people who hate pvp, that is an eternity stuck in a seemingly endless PvP nightmare. Oh and then there is the addition of getting 5 wins on the rare set. I had one last point I was going to make, but decided not to give the devs any ideas that are really really bad.

                        • And if you want the masterwork set you have to get Legend in Valor and if you are mainly PvE player it will take decades and hundreds of matches before you hit Legend. And its made worse is when you are on a 5 win streak and you lose and lose all of those 5 matches instead of 1-2 boxes.

                          • I suspect the messed up the milestones for some pieces of armor, 10 kills and 30 super kills. As a warlock the latter was an absolute grind. I came to realize how rubbish some supers of the Warlock really is. Lost count how many times the opponent just casually kills me while I zap him, or the dawn blade "auto tracking" hits nothing as the hunter just prance through it like a hero on a battlefield.

I am more annoyed that I have to be in a clan to get the masterworks for the set. You have to finish heroic strikes with at least one other clan member to get the masterworks for one of the pieces. I just left my clan last week as no one was playing this game anymore. le sigh
