Just let loose, Bungie. Stop concerning yourselves with balance and trying to make D2 an MLG game - just make everything OP and FUN, and let THAT (the many OP and fun options) be the balance.
How many weapons or armor pieces, that, when you got them or when you put them on, make you actually semi-excited to utilize? Not many, for me anyway... The Colony is about the only exotic that has an interesting design that's fun to use. Almost everything else doesn't go nearly far enough with their perks and overall design.
Make them all fun, and for every super OP/unfair/whatever/FUN item, make a counter to it!
Spider bombs from The Colony a problem? Whip out The Honey Badger boots (or weapon, I dunno)! Passively reflects/kicks away up to xx heavy projectiles every xx amount of time (or, as a weapon, it can absorb heavy ammunition fired at you to be used for yourself)! Or deflects heavy projectiles back at the user! Or something! Honey Badger don't care!
People hating on the Graviton Lance meta (even though it's kind of a boring weapon on its own)? Introducing the Distorted Perception helmet! When fired on by GL, After-Image perk is activated, creating several after-image decoys of yourself going in diff. directions, GL user is also marked on your HUD for several seconds.
Or something! They don't necessarily have to be so specific to countering only The Colony or GL, they could be expanded to target more general advantages (and make them useful in PvE as well) but I'm sure there are some at Bungie with more creative minds than mine. Those are just off the top of my head. New class abilities could play a role in this kind of design as well.
Thoughts?
This can apply to Ghosts, Ships and Sparrows as well. I'm tired of the "Improved Dodging" and other similar bs, boring, useless perks.
Have an idea for a cool, new exotic? Post it in this topic!: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/247080384

Make ability cooldowns as fast as D1 too. At least in PvE.
-
2 Replieswould love to see exotic class items (not faction based) that have team bonuses like the Rat King has
-
Swordsplosion but MIRV Sunbreaker Hammers as ammo.
-
Go and do wave 1 of EP with a hunter tether, then let loose with a tractor cannon, now thats fun to use!

Whip out The Honey Badger boots (or weapon, I dunno)!
I need a piece of gear called The Honey Badger just for reasons. All the reasons.

1 ReplyBungie cannot do that because PvE and PvP share sandboxes. This could be done if Bungie separated PvE/PvP but we already know that is not going to happen. Bungie has already let it be known with Gambit that there will be no PvE/PvP separation. Since Bungie has decided to double down on integrated PvE/PvP you can expect a continuation of bland, balanced perks in D2 exotics in Forsaken and beyond.

1 ReplyThe exotic masterworks were the final straw that made me realise they just don't really get it. When I finished my jade rabbit and got a stability boost, that was me done. It's just so dull.

11 RepliesEdited by GiiantTurtleWave: 7/17/2018 3:18:39 PMI’ll try. Salem’s Fury- New Weapon type: Wrist Dart Madness will overtake them all. Special Weapon Stats: Impact: Minimum Range: Infinite Stability: About halfway. Fires straight but trajectory begins to dip over time. Capacity: Each dart is reloaded after every shot. 30 reserve ammo Reload: 1.5 seconds Fire rate: see capacity Perk: Paranoia- Enemy’s shot by a dart will receive adverse effects on their mental status and Radar and HUD are rendered chaotic. Effects last 7 seconds* Pve: Hitting an enemy (except bosses) causes them to attack each other! Pvp: Hitting another guardian with a dart causes the radar to blip wildly in all directions and EVERY player’s name and health bar becomes red on the effected guardian’s screen! *Additional info. To prevent over spamming in Crucible, hitting the same enemy repeatedly in that one life will eventually build their immunity that lessons the effects by 1 second per shot. Lastly. It would attach to your wrist a little similarly like Ezio’s hidden blade! Lol. Send your feedback!

OP does not mean Fun. Don’t mix it

Edited by Seth, Knower of Things: 7/17/2018 7:42:20 PMThis isn’t Overwatch. We don’t need exotics to counter other Exotics. That’s just dumb.

2 RepliesI fully support the distorted perception helmet. One mechanic in games that I love so much is the ability to create decoys of yourself in PvP with a perk or ability. MAKE THIS HAPPEN BUNGIE
-
How about a hand cannon called “The Bullet Gambler” where it has 9 shots and 3 of them are arc,3 are solar,3 are void That’s about it design wise imagine a basic hand cannon but with 3 smaller ammo cases in it instead of 1 big one

4 RepliesI did a video on titan exotic armor ideas. I had some op perks in there.
-
8 RepliesMaybe if we make a post where we all just make ideas for exotic weapon perks, and keep It in trending for a while, bungie might just Listen for once, and maybe who knows, we could give them new creative ideas

1 ReplyWhile going crazy with the perks may be fun, the two biggest reasons I run out of fun with Destiny are running out of things to do and mindless repetitive grinds in the name of something to do. Meaningful story and character-based content with meaningful (and perhaps dynamic) outcomes/rewards will go a long way to making Destiny 2 fun. I'll leave all the varieties of perks and random rolls to those who race through the content and cry boredom. I'm not in that camp, yet. I've still got Spire of Stars and prestige raids to do.

1 ReplyUntil PVP is separated from PVE, no fun allowed. 🙃
-
2 RepliesExotic sparrow: the Graviton Reaper. Slower than most sparrows, and takes longer to summon... but it has a Void weapon on it similar to a sidearm in power and rate of fire.

Go crazy with the exotic perks - Make Destiny FUN again!
As a PvE player, I'm all for that, but seeing how the Crucibabies react to GL and VW for example, they would have a category 5 meltdown and go even more insane than they already are if Exotics were.....Exotic.
-
Agree with your rant, totally. Destiny 2 really is lackluster, on the whole.
-
1 ReplyI read Honey Badger and my mind went straight to an exotic scout version of my Destiny 1 favorite... Giggity.
-
I agree, everything is so watered down, bungie just go crazy with the perks, already.
-
No fun for you. This game needs total balance and be fun to watch on twitch
-
11 RepliesThis won’t happen - wish it would but it won’t. Bungie still have time before release to tweak all the exotics but again they won’t as they are obsessed with “balance”. So if you like the game then you just have to put up with how bungie do it. Exotics still don’t feel very exotic - legendaries shouldn’t be the same as blues which they basically are and we shouldn’t be limited in how powerful we can get eg let us equip more than 1 exotic weapon and 1 exotic armour piece.
-
Until they build the wall between P and E, there will be none of the
-
I think you have another great point buried in your argument. Every exotic should have a counter exotic in a rock, paper, scissors way.
-
2 RepliesOP- Make Destiny fun again. Bungie- Ok get your wallet out.
