I don't mean people using Solar weapons with Arc Singe on. That's because the same guy who thought Blackout plus Brawler was a good idea made the challenges conflict with the modifiers. Sadistic jackass...
No, I'm talking about people who jump repeatedly when Grounded is active. Or run in to melee a group of Thralls when Blackout is on.
I just wasted a Vanguard Gift, three times in a row, because I kept getting matched with mental deficients who jumped around during the boss fight and got killed less than a second after being revived, repeatedly. Every time I made it ten tries before I gave up. No, I can't solo Dendron. I can dump DARCI into it and get it -almost- dead, then I get mobbed because the other two jump around like they're playing UT2k4 and are dead from the first instant of the encounter.
BLUF: How does someone get to 370+ light without being able to understand Heroic modifiers? (just about every one of these geniuses was higher than me)

I just ignore heroics altogether. :P

5 RepliesIf you want to know the truth, its that the game doesn't keep that information visible long enough for people to hover over it and read it by the time the remember to do so or wonder what those cryptic symbols mean. Bungie has a long way to go for giving information- something they like to make difficult. For example, the 3 challenges inside the crucible- those should be shown on the crucible selection screen, or during when matchmaking is up- not having to wait until in game where people have to stop what they are doing, and bring up a screen and read stuff.

3 RepliesYesterday afternoon while I was playing. I noticed I kept dying super super fast. I couldn't understand why. Then I looked at the modifiers. Bungie changed them on us. I didn't know. I was jumping around like a jackrabbit high on coke and would die everytime. Do the modifiers change every couple days or did bungie change them cause a bunch of bad players cried about the brawler/blackout combo? I'd take that combo any day over more damage while in the air. Cause like I said, my guardian is coked out of his f'n mind and can't stay grounded longer then a second and being a whorelock, she turns into marry poppins floatin ass.

because they have learning difficulties.
-
1 ReplyNo clue to be honest. They must not know go with mods and ya can do it faster and some time easier. But ive noticed the burn is nothing like d1 burns that would lower other elements. For example void burn lowered arc and solar while beefing void. This one doesn't seem to do that.
-
Well the same genius who put blackout and brawler , also didn't realize jumping is about 50 percent of what this game is .
-
Ok so... When you are trying to not get killed and a Shield Knight is charging you... The only thing to do is jump back. Other than that, ya I know.
-
Probably because no one really cares......

Edited by Lord Yoink N Bag: 7/6/2018 11:11:54 AMI just don’t do heroic strikes with blackout or grounded active. I’ll wait for Iron

1 ReplyNot all guardians are breed the same way. I usually find 1 every other strike and sure enough they die the most and/or least amount of damage, orbs created. Such a pain in the assssssss that heroic strikes, which are harder than normal nightfall has matchmaking and NF still don’t. It’s rare to team up with someone better than me at strikes (would solo D1 nightfalls). But always welcome and a pleasant surprise.
-
It's pretty easy to do. I died probably 6 times in a row throughout Savathun strike last night wondering why I was dying so easily before realizing grounded was on. It's just a strike and it's just a game. It's really not a big deal.
-
sometimes the modifiers swap between 2 games. happened to me yesterday. so they might not have realised. as others say, this is a jumpy shooter game, instincts and muscle memory kick in before brains sometimes.
-
I'd imagine part of it is just instinct to jump when fired upon given that's what a large portion of the game is about. Hard to break instinct. I have never attempted a strike with this modifier on since it seems idiotic so I can't say if I'd be one of those players who would have a problem changing what's natural to do.

In truth, I can not say I have done the same thing or been in the same boat as you but I can only guess as to why they are running the different setup. The cause might be because they are trying to do the challenges for which they make no freaking sense at all. You don't know what challenge it is until you are already in the strike. Also, they may already have completed the milestones so they probably trying to get the tokens for the next Vanguard rank. Also, I don't believe it really matters what burn it is, because from what I could tell, you don't output enough damage compare with the incoming damage that you receive from the enemies.
-
TBH I am guilty of this a lot. I don't even check the mods half the time. When I run strikes I'm more likely to run more than the three for milestones so I like to switch it up. If the mod is arc do I really wanna run stormcaller for 5 s8 strikes? No that's makes it boring. If you're telling me we can't get past a simple strike because I'm throwing Nova's on a solar burn. Them it shows a bigger flaw with in the fireteam
-
because they want to prove how terrible an idea MM would be for raids? :p cheeky sass aside, its 'cuz they filthy casuals.
-
Don't know about you but I ran my lock 3 strikes yesterday and beasted them all easy. I have only left a strike once (wasn't high enough light at the time to help the other 2 guys). On one strike last week (void burn), I ran up to the other players with the tractor cannon out so they knew what I was going to do. Blasted him at the same point a titan put on melting point, boss just evaporated.
-
Honestly, spamming my jumps with my warlock has become my main source of movement for several years now, so it's a very weird habit to temporarily turn off.
-
And this is why match making is a bad thing... Friend and I always end up carrying scrubs through the strikes e wry week... luckily I don’t have to do milestones anymore....
-
this is why matchmaking in all activities is a bad idea. a large portion of people either just can't play, don't care to improve, or maybe just brain dead. the basic activities with matchmaking sheds light on how pathetic the overall community plays.

Edited by lmaica: 7/6/2018 12:30:50 PMIf the same guy dies repeatedly for being dumb/careless I deliberately give them a timeout and don't revive. Sorry, I won't bother reviving someone that can't carry their own weight anyway. Trust me, more often than not the idiot will realize you won't be tolerating the bullshit and will play more careful or just leave.
-
The true testament to insanity is doing the same thing the same way over and over and expecting a different result? How about you stop being mentally deficient and pop the vanguard bloom towards the end of the strike genius?
-
How did a thrall one hit me!!! That's bs! (Sarcasm)
-
I don't even do my herioc milestones. I don't think a strike with MATCHMAKING should be harder than the Nightfall.
-
2 RepliesIf your usual playstyle involves mobility, and your usual reaction to danger is to jump away, things like that happen. I've made that mistake from time to time.
-
It happens. No need to use the singe for weapons. I might change the subclass for it though. All the others, I'm aware of with exception to grounded. Most times, that jump is because if I don't I'm dead, so it's a risk worth taking. If.im drinking I always forget grounded lol. After a few deaths I come around though.
