Dear Bungie,
On behalf of the all the other deaf guardians out there, the raid is, if not impossible, extremely hard without some form of communication. VoG? I did it, Crota's End? Did it. But the Leviathan? I am either A, left with nobody to take me because of my hearing impairment or B, left with an impossible task. I know you want communication focused tasks but please, please think of the deaf community. Thank you for taking a time to read this. As I don't go on here a lot if you want to ask questions or talk to me my GT is kaseinoboruto.
Edit:
Wow! Thank you all for your support! To the people who say that Bungie shouldn't "have to cater to the hearing impaired" or that they can't make an all inclusive game, let me bring up some points. It's not hard at all to make a call out system for the raid... and they have a color blind fixer, why can't they just take an hour and add in call-outs?
Edit 2: Thank you to everyone with an actual intellectual opinion (: For the trolls, go back to 4Chan please. Another note, I understand money is an issue, always is. I am simply suggesting this as an interchangeable setting (like the color blindness) that for the raids would replace your emotes with text call-outs. Thank you.
Edit 3: Thank you all so much for the kindness, I can't go through all the replies so if you would like to play with me or message me I have Xbox, GT is kaseinoboruto
Edit 4: okay, I messed up, there's spaces -.- sorry Kasei No Boruto
Edit 5: Trolls- https://youtu.be/NY9UZI1OUMI
Edit 6: I just want to thank you all for the support on this issue, I did not think this would take off like it did (: hopefully Bungie starts to take notice of this, thank you all for bringing this into the light.
Edit 7: Great news! Thanks to Geek in Tinfoil and squad I completed Leviathan! Thank you guys so much for all the support
Edit 8: Hey guys, if you can go ahead and share this post with friends or others it would be greatly apreciated, just trying to spread awareness. Either Bungie hasn't seen it or they're just ignore it at this point.

Completely understand and appreciate your post. Thank you for sharing. As someone who due to anxieties lost out on good raid experiences, and now enduring a hearing issue which i have been advised is only going to get worse so I now no longer even use a headset as it is pointless, I am going to need to look at the options available as I would really like to experience the new raid in September with Forsaken. Keep well and strong, as the guardian and person you are.

I fully agreed with you, and I think Bungie can add visual call for the different parts of the raid without any problem, but also will help if BUNGIE stop to desing raids so full of mechanics and with little real fights. All D2 raid and raid lairs are awfull, boring and extremely full of mechanics with little real fights, in our D1 clan we used to play with a little boy that their parents forbid him to use the headset to communicate with strangers and we did with him VOG, CROTA and Taken King raid. So your request for visual calls for the raid will help not only the Deaf community

Out of interest, how did you complete the previous raids?? Was it a case of stepping back, and seeing which gap you needed to fill, or was there any text chat involved (ps/xb messages)? If there was a group who understood the mechanics very well, they could assign a roll for you e.g. on the gauntlet you would have to be the runner, on dogs you would have to follow the leader, on baths you would need clear instructions on who you swap with and what your role is! Calus... well that could be a tricky one to overcome, but messages could tell you what you need to do!! I wish I knew it better, and raided more... I'd take you in my team!!

1 ReplyHonestly, I don’t feel it’s bungie’s responsibility to accommodate every disability there is out there. If yours doesn’t work with the game, that sucks, but why should we bend it around you?
-
I have a friend that has trouble hearing things too. I've helped him through a lot in Destiny and Destiny 2. If you need any help, or anyone else needs help, I'm here for ya, Guardians.

1 ReplyKasei, what are some features, off the top of your head, that could be implemented to help you? I’m asking honestly, because I’m curious what you think of. 😊 I ask also because, as someone who is not deaf, it’s difficult to consider that from my point of view. Maybe visual tutorials that give basic explanations of what enemies do? For instance, Calus stomps his foot, and the game pauses to tell you why he did it and what triggers it?

In D1, when I was an xbx'r...me and my old clan, and friends used to regularily help people - who found it difficult to raid...for whatever reason. We had no qualms in helping people. I throughly agree with the OP, it would help people tremendously. Ive actually only just got round to doing the Levi on D2, lol, I just didnt feel the need 'til now. The Levi raid I did, was pulled together off here, we had a few drop out, but 4 of us stuck it out. One of the stickers, had major anxiety, and would barely speak a word. But, we managed to work around, with emotes, shooting what needed to be shot, which direction etcs... I truely hope you manage to get the raid completed! #bungie

1 ReplyBut if you're deaf. How can you see the replies
yes this is a joke
3 RepliesI don't mean to sound unhelpful but "impossible without communication" is the whole point of a raid. Raiding is like this in a lot of games. Well maybe not impossible but extraordinarily difficult Without communication. That's because the whole point is to have a mode that is communication heavy. Where they team needs to coordinate almost perfectly. Making it different makes the raid worse. And the raids you described that don't need it are still performed much better with it. And that's also the point.

3 RepliesI had lost all my hearing in my left ear until a doctor realized what caused it & had to have a tympanmastoidectamy. Basically they cut my ear off, flopped it on to my cheek & drilled a hole into my skull in the bone behind your ear to clear out an infection in the mastoid bone that had calcified. Lucky for me I got back roughly 90 percent of my hearing in that ear. Hopefully you can find a way to raid.

Was gonna offer help on the raid but sadly I think you’re on PlayStation whereas I an on Xbox :(
-
Don't really understand why this is getting so much hate, it's a bit unfair. Do you think you could arrange certain commands to emotes?
-
Use dragon. Or another 20 versions of speech recognition.
-
they dont have to do anything, in fact, this is already in the game just not to a 100% accurate representation, you can use the emotes to communicate parts of an encounter, just assign with your team what emote means what, for example, in gauntlet, sit could mean bottom, wave could mean top and dance means middle, easy, there's always a work around to these problems if you think hard enough.
-
1 ReplyI actually have hearing impairment and considered Hard of Hearing, so I wear a hearing aid only on my left since my right ear is dead like it can't hear anything at all so it pains me whenever someone asks me a question or callout top or down and it leaves me to guess what they said
-
In Destiny 1 I remember there was at least one group of deaf guardians that did the raids together, I remember reading about them. It sucks that they don't have any type of in game text communication, but you should be able to use something like Discord externally with a group who is willing to work with you. May have to set up your lap top next to your console.
-
This just sements that if you are going to make some sort of raid... all games should have an in game text box. Period.
-
5 RepliesThey could add in "emotes" like "Top," Middle," Bottom," Left," Right," et cetera that pop up in the feed when pressed (i.e. "Kasei calls top!") but it doesn't actually trigger an animation, so players could keep moving around as normal. They could even add raid specific ones like "Sun," "Chalice," "Axes," and "Beast" for Leviathan, and "Void," "Arc," and "Solar" for Eater of Worlds. I know text chat on PC basically serves this function but there isn't really anything equivalent on console aside from the emote wheel. Maybe have it as a free downloadable pack so players who don't want it clogging up their inventory space don't have to have it.

Edited by Jude: 7/5/2018 1:50:23 PMTroll post. You haven't played in 9 months according to your stats.

3 RepliesEdited by Error: 7/5/2018 2:40:49 AMMy clan and I carried a deaf dude through the raid once. It honestly wasn’t too difficult. We just had designated emotes for the different symbols if he had to call out. Most encounters have a job that doesn’t require call outs anyway so he mostly did those tasks.

Invite sent, as well as a message to you.

1 ReplyTo your edit 1: people are still waiting for mass shader deletion. Bungie can't make something in 2 hours lol. Heckt they can't even make something requested in months, But good luck trying ;)

4 RepliesTo change the coding would no doubt be difficult and expensive so I doubt very much Bungie will modify anything in D2 or the upcoming DLC.. in the US tho... the CVAA (Look it up) is making progress to ensure enhanced communication features are designed into games to enable use by persons with disabilities. For all the goobers spouting venom on OP's post... there is someone in your life that has a disability of some kind...think about that then stop the salt. Video games have been getting exemptions under the US law but that's coming to a close. Communications features built into vid games will have to be accessible for game releases after Dec. 2018. https://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/312329/FCC_issues_final_extension_for_video_game_CVAA_accessibility_waiver.php

1 ReplyThe government issued a law once declaring that buildings and education need to be made accessible to the disabled. Once upon a time our government cared.

8 RepliesHow is being a girl important at all?

1 ReplyBlizzard isn't doing anything like this, so I doubt Bungie would either :/
