A team of nine people should not have to throw themselves off a cliff three times each because Escalation Protocol forces you to complete a public event, or else it becomes literally unbeatable because of your ridiculous debuff.
Honestly, this is one of the worst mechanics in Destiny history. Did anyone playtest this, like at all? I get that they're desperately trying to find a way for Rallies to be "engaging", even though the entire premise is incredibly stupid in the first place.

17 RepliesMaybe, you could take a break from EP for this week? Just a thought. Or if you are so dedicated to EP and not to a faction rally then don't pledge. See, awesome I fixed it. Now we can close this post.

Edited by parrea13: 6/29/2018 8:24:10 PMLet's just agree that the D1 Faction mechanic worked and the D2 Faction mechanic is an idea that probably needs further work.

1 ReplyThey can just fast travel.

1 ReplyIt should be turned off where EP is concerned. Although the thought of 9 guardians repeatedly jumping off a cliff 3 times is pretty funny.
-
1 ReplyI agree. It's fashionable though - you can imagine the round-table meetings that thought this was a great idea - make everything harder by slowing down levelling progression and making the character level weaker. 'Do exactly the same things as before, over and over, for ever diminishing rewards and a 'random' chance at a sparrow or shader. Yeah that’s as fun as fun gets!'

1 ReplyTo add on, once you're actually done with farming Rally, if any at all, if you run any PE and attempt to fast travel, that goddamn warning prompt is ridiculously long. We don't need a goddamn 30 second holding prompt to warn us that we have renown. Like, jfc...
-
3 Repliesthe solution to this is blindingly simple: only let people accrue renown while wearing your faction's emblem. Don't want to? Take it off. How this wasn't thought of before they went live is beyond me.
-
3 RepliesRenown should've made us stronger not weaker. Idk what asshat thought making us weaker would be more fun.
-
1 ReplyIf you don't open the PE chest, you don't get the renown.
-
You'd think being renowned would reward you but no it doesn't just turns me off of the faction rally entirely.

7 RepliesEdited by TheWagn: 6/27/2018 3:44:05 PMIt does screw up EP. That is pretty dumb. Needs to be addressed. Overall I like it. Makes lost sectors relevant, and makes planets a danger to be on. Enemies feel threatening. Idk I really like the change of pace. Makes it like a survival mode. Love renown. Unpopular opinion I guess.

Nine people throw themselves off a cliff but the 10th is still looking for the better devils🤫
the renown blows chunks in my opinion
You have a point that the renown system can get in the way if a player isn't trying to participate in the faction rally content. However, renown isn't a bad mechanic. You may not care about it, making it nothing but a nuisance to you, but other players enjoy the challenge the debuff creates. It creates a sense of true danger and changes the way a player fights. It's refreshing and exciting to go into combat with a level of risk and difficulty involved. And the rallies themselves aren't "incredibly stupid" either. They create a sense of team camaraderie and personal investment in a faction for a player. Clans have this effect as well, but rallies (as far as I'm aware) are the only narrative tool that does this in game. If you don't like it, that's fine. But broad statements like "the worst mechanic" and "incredibly stupid" are useless vitriol. If you take a moment to appreciate other players' perspectives you might recognize that a lot of us like this event. So instead of broad insults and implying that the developers don't know what they're doing, try encouraging positive change by giving useful feedback. I'm sorry you don't like the mechanic, and I think Bungie should recognize that there are a lot of players who don't want to be permanently affected by the rally when they pledge allegiance to a faction. Many people have suggested a toggle function, which is an excellent idea. PS. You can fast travel to get rid of your renown stacks. That may save you some time on your next protocol.

Why do people keep thinking you need 9 people to beat ep? First time we had 5, second time 6. It's not a big deal.
-
1 ReplyRenown isn’t fun at all. Suddenly being weaker is meant to make me have fun somehow? I’m still doing the same boring tasks I’ve been doing since launch (public events, lost sectors, patrols, high value targets). Making me weaker doesn’t somehow make those same old tasks enjoyable. Who would think that?
-
2 RepliesSo is everything else in the game.
-
3 RepliesThere probably should be a "reset renown" option on the "ghost" dispaly screen.
-
15 Replies9 people And none of you tought about reloading the zone in order to remove the renown ? But you still got a point, renown is cancer when you dont grind for it Wouls be great if you could only get renown while having a faction emblem.

Agreed

Edited by JohnyWoof: 6/28/2018 1:58:37 AMIt's a nuisance ,but not really a game breaker. We didn't have any difficulty completing the EP either. Just wipe until renown is gone and continue as normal. Have someone wait by the totem and start the next event at 10 seconds remaining on the countdown helps as well.
-
1 ReplyDon't worry I just had a dead Incinerator Cabal launch at me and blow me up after I killed a lost sector boss. It's really fun.

Renown doesn't bother me much at all when I'm running with Crimson and Wormhusk.
