Bungie. The losing streak is slowly killing my will to continue grinding for the claymore. Before any idiots jump in with crap replies like git gud or group up, let me explain.
I'm a pretty decent crucible player, and I've gotten significantly better with the grind. I rarely go less than 1.0 efficiency in a match, I regularly get much higher, and I've gotten pretty good at playing objectives. I certainly wouldn't brag that I'm a top tier player, because I'm absolutely not, but I'm good enough that I don't feel guilty hopping into anyone's squad and feeding the enemy team.
I grinded slowly but surely over several weeks to about 1650 glory, mostly solo queue, but with some teams here and there. While it was painful, I at least made steady progress each day. Then this past weekend, I lost 250 points in a single day because of cheaters, quitters, stacked teams, disconnections, and just about everything else out of my control. For the past 2 days, I've been grinding for about 12 hours fighting to get those points back, and I'm currently down to 1411 with a big loss streak going into my next match. In that time, I've grinded solo and with about 3 different stacked teams. For some reason, as of this past weekend, the game has just been matching me up against significantly tougher opponents that my teams have no chance of beating on a consistent basis.
I am now having to wrestle with the very real possibility that I am just not going to get Redrix's Claymore. Not because of anything I can control, including grouping up, but because of team composition. It's not even that I don't belong in this player band, because like I said, I generally score very well and have been an asset to most of my teams. I've had several opponents message me after a match to say I was a real pain to deal with. I've actually won a few 1v3 and even 1v4 situations to clutch wins in Survival. I've brought back entire teams from the precipice of defeat in Countdown. I'm not some random noon that wants to be handed the gun for free. I made the conscious decision to grind for it.
If it were just that people were better than me, I could maybe live with it. But the thing is, I check the roster before every match, and I don't remember the last time I got put with a stack of 3. I play against them all the time, but I'm never their 4th. I'm not asking to match me against entirely different player sets. It's that the groupings within individual matches are consistently bad. I've played against maybe 15 stacks of 3 in a row that I never once got paired with. Can I please just once be matched with some coordinated teammates?
These 100+ point downswings are just becoming unbearable. I have other things going on in my life. I can't just grind this game for countless hours because matchmaking won't throw me a bone. I see all these losers coming onto the forums and saying stuff like, "Just do this, just do that, it'll go by quickly." But I doubt any of those people have actually done it. The grind is really brutal for someone like me, and I feel defeated. The matches themselves have been really fun, but I'm also starting to forget how much fun they are because I'm so tilted over the unfairness that I've been dealing with.
To wrap it all up, let me just say that the fundamental problem with having a losing streak for Glory is that then the numbers don't really measure anything. What is 2100 Glory? It means nothing. One person might have to grind 10x as long against 10x tougher opponents for the same amount of points. When I see all these streamers running around with the Claymore that they got in the first 3 days since the expansion, it bothers me because I know my grind is a bigger accomplishment than theirs. It's mathematically irrefutable. Oh, I get that they won a lot more. But they also didn't lose countless hours of progress either. It's like asking 2 people to make fire before it rains, but 1 is allowed to use matches, and the other has to rub 2 sticks together. I get that the guy with matches accomplishes more in the sense that he can light it quickly, but the guy rubbing sticks together is busting his butt way more, only to have it rain before he can finish. Why would you design a VIDEO GAME that way? Is it not supposed to be fun?
I'm not asking for the grind to be easy or quick. I'm not asking to get it for free. I'm not asking to make it so the weapon isn't really exclusive. I'm just asking that if you're going to make it a limited time seasonal reward, you don't screw me over and erase several days worth of progress. Why is that a controversial or crazy request? What does that have to do with gitting gud? Honestly, my purchase of Forsaken somewhat hinges on getting the Claymore. As silly as that sounds, the fact is that I have never grinded harder for anything in any game ever. I've devotedany hours and even days to individual pursuits in games before. But I have been grinding every day for several weeks for this gun. Every day for weeks. That is an unprecedented level of grind. And I am close to quitting and cutting my losses. Why would I purchase more of that experience? Think about it Bungie.

In in the same exact boat. I gave up on competitive weeks ago. It would be different if rank mattered and you matched against similar rank but this is just “trials lite” to tide the MLG players over through the week. I’ve come to terms with not getting claymore even though I know I’m more than good enough. Team composition is more the determining factor than overall skill in this playlist.

1 ReplyGave up on comp long ago for quitters and laggers. Valor rank reset 4 times. Glory never moved a notch from zero.

2 RepliesEdited by Hi babes: 6/15/2018 1:05:07 PM1.0 efficiency isn't even a positive k/d. In fact that's pretty -blam!-ing piss poor. Git gud.

Dude, most don't even get that far playing solo.

1 ReplyEdited by LBZRacing: 6/12/2018 5:52:48 PMIt’s really not worth it. Trust me, I am 110 flawless which is like #6 in the world. getting RC would be a snap but I’ve not even tried! Why? Cause it’s not worth it IMO

5 RepliesHate to break it to you man but 1.0 efficiency is pretty bad. Means you're probably around a .5 or less k/d during those matches. Seeing this game is teamshot simulator you should just start hugging whoever is next to you for dear life and follow them like a lost puppy... your efficiency will greatly increase.

It's a Three Graves with an extra perk that makes it work better for a few seconds AFTER you've already killed someone. I understand that that response doesn't satisfy the valid points you raised, but I am hopeful it is some small solace.

the perks are good, but without those two, that gun is utter garbage. don't even worry about that gun. so many others that are better

1 Replyyou lost me at 1.0 Efficiency thats a worse kd then 1.0 bruuuuuh git guderino and redrix is not even useful in comp , only on pubstomps
-
1 ReplyIs it really even worth it? From what I've seen of that weapon it's pretty average even in skilled hands.
-
7 RepliesNot everybody is going to get the gun, and that's ok. You're not owed the claymore.

2 RepliesI've been playing a little Comp., but it feels like the number of people playing is low, I keep getting matched with the same people and/or slow matchmaking, so I'm out. I would like to play, I'm bored of the casual playlist. Maybe it's because of mayhem or the faction rally or both?

1 ReplyThat’s the “true intrinsic joy”. Bathe in his vision of mediocrity.

I have been having the same problem. I just wrote a post talking about how Bungie should have a matchmaking system where fireteams are paired with fireteams and solos are paired with solos. This would make it a little fairer. I personally think this would be a good fix to the ups and downs of glory ranks. That would hopefully cause more consistency in the general incline of the grind for the claymore. If you were to graph my glory rank, and apparently yours, it would look like a toddler had a seizure with a crayon.
