Faction Rallies is set to return at 10 AM on 6/5. Last week we covered the majority of changes to the event, but there were a few housekeeping notes for the Renown system that we wanted to make available:

• Faction Rallies now features the “Renown” system
• After pledging to a faction, players may earn Renown by completing a public event or patrol, or by defeating high-value targets on destinations
• Players who loot a Lost Sector with Renown active will receive significantly more faction tokens than usual—the more stacks of Renown they have, the more faction tokens they earn
• Renown is lost when players are defeated by enemies, so be careful when you're attempting to loot a Lost Sector with high Renown!
Renown increases the level of challenge in gameplay
• Health regeneration is vastly reduced (all stack levels)
• Enemy kills have a chance to drop health orbs (all stack levels)
• Player damage decreased (scales with stack, up to 5)
• Incoming damage increased (scales with stack, up to 5)
While Renown is active on a player, others around them can see which faction the player has pledged to:

Note: Renown displays which Faction a Guardian is pledged to, but only from a third person view. This functionality applies to all players.
Faction Rallies will continue to feature a Winner’s Offering to the faction that earned the most rank packages during a given event. These rewards will then be available in the rank-up reward pool in the following event. During Seasons 1 and 2, New Monarchy dominated the charts. We’re eager to see whether Dead Orbit or Future War Cult can rack up some wins.

While I do enjoy bringing the challenge back to what is usually a yawn fest, I think it could be toned back a tiny bit. Even at 2x stacks it takes MINUTES for your health to start recovering unless you use an ability that starts recovery. Perhaps cut that in half and you'd have a great system.

So if we miss out on say a catalyst this season is there a chance to get it later? It’s something that changes gameplay not cosmetic. Not complaining just want some clarification on if we can’t get to rank 50 during the first rally will we be able to get all the catalysts?

21 RepliesWell, it took me about thirty seconds to become completely freaking sick of "Renown." Especially when I found out if affects EP. Look, I wasn't a huge fan of having this health regen system back when it came out in Nightfall...but you know what, it's Nightfall. It's supposed to be hard. Ditto for Heroic Strikes. I'd even say you could make an argument for having them in the Lost Sectors. But making it so EVERY TIME you do a public event, you get three stacks of "Renown" that trigger this -blaming- health regen debuff...whoever came up with this stupid idea needs to get hog-tied and dumped on a nest of fire ants. I don't want to have to kill EVERY SINGLE ENEMY in my path on Mercury just because my stupid health won't regen!! It's enough of a pain to complete the weekly milestone without dealing with that! A few solutions: make some way for the player to "opt-in" to the debuff. Maybe by equipping a class item specific to the faction or something. That way, the masochists can have their fun, and the rest of us don't have to DIE REPEATEDLY to get rid of this stupid debuff so we can run some EP. Or another public event. Or, heck, just walk from one end of the map to the other without dying or being forced to kill everything. Alternatively, does anyone know a way to unpledge from a faction? ...man, I miss Destiny...the first one, I mean. (For anyone at Bungie looking for GOOD ideas, I always thought to would be fun to choose which perks activate in a patrol. Maybe do a Nightfall card setup for patrol, with various drawbacks/bonuses for the buffs/debuffs? Imagine running a patrol with DAYBREAK active. How fun would THAT be????)

3 RepliesI really want to like Faction Rallies. I really do. I was a huge Dead Orbit guy in D1. And you know what, admittedly was at the beginning of D2 as well. But this "renown" stuff is really really bad. It's not even challenging. It doesn't make Faction Rallies more fun. It just makes it super annoying that my health won't regen unless I find one of those light things an enemy drops BUT I DON'T WANT TO KILL AN EMEMY CAUSE MY HEALTH IS LITERALLY LIKE .01!!!!! Please Bungie, get rid of this renown crap. You know it's crap too.

Perhaps the real word for your scamtacular “buff” should be... Been doing melee hits on Hive with Arc Stride, when melee is fully charged, and they don’t register for progress on the new ornament... 🤬 EDIT: found a relatively quick way. Frostee’s boots, run in circles at The Rig spawn, when melee charged go into public event area and melee hive. Repeat run. 😎 EDIT #2: Make sure you don’t have any Renown on.... 😂

I'm OK with it. One or two suggestions I'd make are... 1) maybe every 2 or 3 consecutive lost sectors you complete without losing any max renown, you could get an extra 10-20 tokens (depending on full faction armor set or not). 2) maybe allow us to do 2 additional lost sectors back to back without losing renown if we do 3 lost sectors consecutively at max renown for a total of 5 after the 3rd. You could put a counter on screen for the consecutive max renown. Option 3: both suggestions 1 and 2

Like some other people have said between work and family life the grind for some are just to much. I dont want to take away the grind from other people but for some they will never get the all the catalysts that faction rallies has to offer this season. As for renown during EP not a good thing and that it makes your damage output weaker slows the pace of the game

I think that the reward for a max renown lost sector turn in should be larger than just 2 more tokens over a 4 renown turn in. With the way it's currently set up, there's no real motivation for getting to max renown first versus cashing in your renown immediately.

2 RepliesNice pick with the Renown system To improve it i will suggest that the Renown applies to ALL sources of Tokens and not only to Lost Sectors And maybe, just to keep the rally even more alive, add Tokens for Strike complention and Crucible wins, I think it'll be awesome Grinding public events for 5 tokens of Renown for 10 Tokens in lost sector is literally too much boring IMHO

Edited by RomanIsNotOnline: 6/8/2018 2:12:08 AM- Aura is cool, let us keep it even with 0 Renown during the event. - EP giving you Renown is bad, please disable that if possible - Need other activities to be more efficient for getting tokens so we're not compelled to ONLY run Lost Sectors over and over - Daily & weekly Bounties to get tokens or other stuff - Consider making Ornaments account wide. I would rather they be harder to get than having to play a class I don't feel like playing that day - Consider Renown in Crucible, but something other than weakening you. Maybe multikills raising Renown and you get more tokens at the end of match, or something like that

I’m not sure if I like the renown debuffs, I feel like it should celebrate our strength as guardians not neuter us. I also think faction rally should either A) last longer, or B) always be around with a weekly lock in akin to D1s system. A week is an insanely short amount of time if your goal is to collect everything from each faction, especially with how you slowed down the gameplay loop.

2 RepliesThe grind loop is fun maybe should add adventures to get you a quick 5 renown The only problem is the aethstetics of the gear... It's all the same and boring and some of the gear just straight up looks too cartoonish seriously some of the gear in the game looks like it's from a little kids cartoon... Not trying to be mean or offend any developers but the mid teen-adult crowd. Which I'm sure is the majority of players might want some more darker themed gear....thats a general thing about the whole game.... The tone needs to be less childish and more darker or militaristic...this is a shooter game... Let's get into the last city politics and scandals and other things related to war... This is an entire universe at war and yet everything feels so safe...its kinda boring.

The Renown system is good. I like the challenge. I hate that I can only pledge 1 faction per account. Especially since the Graviton catalysts is DO. My warlock should never be anything but FWC. Lol

I'm really happy with the renown system, but I think it can get annoying that you always get renown even after reaching rank 50 at the faction you pledge to. There should be a way to turn it off. Also some of the challenges for the dead orbit ornaments are a bit buggy right now. Espescially the warlock chest kept frustrating me since there is no real way to grind those high value targets specificly. But in the end it was fun, got all the ornaments for every class in 3 days. Keep it up Bungie!

2 RepliesRenown is in my opinion a really good system that needs to be expanded upon. First of all please allow the auras to show at all times, not only when in 3rd person mode. Also resetting renown back to 0 after completing a lost sector or fast traveling is not something that should happen... let us carry that renown anywhere we go and see how long we can last until we loose it all, even for strikes! Make the payout huge! After all the crippling effect is honestly pretty steep. One last thing, please stop adding rewards that should be found around the world such as catalysts, and instead add Faction Themed Rewards for Max ranks. I feel like adding catalysts or stuff like that to specific factions give players the wrong kind of incentive to pledge to them. When a player joins a faction it should be because they love that faction and believe and support their cause, not because a certain one has a non faction related item that you want. That’s all for now but also please consider allowing us to somehow earn a permanent faction aura, I would grind to hell and back to get something like that. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work!

You should be able to purchase the armor still for faction tokens. RNG armor plus trying to grind out all these ornaments is crazy.
