Wow... The raid community has become a bunch of pricks in D2. No one is willing to teach anything. Posts like:
"Must have 30 clears no exceptions"
"Must be an expert"
"Must have 50 clears" (yes that was real)
"Must know exactly what to do"
"Don't bother of you don't know what to do"
I know the player base has dropped off by 90%, but damnnnn. It looks like snobs were left. I had thousands of hours in D1 I raided all raids hundreds of times (except WoM, it wasn't fun). My clan knew everything about the raids. TTK we could run prestige in under 40 minutes. We often carried people 2 at a time and ran that one at least 5-6 times a week helping people. We tought people ALL THE TIME.
No one wants to teach anymore. I get it, people just want to get the raid done. I've been there... Countless times. Hell, my characters are 370, 372, 372 and I'm seeing nightfall NORMAL requirements for 370+!!! It's a 270 NF! Even for prestige you don't need to be more than 350-355 (unless you're going for a high score or grinding). We all did prestige at 350 or less. This community is sad now.
Screw all that shit! I'm searching the forums for guardians looking for help. While it looks like i won't be raiding at least i can try to help some kinderguardians and salvage some of the community.

So nothings changed then

6 RepliesI totally agree with you. I had a quite heated debate with a few players today on what constitutes skill in this game. Their opinion was that multiple raid clears on their emblems showed great skill.... To which I replied... Multiple raid checkpoints with stacked teams, spawn camping enemies requires skill? Real skill is being able to complete raids with untried players and staying civil and encouraging throughout multiple wipes.

Kings fall absolutely no noobs allowed!!! No ToM? Kick!!!! No spindle? Kick!!!!

There are still plenty of teaching/carrying posts. Elitists and people who want to get it done fast will always exist. I'd rather run it blind the first time anyway.
-
My groups cant be the only one to just make posts and start with whoever joins first. Could care less if youve done it or not.
-
Must be a noob.
-
I want to get it done not faff about carrying your noob self. Raids are designed for the more hardcore Destiny player git gud

I have noticed the same, I’m a 364 on all characters and only ever done parts of the raid. I want to do it but the guided games queue doesn’t ever put you win anyone and I’m always asking in groups. I have watched videos but in D1 we always went on learnt and did the raids here I get no one message back because I haven’t cleared it.

I'm on Xbox and need to learn both raid lairs. I've never done prestige anything other than nightfall once. Gamertag is RexJester7. I'm down for the fun aspect of raiding and helping teach after I'm taught once. My clan is dead and I'm the only guy left so I'm even open to a new clan. I play every week still whenever I can. I'm normally on around 7:30AM EST.

4 RepliesI remember when you couldn't get into a raid because you didnt have Ghorn.

i cant find any raid teams for spire because of this problem i got kicked out of the only 2 games i was invited to before we even started

6 RepliesEdited by Stillnyte: 6/1/2018 7:04:10 PMIf you're on Xbox, throw me a friend invite. I'd be more than happy to teach you how to do the Prestige Raid. I was in the same boat with many other people until I met someone who was kind enough to help me learn the Prestige raid and I want to share that same kindness. All I ask is that your Light Level is around to 370. Hell, if anyone would like to learn it, send me a friend invite with a attached message. My GT - Stillnyte(Xbox) I'll be on later tonight and all day tomorrow(if nothing comes up).

Spire is actually really easy once you get it- it’s completely understandable ppl don’t get it because the boss fight is flung together like a jigsaw puzzle. I learned it from playing with lfg players and not watching videos. I teach ppl and they either get it or don’t. Can’t always spend hours and hours so don’t take it personal when ppl ask for other players with multiple clears. On that note I completely agree that some ppl get extremely ugly when they understand how to do something and others don’t. When I meet them I just block them on the app so I don’t ever accidentally join their posts in the future. Problem solved.

2 RepliesSorry but this is nothing new my friend. It’s been going on sense VOG back in 2014.

Edited by Ilikelamp7: 6/1/2018 6:13:41 PMThey were always like this... nothing has changed Going on LFG is asking for it.

It's as if you think this is new... It took me a year before I finally did King's Fall

1 Reply"Become"? Where have you been. We need two level 30's with ballerhorns for Atheon, NO 29's.
-
Has become? It has mostly been like that since VoG.

Yeah, totally understand your point. Been raiding ever since VOG and have currently concurred every raid challenge Bungie has thrown our way. Just completed SoS yesterday with a group of randoms with one never having entered it before. It's not the amount of completions that determines the caliber of a raider; it's the individual skill, ability to communicate, and adapt to new situations. Therefore, I don't condone the elitist gamers with their ridiculous demands (which only indicate a lack of patience, empathy for others, and confidence in their own ability). That being said, I do have my own preferences concerning my raid compatriots. I prefer playing with people older than 13 since I relate to them easier and have found that they (usually) have higher levels of concentration and patience than younger players. Also, I would ask that they have a basic working knowledge of the raid mechanics and strategies prior to entering said raid. Everyone has a life and responsibilities outside this game, and that time should be respected. Also, online tutorials and sherpa services are easily accessible for the first-timers who desire to begin raiding out of the blue. That is what the Clan function in D2 is designed for at its core: to aid fellow clanmates with content that they struggle with (be that raids or trials). Regarding class and power level restrictions, I totally agree with them (within reason). Some raid encounters are just much easier and less frustrating with certain team builds. The recent SoS boss battle is a prime example (5 arcstriders + 1 hammerbro = 1 extremely dead Val Caluor). Similar situation for escalation protocol. Does this mean that some players with only one or two characters will be left out? Unfortunately, yes. However, the vast majority of players desiring to enter into end-game activities probably have 3 alts anyway. Power level requirements are simple enough, if they meet the minimum or exceed it, they've in. Nothing complicated about it. All raid parties should be composed of the optimal set-up available. It's just a good and efficient strategy. tl;dr-sorry for the lengthy diatribe. Just wanted to express all my personal views on the matter. I definitely do not condone the smug selection methods of elitist scumbags. They will eventually reap what they've sown anyway. Hubris always catches up with you.

I feel like during VOG and CE days, there were lotta helpful bastards. It kinda went down when KF came, but not extremely bad. IMO, AoT made raid cooperation go downhill.
-
I tried guided games once. Otherwise I don’t raid with strangers. Problem solved.
-
Exactly why i don't raid with lfg teams. Every single team I've ever lfg'd has been a nightmare. Either it's a raid general ruining the fun for everyone or someone that can't get the mechanics down and spend more time teaching than raiding. I'll get to max light without the headaches. Maybe a lot slower but will enjoy it far more.
-
Just post your own lfg post and make your own group. Take in like minded people that are in your same predicament and go from there. I have been doing this for the raids since warmind came out and never ran into any problems. Start with normal Leviathan and when you complete it ask if they are all down for a quick Eater of Worlds run. 9 out of 10 times they will be and then you're good to go.

Edited by Just_Too_Sexy: 6/1/2018 5:40:03 PMI feel like this was a D1 thing though. People had to have the Gjallarhorn for Crota so Bungie nerfed that weapon. But seeing how they cant really control what people require for their own teams, they decided to make quests so that everyone could have the big name weapons. So in short, this isn’t something that will change. Unless they are already friends, noobs who are strangers quickly become burdens because they mostly care nothing for your time and are in it for the loot. “Thanks for the run” and then they’re out and you did that for what to be a good and nice person? I say make friends first, they’ll usually have more pity than a stranger will.

This is mmo raiding in general. Once content is no longer brand new people go back to being toxic. Nothing new to Destiny.

1 ReplyIt's not people's fault, Bungie is making these raids too steep for casual groups of players forcing natural selection process for the best players out there just to do content. I think they should make two versions of the raid, clan version and casual version with matchmaking to keep players playing and having fun the way they want to.
