The Destiny raid community has become pretentious nobs

Wow... The raid community has become a bunch of pricks in D2. No one is willing to teach anything. Posts like: "Must have 30 clears no exceptions" "Must be an expert" "Must have 50 clears" (yes that was real) "Must know exactly what to do" "Don't bother of you don't know what to do" I know the player base has dropped off by 90%, but damnnnn. It looks like snobs were left. I had thousands of hours in D1 I raided all raids hundreds of times (except WoM, it wasn't fun). My clan knew everything about the raids. TTK we could run prestige in under 40 minutes. We often carried people 2 at a time and ran that one at least 5-6 times a week helping people. We tought people ALL THE TIME. No one wants to teach anymore. I get it, people just want to get the raid done. I've been there... Countless times. Hell, my characters are 370, 372, 372 and I'm seeing nightfall NORMAL requirements for 370+!!! It's a 270 NF! Even for prestige you don't need to be more than 350-355 (unless you're going for a high score or grinding). We all did prestige at 350 or less. This community is sad now. Screw all that shit! I'm searching the forums for guardians looking for help. While it looks like i won't be raiding at least i can try to help some kinderguardians and salvage some of the community.

  • Wow and here I was going to try and join someone to do them since I have never done them. D1 was great in the day for getting help but obviously not for D2. Who cares, the gear isn't overly fantastic anyway.

    • I’ve only raided three times so far in D2, all within the last week. Every time I found a group relatively quickly using the Legacy Fireteams feature in the app. All three groups had no posted requirements and were willing to teach. Maybe I got super lucky, but there are laid back, helpful groups out there. Keep looking.

    • It's very hard to carry people in these raids, the mechanics and wipe system are unforgiving. I often raid with my clan members who are all experienced but even then it's very easy for a raid to go tits up and drag on for hours and hours. We never seemed to have these issues in destiny 1.

    • here's the issue with your logic: What other people do and want has zero affect on what you do and want. So when you go making posts about LFG groups (which have ALWAYS been pretentious and snobby from the get-go, IDK where you've been the last 4 years) and how you hate how snobby they are, those parties, have literally NOTHING to do with you and your game experience. Your desire to complain about them only shows how 1000% petty you are. They have every right to be proud of their raid clears and experiences. They have every right to post requirements for their party. If you don't like it, go away, you aren't forced to look. You're forcing yourself to look.

      • Nope The Destiny community is suddenly full of non raiders looking to raid for light level increases. Experienced raiders are suddenly stuck with people who don't no how to do it joining raids with no attempt to learn how to do it (watch a vid at least) before hand. If you think that experienced raiders who do prestige in an hour suddenly want to spend two hours trying to kill callus on normal you are off your rocker. The requirements are solely for time purposes.

        • Every time I post lfg's they usually look similar to: "Fresh Run, Leviathan, Normal, Be Chill" need 1. People that join party usually ask, "You need me to be a specific class?" To which I reply, "I don't care"

          • Stop ya bitchin, if these “groups” are “pretentious nobs” as you call them, maybe you could create your OWN Lfg post and take in like minded individuals, stop being butt hurt and put in the work. Instead of writing a whole damn essay on how much “bullshit” you deal with. I for one hate when people don’t know what they’re doing.

                • there is still a tonne of posts that dont require clears. For me and many people, we dont have alot of time to play, i work over 60 hours a week 6 days a week, leave home at 5.00am and get home around 5.00pm, still need to do housework, cook dinner ect, i dont have many hours to actually play this game, so if i raid, i want the team to be stacked as hell and knock as many out as i can in a short time frame, sadly this is the reality for alot of people. I dont think its being snobby, its the fact of we are looking after our best intrests, not everyone has the time to sit back, explain every encounter, wipe a bunch of times on each encounter, over an hour goes by and your still not at the boss, people are leaving, going afk.. thats not for me... Plus some people dont actually want to learn, they expect to get a carry through the raids and you can tell, you explain everything to them and they do pretty much the EXACT Opposite to what you just said, clearly not even listening, nope, im done with that.

                  • Right? I remember back in D1 I put up posts specifically saying “I want to teach noobs how to do the raid” I did it with every raid, I taught people how to do all of them. In D2 I don’t any responses because all of the noobs know that the forums are the worst place to look

Make a post like that and ask for a sherpa, don't burden random groups who want to get it done by being clueless and expecting them to teach you, if you can't at least watch a 10 min video don't join for an hour and half raid [quote]Screw all that shit! • Ppl looking to do a raid for the first time is one thing, if they've researched how to do it beforehand, well great! I've helped ppl like that b4 plenty of times. But the ppl that are totally clueless and expect ppl to teach them EVERYTHING? 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕 How f*cking hard is it watch 1 of the NUMEROUS Youtube videos that explains, in detail, how to complete each encounter, including challenge mode versions? If ppl are still clueless and want things explained, wasting 5 other ppl's time in the process, well guess what? F*ck off you lazy scum. Learn the encounter first. If you at least know what to do, ppl might give you a chance. If you're having trouble finding an LFG post that'll accept you, well here's a bright idea... create your own. Here's a template: "Noob that doesn't know what to do wants to be carried by team of 5. Please explain everything to me several times and don't die, because I'll need all 5 revive tokens. And then I'll still wipe the whole team at the end of each encounter, right before we complete it, because I don't know what I'm doing, even though you've explained and demonstrated everything to me 6 times. Must have a spare 6 hours, because it will take me that long to get it right." Any clueless Guardians out there, that have no idea how to do any part of any raid, but want to do it anyway... post that. I'm sure everyone will drop what they're doing and make helping you their first priority.

                      • Things like 30+ completions I can agree with but some people don’t want to spend hours on a raid because people don’t know what to do, it’s not that hard to watch a video on the raid first.

I just join regardless of the requirements. They can kick you for your light level but 90% of the time people just assume you have the completions if your wearing an old D1 emblem. Edit: I watch Datto’s videos to get the mechanics and then specific group strategies can be picked up easy. Don’t join if you wanna go in blind because it’s not someone’s else’s responsibility to teach you.

                      • The key is that you have to show show some dedication and make youself known. Next is to take a look at LFG read their requirement try the ones that are reasonable, weed out the ones that seem prickish. Sometimes the reasonable ones may be prickish as well, just leave and try again. Sooner or later you will learn the mechanics and eventually get your first completion. Continue finding people to raid. Eventually you will find a clan that will take interest on you and invite you to their clan. Once you have a good clan you will not have the need to LFG anymore...

This is why so few bother with NF and raids and don't use LFG. They don't want to put up with that mentality. Edit to add: sad part is you get into the vicious cycle. "Of how do I know how to do a raid when I can never complete a raid or get anyone to help me do a raid" if no one is wiling to teach no one can learn. D2 lost all the people that were willing to teach.

                          • I agree with you. It definitely started in D1, but I feel its just gotten worse over time. With as many that has left the game, it has caused a major divide it seems. Either you have friends and raid weekly, or nothing. I haven't raided at all in D2. Basically with all the clears and elitism, it is getting harder and harder for people that want to raid get to raid. Yes, i understand people just want to, "get it done", but it seems that is what it has almost all become.
