Anyone just kinda...”Meh” now?

I’m enjoying the Warmind dlc for the most part and I think the improvements they made to exotics are nice and all but I gotta say...the grind this time around just isn’t what it used to be. I used to hurry home from work to get online and game all evening before the weekly reset. Now I’m just kinda indifferent to it all. I really don’t care if I get all the cool new loot or not. There’s no incentive for me to anyway. We still feel weak and sluggish and that sense of awe and wonderment seems to have been mostly lost. And the writing. Oh gosh the writing is atrocious. Who in their right mind thinks this is permissible? (The art team knocks it out the park as always though. Nowhere near God of War levels, but good.) That’s not to say there aren’t some things I’m genuinely enjoying because there are. But it just feels like at this point...it may just be too little too late. Anyone else feels that way? I want to care. I really do. I miss how much fun this game was, and can be at times, in spurts. I just can’t bring myself to feel excited about it much at all anymore. Escalation protocol is awesome. Well, it was the one time I was finally able to get in it with nine people. But that’s just it. A metaphor for Bungie. The best activities have always been the least accessible. The hardest part about this is how they don’t realize it by now. After all this time. The most fun things to do shouldn’t be the hardest to actually even be allowed to do. It’s extremely exhausting just repeating this rhetoric over and over again. Come the fall expansion, I’m gonna take a serious look at the level of “do I rly even give an eff” before even considering spending another cent on this once incredible franchise with near endless potential. You all may wanna do the same.

  • After playing the beta and seeing the farm, I knew D2 was going to be utter trash. Pre-ordered and have not even played CoO or Warmind. I quit playing Destiny over 6 months ago after logging in almost 5k hours in D1.

  • I'll be honest, I finally got into raiding finally and it made the game exciting again. The tricky part now is finding people to raid with daily.

      • Honestly the weekly milestones etc has always been brutal and unrewarding for me. The ONLY reason I'm doing them now is to get my light level up so I can do the actual activities I enjoy in Destiny. (that's not a -blam!-ing patrol, or the same strikes over and over again).

      • I'm starting to feel it as well. Especially after that $10 iron banner emote crap. I was excited at first - can you blame me? I automatically assumed an iron banner emote would drop from the iron banner. I immediately set off to the iron banner in the hopes of getting the package. However, I soon found out that the only way to get it was to break out your credit card. I thought Bungie would have at least learned by now.

      • The “meh” itch is starting to appear in me as well. Warmind was great at first and then I was right back into “are the milestones done for this week? Yes? Ok, time to do something else.” I’m grinding IB rank because why not but that’s not sustainable. It’s a weird situation, a game company that wants you to play their product but at the same time encourages you to stop playing rather quickly each week. I don’t understand how that is really a sustainable game design model.

        • After 2 weeks of playing again, I said to myself, "But why?" I still feel weaker than my Guardian was in D1, I got nothing to chase other than "The Look" of my Guardian. Why Isn't there "Be Powerful(Legend) and Difficulty". If I hadn't played D1 all it's years I wouldn't have a problem with this

        • Ohhhhhh......careful there possum! You'll have the fanboys rip you a new one and call you "entitled" and "ungrateful". You'll also be accused of never being happy with Bungie and even the edgelords will chime in with "Bye Felicia" comments. Despite the fact that you echo what most of us feel and are clearly part of the majority you'll also be told your nothing but part of the loud minority. The unwashed masses are coming for you.....may Jeebus have mercy on your soul. I shall light a candle in your honour and notify your next of kin.

I think it's the lack of variety of things to do while at lower levels. EP will be loads of fun when you're above 380 and don't need nine people. Logging in and having a lot to do is what kept me going for a while in Destiny. Now that a lot of the people I used to play with have gone on to other things, D2 has been a little less fun. I'm going to see how things shape up by September. I've had some friends come back and dip their toes in the water, lately. My son also just bought me The Witcher 3 Complete Set for my birthday, so I've always got that to fall back on when bored with D2.

            • So far it's pretty good. but I wish legendary armor had some unique perks. I remember we had armor in D1 that reduced a certain kind of damage or gave you a faster melee. I don't know, maybe those could be mods.

            • I jumped back on D1 the other day, (got a warlock I'm running through again.) I'm at the start of TTK and I can honestly say it's been fun, I've run that content countless times but it remains fun, my warlock is 400, and pretty much wrecks everything that isn't a boss or minboss he feels powerful, and I'm still working at leveling his subclass nodes, I'm also leveling D2 characters and it really does feel like a chore by comparison so much so I'm just bringing the titan up and then I'll be done.

                • Yeah, I feel the same way. Honestly, when I got through the campaign and saw what the actual "game" was, "meh" kicked in right away and hasn't gone away. In D1, I raided with my clan, obtained all the quest weapons, chased and grinded and quested from vanilla through AoT and had a blast. If I didn't get on when I got off of work, I felt like I was missing something. And Tuesday reset felt almost like an event. "What's the Nightfall? Who's teaming up with who? Bang out your heroics because it will be raid time next." Never missed an Iron Banner, either. In D2... meh. I haven't even started the Sleeper Simulant quest or finished the Acrius quest because my clan is gone and I refuse to LFG, so I'm rolling solo. What's more, I don't feel like I'm missing a damn thing. The magic of the game is gone. Bungie lied too many times, have "been listening" too many times, and keep doubling down on Eververse (a $10 emote? Get the eff out of here). This week's TWAB is more evidence of this - people are screaming about Escalation Protocol (except for people in big active clans and/or who can no life this game), and Bungie is just going to "see how things go". It's fostering more toxicity than Trials and is a damn near unplayable event in a public space for anyone who can only play for a couple hours a week and are seeing their progression stagnated, and Bungie is tacitly cool with it by not even addressing they see a problem. This is not the experience I invested 3 years in, and I've found way more fun and excitement playing other things. Keep your "steps in the right direction", keep your "they're fixing it" (after 9 months), keep your "players are returning in droves" - this isn't what Destiny was and never will be again. TL;DR - Agreed. This game is the definition of "meh".

                • If exotics happened more often and granted a higher light level everything would be fine.

                • I agree, I don’t consider it a bad game, but it’s just sort of underwhelming now, “oh it’s time to do this again” whatever “this” may be. Just a typical grind

                • By the time I finally load into the area I was heading, I don't care about what I planned on doing. I've actually just started a different game while waiting for the tower load. Beta/day 1 Destiny player with both moments of triumph shirts that has no interest in signing on more than once after reset to see if d2 is still a dumpster fire.

                • Very much sadly. I did milestones on my warlock and then attempted to do them on my other two characters and simply gave up. What makes it worse is stuff like IB not awarding valour and only the armour ornaments actually being worth the grind. A grind that we have until september to bother with (if at all). Escalation is just a pain to try without spending an hour getting a team together and then harassing people in instances for help. I've noticed that a lot of people are getting to that stage we got to with Court of Oryx i.e. if you didn't do it for the first few weeks then you simply never bothered at all. I've noticed even high level players just leaving the zone when someone starts EP. Exactly what we saw for Court. This does not bode well for an activity meant to stimulate end game players.

                  • I'm definitely not caring as much as before when I played D1 for hours a session. I keep telling myself that I was gonna do this or do that before turning on the game, but then I just don't do it. At best, I complete one of my three characters' milestones for the week. The grind is just not there for me anymore.
