Anyone just kinda...”Meh” now?

I’m enjoying the Warmind dlc for the most part and I think the improvements they made to exotics are nice and all but I gotta say...the grind this time around just isn’t what it used to be. I used to hurry home from work to get online and game all evening before the weekly reset. Now I’m just kinda indifferent to it all. I really don’t care if I get all the cool new loot or not. There’s no incentive for me to anyway. We still feel weak and sluggish and that sense of awe and wonderment seems to have been mostly lost. And the writing. Oh gosh the writing is atrocious. Who in their right mind thinks this is permissible? (The art team knocks it out the park as always though. Nowhere near God of War levels, but good.) That’s not to say there aren’t some things I’m genuinely enjoying because there are. But it just feels like at this point...it may just be too little too late. Anyone else feels that way? I want to care. I really do. I miss how much fun this game was, and can be at times, in spurts. I just can’t bring myself to feel excited about it much at all anymore. Escalation protocol is awesome. Well, it was the one time I was finally able to get in it with nine people. But that’s just it. A metaphor for Bungie. The best activities have always been the least accessible. The hardest part about this is how they don’t realize it by now. After all this time. The most fun things to do shouldn’t be the hardest to actually even be allowed to do. It’s extremely exhausting just repeating this rhetoric over and over again. Come the fall expansion, I’m gonna take a serious look at the level of “do I rly even give an eff” before even considering spending another cent on this once incredible franchise with near endless potential. You all may wanna do the same.

  • I will not be buying or even considering buying the next expansion until well after the warts have been exposed. I bought D1 & all the expansions well in advance, had a great time playing all of them as well. Now, my 200 person clan is down to 70 people & most of them are just to lazy to leave the clan. Hell the clan leader has not even been on since October. I have no idea what Bungie has been thinking. Won't be buying D3 either. All the Good will I had for them has been toasted.

Good post. My meh moment turned into frustration about 1-2 months into D2. I loved d1. D2 has no enticing carrots placed upon any sticks anywhere for me. I have the warmind DLC, but I was already so meh that I haven’t even bothered to try it out. I haven’t seen great things when reading about it.

    • What has changed the game the most for me is the ability to silence the dialogue. Strikes are soooo much more bearable now, especially Savathun's Song. Heroic modifiers are nice to have back as well.

      • You're not alone bro I'm going to play destiny 2 casually because I love Looter shooters but I am not investing or caring anymore because why should we care when they don't even care, well the artist and the devs care and they're awesome but whoever's in management and is approving all this BS needs to go and as long as that person or people stay in that position this game will never ever succeed and become what it was supposed to be. I'm just tired of being lied to and let down time and time and time again and then!! expected to be patient!!!! and forgiving!!!!! and as well cough up more money. If they would just own up and apologize to us I would maybe feel better and actually feel that maybe they do want to change but they don't do that, so to me it just shows that they don't give a shit and see us as $$$$$$$$ and the only way I see things changing is if everyone just stops playing and stops buying anything to do with Destiny. But that won't happen because Bungie has a majority of the community hypnotize and then they have the shill streamers and YouTubers that lie out of there ass for Bungie to convince people that the game is better and the game has changed when reality its bs.

      • super meh, and after reading about the exotic armor updates, even more so. they are reworking hunter gauntlets that i have literally never seen anyone use to something maybe one person might use occasionally when they are using a side arm. (it probably pairs well with Sturm and Drang but its so situational that i just don't see the utility) after seeing them give some pretty nice buffs to different exotic weapons i was a little hopeful for the armor but... meh and why not rework the feedback fences right away, those things are a joke.

      • Yeah. I’ve given up hope on this game getting better and I seriously doubt I will buy the next expansion. I keep holding onto the idea of Bungie turning it around but at this point it is about time I let that hope drop.

        • Not liking something is totally fair. I think a lot of people here on this board struggle with how they actually "feel" about the game. Some of it is expectations, some of it is the reality of the situation - but end of the day, it has always been and will always be just a videogame that people give WAYYYY too much power over their day to day lives. That's my feeling =)

            • Yeah they shot themselves in.the foot with "making content is too hard" garbage. Just a linear multiplayer game now. Mediocre game at best and they dropped what made it special.

"Meh" pretty much sums up how I've been feeling since around last November. I had a small spike of interest with Curse, but that dwindled after a month. Another small spike of interest with Warmind, and it's already dwindling. I'm clearly not alone because my friends and many clanmates seem to follow the same trend, with a bunch of them already no longer logging in or only logging in a couple hours a week. For me, it boils down to a broken sense of progress. With everything tied so explicitly to milestones, it feels like once those are done there's no reason to keep playing. No random rolls to chase, no rare chance of loot drops that might be a slight light level upgrade, no record books or collection kiosks to complete. It's log in, do milestones, log out. (It certainly doesn't help when one of the milestones is bugged, either.) Between the bugs, the half-truths from Bungie, the fact that they abandoned making good raids in favor of these copy/paste element raid lairs, the lack of unique loot to chase, the bland teamshot festival that is PVP... I just find myself wanting to play something else. A side note for Bungie: I find Ranked Battle and League Battle in Splatoon 2 to be more engaging and entertaining multiplayer than anything in D2's Crucible.

            • Other than the exotic buffs everything else has been a huge disappointment, which lets be honest.. kinda knew it would be. The comments made in the Twab just re-affirms my not buying the Sept expansion.

In 1 year of me playing d1, I gained just over 1200 hours... d2... l highly doubt I even have 500. 😔

You bring up a lot of good points. I think this is one of the posts that Bungie needs to hear and take in. I'm an artist. When I do a commission or even a work to give to someone the last thing I want to see or hear is 'meh' and that they don't feel their money was given a proper value. I think that feeling easily translates to Bungie and their creation that is Destiny. We want to be wow'd, in awe, or for the game to evoke a full range of emotions. Granted, we surely can't get that all the time because nobody can please everyone all the time. What they can do, though is let us feel powerful. Powerful. To become legend. I still don't feel that way. How is it that I can be over 9000 and still have have a level one shank in the EDZ still kill me? Either it shouldn't, or it should take a long long time. I don't know the remedy if we were that powerful. Perhaps level scaled instance based planets or heroic variants of planets? Of that, I'm not too sure. I do want to feel like a Guardian who has killed God's, but maintain a challenge at some point. I'd imagine that's a tight rope to walk for Bungie. Also, if you're having to question why you're playing a game, then don't. This isn't one of those 'git gud' or 'if you don't like it, then leave' comments. Truely, your time is valuable and it shouldn't be spent playing something that is meant to entertain when it's not. There are plenty of games that give you a great return on investment. I'd recommend: Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, or The Witcher 3. There's many others, but those come to mind. Again, I'm not trying to tell ya what to do, but I'm giving suggestions because I've been in the same boat. Hope you enjoy whatever ya do!

            • Yh the improvements are good n all but with the engrams dropping all below my current lvl there’s no point and getting the EP done is a myth considering that no 1 I know plays this people I knew and played with came back then after week they left again I’m not doing the milestones for scrap so I’ve gone back to checking the forums for updates. I can’t see what is in the game holding people till Fall they really need to pick a direction for this game and stick with it is it loot shooter or are they gonna do a COD and just scrap the campaign in there next game and just focus on PVP.

            • It’s not just you man, the content is old and stale. I don’t think throttling gains back this hard is good for any game, and doing it at this current time in D2 with so little of everything is just madness. They should have waited till a full expansion.

The light actually mattered back in the day now it doesn't. It was nice when you got a higher light you actually did more dps to the adds. Now it is just numbers. It takes the same amount of bullets to kill a add no matter what light your are. It's sucks
