Is Iron Banner pointless?
No level advantage or gear drops higher then soft cap? Am I missing something or is it just glorified crucible for ornaments? The banner used to be a great event, now just... pointless? Help me understand Bungie?
Also, if you don’t raid then how do you lvl past 145!? Milestones don’t really help? I was hoping banner would help but not at all. What the hell? Why is banner so useless!? It used to be the way ppl who didn’t raid got higher light level? Suggestions?

Other than the Call to Arms we have 0 reason to grind any IB matches other than to play 6v6.. Rewards are all low power, and what does my fifth low power item do for me? Legendary shards Tokens are turned in for more low power gear we already have.. thus more shards. Seriously is our rewards shards or just that its 6v6?? The progression system was swung way to hard towards raids and trials... Probably cause only like 10% play them. Bet Bungie figured this would drive players to them.. just driving me to stop playing.

15 RepliesIron Banner was useful to solo-players like me in D1 because the gear that would drop, you might remember that IB gear would drop from IB matches, would always be higher than your current lightlevel. This would allow for solo players who couldn't raid or to trials to raise their power. Very slowly, mind you, but it was a way.

9 Repliesapart from a 6v6 pvp experience ? nope all gone. it would have been a great experience if it would have counted towards valor. which to doesn't. so : no gear no progression no power matters no valor just 6v6 with no rewards that progress you anyhow

Used to love banner. High level drops for sucking balls in PvP. All my back up gear maxed and a few decent weapons dropped. Now it’s just a team shooting ornament grind.

lets see: -can't help you leveling up -their unique reward is on a pay wall -solos vs teams -lag -titan gear season 2 was better ...pointless

Think Iron Banner is just there for those who want the cool looking ornaments and want something to grind for, along with some of the weapons which aren't to bad either, other than that, it's not endgame it's just an extra event to have more to do.

1 ReplyBungie should not of taken away the ability to upgrade our gear/light level through Iron Banner. This was the major reason many looked forward to and grinded IB.

I don’t bother playing it anymore, like you say there is no reason to jump in and try for the drops that would help you increase power level as the drops in IB no longer have that advantage.

Absolutely pointless. Ornaments are fugly, weapons are nothing spectacular, maps are too small for 6v6, it just doesn't serve any purpose for me personally.

1 ReplyThere are plenty of ways to level besides raid or ib. Nightfall, crucible, flash points, doing 3 strikes, and if you join a clan you'll get another powerful engram. These will all get you past your current light level. As for ib, why play? It's different than the weekly crucible and offers some different gear. I play to have fun and I am having fun playing ib. Iron Banner in D1 - Loved it. Iron Banner in D2 - Will try it ( in the hopes it gets better ), Get sick of crappy awards. And Quit - again.

Iron banner used to be the place where most people that didn't raid went to level up. Now it's just for reskins with no valor or glory ranking..

1 ReplyIron Banner is pointless for me. I originally wanted to collect the armor sets for each character. However, I get nothing but sidearms and fusion rifles everytime I cash in my tokens. So, yeah, it's pointless for me.

1 ReplyNo incentive for me to play....no higher level rewards and the sh!t token system spoil it..I used to play every IB all week for leveling up and good weapon rolls,i think i played around 5 games last time round and 0 so far this week.

That's the same I was thinking and I am very disappointed just hit level 347. Absolutely no reason to play iron banner this time. Please Bungie allow matchmaking for raids than you will have 100 % more people playing this game

Ad soon as the banner fall map drop for me I'll stop playing. I've just been smashed five games in a row it's not fun and thr rewards suck ass.
