Skill-based matchmaking? Sounds good theory until you go up against someone like this...

Because you aren't really going up against that person. You're going up against the top 100 player he hired to get his 51 flawlesses and his 816 glory score.
A .52 kd player with 51 flawless runs where their kd magically jumps to over 2.5?
Skill-based matchmaking pairs you based on in-game stats. So this guy gets paired up against people with similar stats. This is why the matchmaking needs to be rank-based or using some other metric that prevents this clown with working the system.
Bungie, you need to ask yourselves something.
Can you make this a fair playing field? Can you prevent mods, Ddos, and account recoveries?
If the answer is no, than you need to take the incentive out of cheating and adjust the loot drops accordingly. I am all for skill based rewards, but the way Trials and Glory are structured are incentivizing cheating. I get that excellent players need rewards, but you obviously cannot deliver a fair playing field to ensure their gains are not ill-gotten.
* For those that don't know how to read the image, the person in question has god awful stats and yet has 51 flawless runs and an 816 glory score despite being very poorly rated.
**BTW I checked his game history and these aren't carries. He magically goes from .52 kd to 2.50 kd plus when ever it counts.

1 ReplyI've already ran into teams that have new accounts with them to fool the matchmaking. Not to mention the laggers and whatnots but it's not really surprising anymore.

3 RepliesWhat makes you think it’s an account recovery? The players total KD over time is well into negative territory. Quickplay and trials match based on connection. So matches are likely to be blowouts one way or another. Even bad players get lucky from time to time.

1 ReplyThe problem is your lack of skill

5 RepliesI called that the ranking system would be bad for this game. I will say I told you so.

1 ReplyDedicated servers would fix at least some of this, as would requiring people be on their primary console to play competitive and trials. Restricting pvp to the primary console would kill the account recovery business overnight.

This game is a mess constructed around Eververse.

1 ReplyEdited by JJIBIIIS: 5/20/2018 8:45:23 AMI’ve said this about Overwatch, I’ll say it about Destiny! In a ‘Competitive’ environment there needs to be as little avenue for manipulation as possible and competitive by name will bring out the competitive nature in almost everyone and that’s from the average joe trying his best to someone not as skilled but more devious in mind starts to look for avenues for a upper hand! Competitive should be solo queue period and for one reason! It’s a skill based competitive game and as soon as a variable comes into play whereby manipulation is at hand, every player involved has their skill affected! Lower against higher skill will lose to the higher skill or more to the point, the stats off the better player gets boosted further by playing against canon fodder rather than an equal match is that fair on either end, no, that goes for every match with a carry, that’s not including the unfair disconnection advantage that is forced to be played out 6v5 is not competitive by nature and not is a grandmaster rolling noobs or is that how they have grandmaster or at least some, manipulation the system as it’s designed, I find it really strange that a competitive environment allows such manipulation, but then without manipulation you don’t have the control, funny that and always begs the question! Consider this; Just ten people in a week are carried to grandmaster/highest glory rank! For the following weeks that these ten players lower in the ranks and over that period each player has one hundred games before they reach their true rank thus losing the majority off matches unless carried! due to lack off skill! How many players skill ratings are affected by just these ten players! So 100 games times 4 for the opposing teams, that’s four hundred players that are already better having their stats boosted by this one players lack off skill! So 100 times 3 for the players on the same team, that’s 300 players that are ‘supposed’ to be the same skill as the player that’s been carried, but the carry is still further needed to be carried by incrementally lowering skill players over that period, in other words it gets harder and harder to carry the carry thus effecting the skill level of slightly higher levels players and putting each off those in the same team at a disadvantage for that very reason! So, 400 benefit further and 300 lose out, that’s why Overwatch is a greedy mess built on making a buck through pro play! That’s why competitive needs to be solo entry so skill is skill on an even field and not manipulated as easily as carrying your friend with a 1000 skill disparity, nobody ever thinks off this!!!!

2 RepliesGuess I should sink my glory skill rank into the ground by throwing games and then picking on all the bottom of the barrel noobs too. This is why overwatch has placement matches and you get your points and rank instantly, instead of starting at mythril and scratching out a few points each game from 0. Imagine the outrage if Overwatch did that.
