Anyone else only playing because you bought the season pass?

I was always excited and eager to play the expansions and DLC of D1. Friends and clan mates would farm materials and engrams (which did work a few times) then chat while waiting for the new content to open. However, I have not enjoyed D2 like all of D1. I’m only playing Warmind because I bought the season pass and don’t want to “waste my money.” Most of my friends and clan feel the same and once they do the campaign and maybe the new mode then they will leave again. Anyone else feel the same? This isn’t I hate Destiny or fire Luke Smith post. It’s just asking if you are in the same boat. Edit: To clarify, my point isn’t I hate Destiny (which I stated in my unedited post) it’s that in the past I was excited to get new content. This time around a large part is “I paid for it and might as well play it” feel than excitement. D2 has been a let down but i hope this is a turnaround. Edit: Beat the campaign. It was short like I expected and it does set up an interesting plot development for the future. I don’t like the power progression being so slow. Why is the new mode set for 370 recommendation but we can’t really enjoy it till a grind of 1-3 weeks? Why does the heroic strike recommend 350 but drop gear below that level? For instance I’m 345 and getting nothing to help progression even slightly from strikes. I’m an alpha/beta and day one player but i don’t get why Bungie can’t find a nice sweet spot for progression because D1 Vanilla was too slow and this seems just as slow. Why did Bungie not test and prevent the bug not counting heroic strikes for milestones and the quest? I am entertained but I suspect once I get the exotic sword and do the secrets, then I’ll be done. What I’m certain of is I’m not going to pre order the fall expansion or any Bungie products until reviews are done or enough friends give the thumbs up. None of my friends are happy with D2 and we loved D1 so I trust their opinions more than “critics.”

  • Yep, this is my last DLC. Destiny just isn’t fun anymore. My thoughts on this DLC: 1. Strikes are still useless. 2. Snipers are still useless. 3. Campaign still too easy and too short. 4. Ms. Bray, like Osiris, totally useless, shallow, and for endgame nothing more than a another useless vendor. 5. This DLC... much reused, recolored assets from WOTM. 6. Bungie still not listening.

I haven’t played curse of Osiris or warmind (actually haven’t played destiny 2 since nov). But why didn’t bungie combine the content of curse of Osiris and warmind to make one bigger dlc? If they did that, people wouldn’t be complaining as much about how short these expansions are. Seems like they’re trying to stretch out the little content they have. I rather them spend more time to make a coherent and an intriguing story instead of rushing an expansion to please fans. Two really great dlc are always better than 4 mediocre dlcs Never can understand what they are thinking.

      • Yep, I had bought the digital guardian edition. So since I own it might as well play it. Otherwise, I would of never bought these expansions

      • Yeah D2 is the same old trash with the developer's creating the same old boring FILLER content to continue the stale cycle. Another new character who is randomly thrown into the story that also wears the same capes/costumes as some of the main characters. Another addition to try and make it seem like the story or campaign has any coherence or reason for existing. This story is so pointless its sad. There is no attention getter and nothing to amaze players. Just like its always been Play a game like God of War and then play Destiny's campaign and realize what a joke this garbage is. PvE is nothing but scattered AI's thrown throughout the area so you can shoot and thats it. There is no additional abilities to earn and the few mediocre weapons and exotics do nothing to truly enhance the pve and pvp experience. Its just literally an insanity cycle of the same old shi* thats repeated DLC after DLC. USE SOME REAL INNOVATION BUNGIE AND START PUTTING IN SOME REAL WORK. Collaborate with other game makers like the one noted above and ask them how they were able to make such a great game with endless content that is worth grinding for to actually enhance the overall experience. Implement those strategies; not your repetitive failures. Your welcome for this feedback. Hopefully you take it serious

        • We killed a worm god so easily and after 2 missions by poking it with a stick! Killed a lesser god the mission before. Oryx and crota were raids. Lazy as fùck again.

          • A few story missions and some chores? 2 missions in - "its time we solved this, together. what say you?! Its about time..." cmon bungie, do you even play video games? Its like wall street bankers got high and decided to make effing videogames for people who like wasting money. You got so much backlash for years and just gave everyone the finger. So i guess the feelings mutual, later bunkie

          • Same boat. Though I actually like Warmind somewhat. Just wish they added a Prison of Elders type event instead of what we got. PoE was awesome.

            • Sort of. Since there really is so little to do I've been playing other games more. I still enjoy D2, but at this point it's nothing more than a two hour fix a week to knock out some milestones.

                  • I got the season pass for free. My thinking is I might as well see what I get out of it. I finished the campaign for Warmind last night (took 2 and a half hours which included some time in the tower) and it was ok. I'll probably level for Escalation Protocol and see how that goes. I still never finished Curse of Osiris, that was just so terrible that I never bothered with it. Bungie is going to have to reinvent Destiny 2 from the ground up this Fall if they want even the slightest chance of me buying the Fall DLC.

I Loved the shit out of Destiny: TTK and the April Update. Rise of Iron was pretty good too, it was just the SIVA seeker swarms that'd chase you after you would crit-shot a devil splicer it felt like it was punishing your precision kills... which was lame. Destiny 2 at almost every facet is a dumb down boring version of its predecessor. The big wins D2 does have are its QoL improvements like direct fast travel to planets without needing to return to orbit every time and the vast improvement of not constantly being kicked out of your menu during loading sequences. Throw in the few new improvements that came with this update and I might consider D2 now as interesting as when destiny first dropped. All it needs is more perks on guns and armor.. with randomized rolls that make the constant loot drops worth getting excited about... if only to check the rolls before deconing it... I still remember feeling thrilled every time I got a Badger CCL or other reward for that matter and seeing the roll that came with it that ended up being a major winning combo.
...Or seeing your gun had Exhumed on it and saying "OH NO it has gun cancer, I better euthanize it."
• I prefer the shooter mechanics of Destiny. However, none of my friends are playing it. So, if I wish to play the same game as my friends I have to set Destiny down for my solo days. I do enjoy this new expansion and there seems to be plenty to chase and look for, but I was seriously let down by the story missions. 5 missions to tell the story was not enough. I needed some filler. Some missions and dialogue to expand and get me excited for the final battle. It was fun, but too easy and too soon.

I came back and was all in. Actually enjoyed Warmind believe it or not. But I say that with every DLC from the months of no new content. So take that for what it’s worth. But then, just when Bungie reeled me back....I saw they’re class locking us that don’t play but one class. With all the issues with this game, this is so dumb. This is how they decided to curtail Light progression? Alienate a segment of your player base when you are trying to bring players back.? Who’s bright idea was this?

                      • Yeah I’m in this boat. My plan is to play through the campaign to see Xol and then uninstall D2. It’s been an interesting 4+ years with some awesome times and many frustrating, disappointing and lacklustre times. My main issues are: - The narrative of Destiny feels both lazy, incompetent and rushed all at the same time. - The game as a whole, to me, feels like Bungie are taking the easiest, most boring option each time and even then, they seem to make a mess of it. Frankly, I just get more engagement out of other games these days and I’m happy to close the door on this franchise and Bungie as a game developer. No, I won’t be coming back with the September Expansion. They had their chance with Destiny 2 and in my eyes they failed. Moving on...
