1 ReplyEdited by TheArtist: 5/4/2018 5:00:05 PMSpeed limits. Traffic laws. Airbags. Guard rails Electronic restrictors limiting top speed. Drinking age is 21. Adolescents pay the highest insurance premiums. “Financial Responsibility” ( mandatory insurance) laws. State laws limiting how much freight and or trailers a truck can haul. If our gun laws were even half as sane and and responsible as the ones governing motor vehicles, I’d be a happy man.

36 RepliesPlenty of the things you said are already the case. Cars are regulated quite heavily compared to guns.
-
1 Replycompare the main usages for these two: -vehicles are used to bring persons/cargo quickly from one destination to another. -guns are used to kill/threaten. also: yes driving license at 16 is stupid.

1 ReplyThe Dodge Challenger Hellcat or better yet the Dodge Demon. I mean they don't even try to hide it in the name, it's like right there! A car like the Dodge Demon would be a weapon of mass destruction in the wrong hands. So many times people go out and buy a car based on what their ego wants. And only after they buy it, do they find out that they are not capable of driving it because the car is too powerful. Now the one thing I will mention that no one else seems to have caught on to when it comes to comparing cars and guns is this: people kill people. Whether it is a car, a truck, a gun, a knife, a rock, a hammer, piano wire, an arrow, an axe, with fire or with poison, it is always people killing people. People have killed people since the beginning of time and they will continue to do so until the sun goes Supernova and consumes this planet. Every single person alive as within them the potential to kill someone else. Those who say they do not are liars. Next to sex, killing is something that humans do quite a lot of. One only has to look at recorded history to see the death toll inflicted by humans. When it comes to driving, most people are careless. Which of course results in accidents. The word accident implies that it was beyond their control.. And that is a load of crap. Getting behind the wheel of a car and then driving distracted because you're eating, drinking, talking to someone, looking at your phone, Etc, is carelessness. It is a disregard for yourself and everyone around you. People who drive carelessly often end up in collisions resulting in a loss of life. The death toll from collisions each year far outweighs the death toll from gun violence each year. It is getting so bad that every single state is implementing new laws making it illegal to hold a phone in your hand while you drive. This will be a great source of revenue for each state as people are addicted to their phones and will be unable to put them down. Lastly I will tell you this, gun ownership is a right, a driver's license is a privilege.

10 RepliesWhy is driving cars legal but not tanks?

Well cars help me get from one place to another, put sex on my table, and food in my bed. Ever tried riding a gun to work? It's not pretty.

I can’t imagine how empty your life must be for these forums to be worth so much of your effort.

4 RepliesI love these arguments about how you take almost a necessity, unless you use public transportation, bike, etc, and then use ignorant analogies to try to justify making a firearm a basic necessity. Outside of the military, or home protection. I’m gonna see if my pistol will physically feed me, wipe my ass, take me to work, or do anything to better my life. Nope. It just sits there until I decide I want to touch it.

16 RepliesEdited by Uncanny_Vale: 5/4/2018 10:54:05 PMYou’re totally right. Nobody needs common sense legislation for cars. Nobody needs a licence to drive cars. Nobody needs speed limits. Nobody needs road rules. Nobody needs car registration. Nobody needs safety regulations for car manufacturers. Nobody needs seatbelts. We should be able to drive our cars wherever and whenever we like. If I want to drive on the sidewalk through red lights at 200mph with spikes on my wheels Mad Max style I should be able to - stay out of my business government.

2 RepliesYou tried so hard OP, but you've failed again.

You had one point. 21+ to drive imo. Seems like nine times out of ten, when I pass a young person behind the wheel, their eyes are aimed at their lap. Granted, people of all ages text and drive, but in all reality, youngsters are most often too inexperienced to truly understand the danger that is distracted driving. Furthermore, teens are more prone to texting and driving. As an extra, driving sometimes involves making high pressure calculations, those that teens are not prepared to make behind the wheel. Typically, the first reaction is to slam the brakes, which is commonly the cause of their wreck. All of this may also apply to a majority of adults, but my point is that teens are much more susceptible to such faults. Permit driver ages 15-20. Full license at 21. CDL at 23. Excessive? Perhaps. Necessary? In my opinion, yes.

We all know that the vast majority of mass shootings that involve 4 or more victims are carried out with hand guns. We also all know that the vast majority of gun homicides are carried out with hand guns. But if this is your argument for why we should not ban assualt style rifles, it's just sad. Comparing a gun to a car is like comparing an apple to a shoe horn. It doesn't make sense. The reason it doesn't work especially in this case is the only thing these rifles are good for are plinking and killing people at range. These weapons are not ideal for home defense and they are not ideal for hunting. Let's talk about home defense first. A shotgun with double ought buckshot is going to put anyone down and you don't even need to aim well. Second choice would be a .45, mine is a Sig 1911. But wait my AR has a 30 round mag you say. Let's be honest if you are going to need more than 5 shells or 8 rounds you are dead anyway. On to hunting, let's be honest anyone who uses this as an argument does not hunt often if at all. Any self respecting Hunter is going to want a reliable and accurate, sub moa rifle. Thats honestly all that needs to be said on that. I do not want to ban any gun. But you and people like you using arguments like this make gun owners look like idiots. If we do loose our rights it will be because of idiotic arguments like this one.
