Any use farming the vanilla areas for rep once I buy CoO?

I am quite new to Destiny. I was just curious as to whether there is much point farming for the rep rewards for the lower gear once I buy the expansion and move on from level 20. For example I have just hit level 20 and was in the process of farming the EDZ to get some rep/rewards from Devrim Kay. Then I suddenly thought well I'll be moving on to better/higher level gear when I buy CoO (which will be very soon). I assume the gear farming in the first game areas was really for before the CoO DLC was released & the level cap was only 20. Basically is there any point farming these people pre CoO apart from armour and emblems? I'm thinking I may aswell move straight to CoO as soon as I complete the vanilla story and farm there instead for my gear improvements. I realise some like to complete everything just to say they have done it but would that be the only reason to do so now? or do these rep vendors offer something else important regardless of level? I hope this question made sense. I wasn't sure how to best word it. Thanks

  • You'll still be farming chests/public events on other planets for Prophecy Weapons.

  • Right now I'd say run through the story, play your strikes, do some public events. Loot drops pretty freely so I wouldn't worry about infusing any of your legendary armor or weapons that you get. Just use whatever gear, weapons have the highest light level. Once you start hitting around light level 295 its going to get harder to reach max light so that might be the time to get the Curse of Osiris dlc so you don't have to worry about the wall you'll normally hit once your close to max light. Thats probably it as far as the short version goes. If your planning on buying the new dlc in may I'd probably save all the tokens you get until you finish its story.
