I'm having a hard time understanding why this Toxic community is sticking around

Honestly. Like if you hate the game and bungie why are you still on their forums spreading hate. Move on. It's ok if you hate the game and feel like Bungie let you down. That's fine. There are hundreds of other titles to play. But why stay here? What's the point of sticking around? To make everyone who enjoys the game still miserable? Do you want to make sure Bungie feels the wrath of your unhappiness? Seeking attention from your fellow self-loathing peers. This generation loves building a toxic culture. Nothing better to do with your lives so you hop on the bandwagon.

  • I would say have an open, not an inbred mind about what I'm about to say. People want this game to succeed, that is why they stay around. Many are frustrated but I will say no matter how constructive or positive the feedback is you people will generalize it as hate and toxicity. I hate that word with a passion btw, stop crying about people wanting better game.

  • I have a bad habit of coming here. In D1, I came here daily to see if anything new and exciting was coming. I also wasted 6K hours into the game (loved pvp) and enjoyed my time in PVE and looked forward to watching this game evolve over time. If I knew in advance bungie was going continue to grow the game with reskinned content and the same enemies year after year, as well as changing the look and feel of the game.. I would of never bothered with this bullshit company. I got my money's worth for sure. Even with D2.. But it's not about that.. It's about participating in something that you could call your home and be apart of something great as the story evolved and the game expanded for the better over time. . I wanted to be apart of something like Warcraft. That idea abruptly ended when D2 was released. I should of played warframe instead. Good thing Anthem is coming out here soon and hopefully it will be that game I am looking to invest a lot of time into, enjoy and hopefully it evolves into something great and they don't pull a bungie on it's community. But for now, I'm going to talk shit about this game and company. I'm pissed off about how it went. I'm pissed I wasted so much time into something that just turned to complete utter shit.

  • I legitimately hate people like you, You are all like "why don't you just leave" and we keep having to explain how we love this game and that we refuse to leave because we have hope for the franchise and the game itself. We want to live out the epic game bungie has promised us but right now the have let us down and we want to fix this game

    • For me, I believe I've spent so much time on Destiny that I just can't completely switch off. I know the game isn't that good, that there are tons of other options out there. That what I want is an FPS/RPG and the closest this game ever got to that happened over 3 years ago. So I complain that it isn't what I want it to be and hope they'll move it back closer to where it was. As of late I'm really, finally understanding that that's not going to happen and being butthurt that they killed the game I wanted to play isn't changing anything. So, I really plan on calling it quits after the Warmind DLC. It was a fun run for the most part, but what the current Bungie team wants the game to be isn't what I want so there's really not much left to do but move on.

          • Everything you wrote is true, I hate myself therefore I have to build a toxic culture to fill the emptiness in my life. Bungie has certainly felt the wrath of my unhappiness... You know just the other day I was disrespecting women and minorities when someone asked me if I still played D2. After chiding the man for being gay, I told him, I just love the lore and gameplay and feel that if a few personnel changes were made, Bungie and their parent company could really have something worth playing. I then kicked his adopted child and bid them -blam!- off... I just hate the game so much I guess, maybe the vigorous enthusiasm I put into commenting and playing the game really is hate! Come to think of it... I did call a Jewish man... Oh god! MY LIFE IS A LIE Edit: Really, what is the point of this post, if you really hate the community why are YOU here on the COMMUNITY FORUM populated largely by sarcastic Jackasses like me. Bit suspect, really...

            • I think if nothing else, some people stick around to rant and vent frustration, because that’s just what humans do, it’s intrinsic to our very nature to blow steam. But most stick around because they see the potential the game has and are, in vain, trying to influence the direction the games changing development takes.

            • Because I fell for bungies lies yet again and bought the dlc pass. I don't vent on forums anymore i wasted enough time doing that throughout d1 now I'm just talking with my cash and time. If this next dlc doesn't go a long way to fixing the game then I'm gone it's as simple as that they won't get anymore money off me.

            • Because. People liked destiny one for what it was. Perhaps almost like a hobby. Destiny 2 included radical and alienating changes at almost every turn. People are generally not feeling the “true intrinsic joy” a certain bungling sandbox designer had planned for the masses...but I guess we the sweaty unwashed masses just don’t understand his so called “vision”. His incompetence is legendary and isn’t changing course. Thus, players continue to be angered.

            • For me? i was a bungie fanboy, i supported them like a team, bought all their shit, listened to everything they put out, played every bit of content. They were an essential part of a hobby of mine for over 15 years, in fact i spent all day today playing Halo Online on PC, bungie still delivering me quality gaming time even though it's indirectly. I'm not okay with just walking away from all of that, even though this current iteration of bungie is a complete joke, it's kinda like your favourite sports team, they cant win all the time and you'll shout and scream and call them c*nts when they're losing, but you know they can be winners again, with the right direction and hiring of decent people, they're your team you don't just jump ship.

              • You are complaining in the forum about people complaining in the forum? I could ask you why do you enjoy and play a shitty game. I dont because i dont care thats up to you. So i dont judge you. You paid for the game, you come to the forums and post whatever you feel. I do agree there are trolls and just angry people. But thats everywhere. Anywhere. People complain at bungie, at the game with more than enough reasons. If you find unreasonable to post about how this game sucks and question others for so. Then how about, on this same post you share with everyone all the reasons you think this game is good or why do you enjoy it. Please do. Itll be more fruitfull that judging others for the sake of your own selfvalidation. Again instead of being a forum judge go ahead, post why do you play this shlt game. Prove everyone wrong.

Analogy : Sports. It's hard to witness your favorite team loose it all, but you still hope for the best with all your heart. People and fans still have a right to analyze, criticize and talk about it. Doing what you just did with your post is more asymptomatic of "this generation" than what you thought you just described. Snowflakes gonna have opinions...

                  • Because we're angry about how far the game has fallen and we're still barely holding onto the hope that this can be the beautiful 10 year Journey we all were promised back in 2014. We want the game to be able to do better but Bungie keeps spitting in the faces of the fans over and over again. It's frustrating to say the least. I haven't played since November of last year but I still keep up to date with all of the news and updates, read the TWAB, and browse the forums because I keep hoping that the this game with limitless potential will stop trying to force itself into being "just another FPS" like CoD and Battlefield. The closest resemblance I can draw is how this game was originally not too unlike Borderlands. You travel around scenic locations, shoot baddies, get loot. In D2 however it's just wander around, notice how empty it all is, get the same item for the 2,345th time, dismantle it as soon as I see the name, sit my character down, look at the scenery, log off.

You want a safe space OP and you’re delusional enough to think negativity about a game that has proven time and time again to admit it’s own faults means the player base is toxic and not the game itself. We live in the age of sjw pc safe spaces and it’s hurting the product and it’s hurting the community. The mods here are complicit in trying to provide this experience but they don’t see the disloyalty to themselves and community when redirecting fault and banning members for standard no longer controversial outside the bubble statements. So no OP, grow a thicker skin and stay in your own lane. The more people upvoting your post only proves that the real toxic people are the majority posters wanting to rid the so called ‘majority toxic’ minority opinion in favour of creating a echo chamber. That’s real toxicity at its core as you want complete silencing of opinions. It’s oppressive and I look forward to another banned post by me and warning on my account through yours and other reports for stating this truth and the ninjas taking your side on this as they have time and time again since the new D2 policy of -blam!- the critics came about.

                  • I think you would be more concerned if people didn't call them out on their shit. Eververse would have you for 3000 a year. You would be frustrated with 3 month complete resets. Grinding materials would take you longer than the resets to upgrade weapons, Xur would still be a lier, your guns would all still feel the same, you'd be content with bugs that never got fixed, you would spend 10 hours in orbit, you would be monkey giraffing all the way to the zoo, etc you get the point.

Because people can't help but watch a train wreck. It's not that Destiny 2 is bad per se, it's that it's not living up to its potential. And unlike a normal fail, Bungie likes to commit the "hold my beer and watch this" kind of fails. There's a morbid fascination in following the state of affairs, the misteps and bungling, the half-hearted, too-late updates, the dwindling player base. We're all watching a case study in what not to do to an AAA title the likes of which haven't been scene since Diablo 3 shat the bed in 2013/2014. Further, like a high-drama movie, we all want to see how it ends - this is a cliff hanger. We KNOW Activision and Bungie have a contract, and expect D3 to be released in 2019. Now that Bungie has cash-grabbed too early, how is it going to fix this mess and convince any of us to drop another $60-$100 in one short year's time? Will it fix this mess? Will it die gloriously in the attempt at reclaiming greatness, or will it phone in D3 as well, like a band stuck in a 5-record contract with a label it hates? That's why we're ALL here, haters and lovers alike.

                    • Oh and by the way, the only reason D2 is improving is because all the bltching. All this toxic culture you so call. This bandwagon is making YOUR game experience better. Its sad its the only way , i know but so far all this bad pr, all this hate that could affect sales is the only reasons why bungies is pouring resources into D2 instead of just focusing on D3 You know it.
