Since the beginning of this year, we’ve been setting more specific expectations for the work we’re doing to support Destiny 2. With some Season 2 updates in our rear view mirror, it’s time to look further into the future. Before we take a look at our development priorities, Game Director Christopher Barrett has some commentary on our goals for this summer, and beyond.
Barrett: The team is very excited to extend the roadmap and share with you some of the big stakes we’re putting in the ground. Recent updates have focused on immediate issues to the live game, but in the coming months our vision for the future is converging with critical player feedback to deliver transformative changes to Destiny 2.
We’ll be diving deeper into each one of the listed items soon, and there’s even more we can’t quite talk about yet, but for now it’s all hands on deck to make sure we deliver on our promise to restore Destiny 2 to the hobby we all love.
Here’s the new roadmap, spanning the entire summer.
The community has been talking a lot about some of the things we’re developing for Season Four. Our goals for these features are to give you more control over how you configure your loadouts in Destiny 2 and give you more reasons to play the game over time. We also want to bring back those exciting moments when you acquire the perfect weapon. To make this happen, updates like Weapon Randomization, Weapon Slot Changes, Gear Collections, and Records will be delivered to all players.
We now have a plan for Raid Prestige changes (including Raid Lairs) and will update where it will land in the next Development Roadmap. Mod Changes are being incorporated into our new plan for Weapon Randomization.
On May 8, with the beginning of Season Three, we’re also launching the second expansion to Destiny 2. It’s called Warmind, and it will send you to new places to meet new heroes and battle new enemies. You’ll earn new loot and master new activities. Today, we’re naming it and dating it. You’ll learn more in a reveal stream on April 24. Mark your calendars and follow us on Twitch.
Season Three marks the beginning of a new plan for how we deliver Crucible content. For every player of Destiny 2, we’ll be releasing all of the new Crucible Maps being developed for Warmind into matchmaking. The same goes for the maps we released with Curse of Osiris. To keep the community in the Crucible unified, everyone will see new arenas in matchmade playlists like Quickplay, Competitive, Trials of the Nine, Iron Banner, as well as the new weekly rotators that include Rumble and Mayhem. That means more opponents for everyone. With the arrival of Private Matches, players will need to purchase each Expansion to have exclusive access to play those Crucible maps with other players in a private match. This plan goes into effect on May 8 with the beginning of Season Three.

The usual conversation about our creative process will continue. Expect to learn more about the new features on the roadmap as we delve deeper into developer commentary. If these plans change – and plans have a way of doing that – we’ll keep refreshing this roadmap on a monthly basis.
Thanks for coming along with us on this journey, thanks for your feedback, and thanks for playing.

4 RepliesEdited by TheShadow-cali: 4/16/2018 11:57:15 PMDMG? Even though you have replaced Cozmo on getting a lot of the salt. Know this, most of it is because of the higher ups. I know I poke fun at Bungie and some don't like it but at least I have common sense to know you have nothing to do with this. You're just doing your job and I do recognize you are making an effort. It's all you can do. I may not like at times what scrips are made for you to post because of the phrases this company has used so many times that it's hard for some to believe, but I do appreciate your effort that I've seen you put so far on this forum. I know, I know. me of all people right? IMO people need to understand that what appears to be hate isn't always what it appears to be. It's frustration that some don't know how to express at times in a matter that some would like to see. (This is Only my opinion.) I don't believe for one minute that gamers asked for what has been offered since D2 released. What's making it hard for some gamers is the fact that Bungie uses phrase like "we're listening" so much that it has become a joke on this forum for gamers to laugh at knowing their actions show otherwise. You said on a update you created that (you know Bungies trust need to be earned) Let me ask you something. How can that actually take place when Bungie keeps making the same mistakes or whatever anyone wants to call it, and have been since D1 released in 2014? Trust isn't something that is given so easily especially after what has taken place since D2 released. I don't don't need to list what has actually taken place because this forum, Reddit, top streamers that have given up on this game and the world wide net that Bungie can't hide from. As I said in another thread on your post.... Action speaks louder then words. Until gamers see that action it's going to be really hard for a lot of gamers to believe what has been said will take place as it's said. Especially when things like random rolls doesn't necessary mean as it's put out to be knowing how Bungie likes changing things at the last minute or doesn't actually give a clear picture on what certain things actually mean. Making promises at this point as I said before is not a good thing. One has to learn how to keep a promise before actually making one. Main reason for that, it's setting up oneself when it comes to disappointment's being throw right back at oneself. Bungie has said sorry so many times for their deliberate poor actions that it has become them saying..."I'm sorry, but can you please let me do it again"? IMO this needs to stop and this company needs to form an actual form of communication. Other companies do it by using things like... Small surveys Creating videos going into actual detail about info gamers have been asking for. This, well, um, "we have a plan" "We have some info that will talk more about latter" "We been looking into new things and or team has some new ideas that we can't share now but they got a good grip on it" Umm, what new things? What new ideas? Got a grip on what again that they keep saying they can't share right now? This kind of info doesn't work and to say tune into next week for more info for more of the same response that they been doing since 2014 needs to change. That is not any form of communication. That is only saying we have Nothing to share, and Nothing more. This doesn't work at all and as long as things keep heading this was. Things will never change. I don't think gamers want this to stay the way it is. They want Bungie to actually listen to what is actually being ask for and IMO they should give a little leeway when it comes to this. Show the player base that they know how to actually communicate with them. That is what is being asked for more then anything else right now.

Yo, 6v6 is amazing and should totally be made permanent

So are mods 2.0 just not a thing anymore. Or did you think we wouldn’t catch that?

2 RepliesEdited by Guardian, Archon Of Light: 4/18/2018 5:12:57 AM
battle new enemies.
Please clarify what that means. Does that mean variants on vanilla enemies like Taken Hive,Fallen,Cabal and Vex or Splicer Fallen. Or , and this is a big or, does that mean what it should, does "New" actually mean a new race, like Siva Frames or Corrupt Exos. Just a warning, if new turns out to be a different color Vex,Cabal,Hive or Fallen. Enemies we have been killing ad nauseum for 4 years , then you will face a huge backlash. But in the same token, if there is a legit new enemy race , then that will be huge and will make this an exciting DLC.

When will prestige argos and a new raid be released? I don't see it anywhere on any roadmap now. Has this been pushed?

4 RepliesEdited by JaffinOff: 4/18/2018 2:38:55 PMWhat I am curious about is how we're basically going to get stuck paying for the weapon slot changes and random rolls. I'm sure they will be included in a some "free update," but that doesn't mean anything when there will be a Taken King sized DLC around the same time. I'm perfectly fine paying for new content especially if it improves the game. My issue is that weapon slot changes and random rolls are without a doubt the most asked for change by the community and by the time we finally get them we'll be force to play old content or fork out the money for the new DLC. So many people cry about how this stuff should have been in the game from the beginning meanwhile Bungie will basically be twisting our arms into spending money for those changes to have any real effect on our gameplay experience. There's zero chance Bungie will give anything for free but I just don't know how they can justify me "throwing money at my screen" after everything that has happened since D2's release. Edit: Before people freak out I have 2500+ hours on D1 and played everyday after D2 release until the CoO. I wanted Destiny to be good. I also don't want to shell out more money to a company that employed so my money grabbing techniques they got called out by their own community.

3 RepliesEdited by g_dawg-123456789: 4/14/2018 5:45:21 PMWeapon randomization. You keep using that word. I don’t think it means what you think it means.
For real though, you (Bungie) have proven time after time that the way you define issues differs greatly from the way the community defines them. We are going to need some clarification.
Edited by XxOrrmighty: 4/18/2018 2:42:10 AMYeah sorry to say, but this is all stuff that should have been in the game at launch. Don't say thanks for the feedback, because you had this feedback prior to Destiny 2 being released and did nothing good with it. To give us it now, just feels meh. And to be honest what your offering in your roadmap is meh. It's kinda like when you order a rare steak at they bring it out well done, so your immediately eye rolling thinking "how hard is it to cook what i asked for, this is your job". So you send it back and wait for a new meal, but in the meantime you have no faith in the chef and have lost interest in the meal and kicking yourself that you didn't go somewhere else. No Thanks. Just make Destiny 3 brand new (no recycled enemies, skill trees, classes, raid layers) and for gods sake....get rid of SHADERS and COSMETICS i don't care what my character looks like this is meant to be a loot and shoot, not a fashion show.

Why is it going to take so long?

1 ReplyCan we please worry about PvE more than crucible? Thanks
-
Look I hope you all at Bungie know what your doing. I see the huge focus on competitive pvp in destiny 2 more so than destiny one and maybe even the esports side of things.. but you gotta make sure you execute it right, pvp is as balanced as it’s ever been and the 4v4 focus is competitive and team focused. Ranked crucible and private matches could be a game changer. I would love to see the ones who have such a high rank in crucible when it becomes ranked to have an emblem or something to show for it to give them a reason to actually want, like how overwatch has the different symbols on their profiles for their rank. Good luck Bungie.

2 RepliesI love how most not all of the Destiny streamers came back largely to stream D2 since they are getting a paid vacation to go to the streamer summit this week. I don’t include them all in this statement because I actually have seen some invited who still haven’t been back on D2.
-
Prestige Eow was supposed to be in May and so was new Raid Lair. Stop pushing stuff back it's really get hard to find ppl to play this game with (dictated players).
-
3 RepliesWhy is a dlc's main selling point quality of life changes. Are you selling us fixes to your broken game?
-
Your game sucks. I’ve played this game since the D1 Alpha, and have seen everything you “promised” but took you until the final D1 update to BALANCE everything out. You guys couldn’t move over everything from that final D1 update, and is STILL the reason this game SUCKS! I got a free copy of this game with season pass. Lucky me! Because if I had purchased this, I would have driven across the country to your headquarters, took my disc, and shoved it up Deej’s ass personally. Here’s my list for what has RUINED D2 from D1. -Weapon rolls are static now. -No customizable abilities on subclasses. -Lack of content (when comparing Vanilla D1 to Vanilla D2) -EDZ/Nessus was over-hyped, since they are the biggest locations in the game, whilst Titan/Io/Mercury are non-existent -Weapon balance is back to Hand Cannon/High RoF Pulse Rifles (i.e. Vigilance Wing) -4v4 Crucible games -Quickplay/Competitive Playlists (no option to select individual games OR PRIVATE MATCHES) (“Coming early 2018”) (MY @$$) -Team shooting in Crucible (worse for 6v6 Iron Banner) -Grenade Launchers over Machine Guns -Placing Snipers/Fusions/Shotguns with ACTUAL power weapons -Armor/Resilience/Mobility mods are more important than Cooldown mods for Grenade/Melee/Ability/Super Energy -No set camo layouts, just consumable shaders (should have only been for weapons) -Variety in raids (current RAID is a joke) -Eververse Can’t think of anything else, but if you know of more, add to this thread. As for you Bungie, the game needs to go back to final D1 update standards to give what the fans want. Bring back all the content from D1, FOR FREE, for anyone who purchased D1 previously. Bring back old raids, strikes, crucible maps, locations, etc. Balance everything back to the way it was. That’s how you’ll get the community back. I’ve posted HUNDREDS of threads over the course of Destiny’s timeline, but not once have I ever been acknowledged. Why? Because you prefer to hear from the idiots community “leaders” who want what’s best for themselves, and ruin for everyone who has a legitimate issue with the game itself. I can no longer keep supporting a company that I’ve enjoyed since the Halo days. At least back then I, as well as many others, were acknowledged for what we had an issue with and was resolved shortly after. Response?

So maybe 5 more months of beta?
-
So, uh, did anyone else notice the shadow nerf to quickfang efficiency? Cuz I did bungie. You shady corrupt jack offs.
-
Maybe you guys are getting too old to tell what makes a game fun?

2 RepliesLol even Sea of Thieves has a better roadmap 😂😂😂
-
2 RepliesYou’re only fooling yourself if you expect players to pay 160euros to eventually and finally be able to play a dumbed down and downgraded version of destiny 1. You are liars and thieves. I’m sure there’s a good couple of million sheep that will fall for your tricks/baits in September, I mean destiny is the only game they can play and feel like they aren’t that trash, but don’t expect the non beggars and non scrubs to bend over for you. We trusted you with D2, and you only -blam!- us in return. Now taste the downside, and put your next paywall up your butt!
-
Don't increase nf drop rate.
-
Did you guys dumb this game down so bad so 6 year olds could play and bug mom and dad about silver to boost profits? Lol it sure seems like it to me.
-
September. September. September. Sorry its just not enough. You guys are the ones that mutilated stuff from D1 that should have been since launch and made all your azz shlt decisions. Practially you guys need a year to make a game viable? Event remotely like D1? Because of your own mistakes. And ofcourse you already charged us for it. what a joke
