You ever play a really good game but the art style just really puts you off?
Sometimes the art style even plays a major part in whether I purchase a game or not. My example would be the Borderlands series. I just cannot stand how it looks. To the point where I really don't care to play it anymore.. it bothers me that much.
What are some good games that you've played where the art style just throws you off?

1 ReplyHalo 4 the 343 art style is just not halo but the game is good aside from the multiplayer that is

Bump.

Tell tale bat man

1 ReplyMass Effect Andromeda

1 ReplyFortnight l, borderlands series, etc. I don’t like cartoony games
-
Dishonored. The difference in tone and character models is really offputting.

2 RepliesWindwaker.

halo 4/5. it’s too different from the previous games to be likable for me.
-
1 ReplyHonestly I don't like the borderlands art style either. It just feels... weird...
-
9 Replies......Borderlands.....seriously
-
11 RepliesNone, there isn't a single art style that annoys me, and I've never understood why it annoys other people.

Borderlands art style is terrible for me.Cant play.Warframe is another example.Locations are ok but enemies design is atrocious. Final Fantasy XV too, have this ugly for me design type I can not stand.

1 ReplyAny game that tries to have a gritty look. They games usually play very well, but I just get so bored with gloomy atmospheres.

Borderlands

My best example would also be Borderlands. Any comic book style anything bothers me.

1 ReplyCall me crazy, but I hate the art style of Borderlands.

See, I’m fine with most art styles, but to me it has to fit how the game takes itself. I couldn’t play Borderlands if it had a realistic, gritty art style with its light hearted (and at times kinda depressing) humour. In the same respect I don’t want to play COD with the art style of borderlands

Personally I'm not a fan of cuphead's art style, I can understand why people would like it but it's not for me

2 RepliesOn some "what has been seen cannot be unseen" type shit... That Need for Speed reboot. I somewhat agree with perpetual darkness. Street racing or whatever. Moody... "gritty" feel to it. But that grain filter they used is sooooo whack. And the color palette that was used in Diablo 3. To me, it's a little too bright. If it wasn't for gore effects I probably would have skipped Diablo 3.

1 ReplyI normally don’t care about how good the graphics are as long as the game is actually fun but I cannot play Fortnite
-
The newer final fantasy games

1 ReplyThose borderland comments 😒 shame on you people, cel shading is probably done best by gearbox. Mine would be halo reach. Them armor designs are fugly compared to H2-H3. Don't mind the gritty setting that reach has but it can get blurry all over that game.

No specific art style annoys me, but when it juxtaposes the tone of the game that would. Not sure if I’ve ever played a game where that’s the case however.

Edited by Swiftlock: 3/16/2018 6:08:30 PMCoincidentally, Destiny 2. ( Though I wouldn't be quick to call it a "good game" either. It's playable, but it has a TON of problems. ) The visual designs for our gear just doesn't feel as original and inspired as D1. There isn't really much aggressive or unique styling to a lot of our equipment. Even the raid gear doesn't look the part. The colors of the shaders also appear dulled and subdued compared to how vivid they were in D1.
