How many are rooting for random rolls? Investment = Power?

I feel like we need this and i hope that this is what they are working on for the next mod system. I didn't even play D1, however i have played other games where investment = power. In my opinion this is the way it should be if i play for 12h/day it would feel kinda shitty to still have the same rewards/power as someone who logs in and plays for 1h. This is not feedback this is a question for the community. I would just like to know how many want investment = power/better rewards.

  • RNG rolls has nothing to do with investment. You could get a god roll on your first one, or never. These two things are not the same.

    • I want the game to be fun. Being able to play PvP or PvE and knowing that the gear could drop with a great roll was fun. It motivates you to keep grinding. You know what's NOT fun? It's when legendary engrams quickly stop being useful and you find the same pulse rifle 9 times with no variance. That's boring.

    • I would rather have more content than random rolls - and if people are going to beg bungie for random rolls then they might as well bring back reforging thru the gunsmith too - I have zero desire to farm any activity to get the latest meta weapon- especially when I have tons of material to burn

Investment = Power?[/quote] I think weapons/gear should drop as they do now with set rolls, but have the added option to re-roll them at the gunsmith for a price. I mean, a lot of people hate a lot of the strikes in D2, so could you imagine grinding for a God-Rolled weapon that could only drop in say the Exodus Black strike? That would be 10x worse than grinding for a perfect Grasp of Malok in D1.....

      • Mods could be that same “Investment = Power” you’re talking about. I’m sitting on 170 Gunsmith Telemetry. Took some effort and a lot of time to acquire those. Why couldn’t I use those to alter my weapons? Lets say the identity of a weapon is its skin, stats, and Trait Perk. So Better Devils is Explosive Payload, the model and it’s stats. Can’t alter those three things. It’s what makes a Better Devils a Better Devils. But everything else could be changed. Just imagine... You want a different sight? Hover over the Sight you want to change and the mod menu drops down (like the Leviathan Raid Mods) and the different sight options you can choose from are available to Mod for the cost of 5 telemetry, 5 Weapon Parts, and 25 Legendary shards. Or maybe you want a different Magazine Option. Hover over Flared Magwell and change it to Drop Mag. Why the hell do people want acquiring those perks to be random? It was the worst part about finally getting an LDR from your 20th Vanguard Package to only have a roll with Guerrilla Fighter and Exhumed. It’s still the worst part about rerolling Masterwork perks... I am rooting for a way to take my time and invest, define, and customize a weapon’s role while keeping the creative identity of Static rolls (like my favorites “Perseverance” and “Seven Six Five”). Their flavor text and traits make sense and are not an accident. They’re meant to be that way. But it’d be awesome to be able to give them a personal touch so people can work for and say “This is MY Better Devils or MY Origin Story.”

      • The problem with your post is that RNG/random rolls does not directly correlate with investment. The big example from D1 was always Gjallarhorn. Often considered the unicorn of that game's loot pool, people made sure to complete all activities with a chance of dropping exotics in the hopes of getting it. But you could get it to drop on your first try. Or never. I myself had it drop seven times during Y1 whereas one of my raid teammates never got it until Xur sold it the week before TTK, yet he put in far more hours than I did. I get the argument for investment = power, but RNG is not investment. Its luck, plain and simple.

        • Seeing as it took a couple weeks in d1 to get a roll I wanted and it's been 6 months and still no guns that fit my play style in d2 Imma go with random rolls.

          • I don't equate random rolls with time invested, in any way. But compared to where the game is right now? Yes, random rolls would be a ginormous upgrade over the utter lack of perks as mods currently. I see where mods could go, but at the glacially slow pace Bungie moves, we're a decade away from significant perks as mods. Not just the "small pool of stats" mods that exist now.

          • I'd love to have random rolls back, but I don't feel like the game absolutely needs them. I'd like to see them again because they gave us a great way to play Destiny 1 for hours upon hours with tangible rewards coming every so often. If Destiny 2 could give us the same experience with something completely different then I would be all for that instead. Just give me a good reason to play your game, Bungie!

          • I don’t think Bungie will do random rolls. More than likely they will try an added mod system before they admit failure and bring back random rolls. I’d be happy to see random rolls return, but I don’t expect it.

            • Yeah investment = power for sure but it doesn't need to be done with random rolls, look at wow no random rolls, there's many ways around the issue.

            • I don't want random rolls. Random rolls are bullshit. What I want is for every weapon to lose their perks and all the perks to become mods. Mods to be disabled in crucible so the weapons just have base stats and in PvE they can be whatever the player builds them to be. Player gets control over their gun builds and varying rarity in the mods keeps the grind alive.
