Unfortunarly you need lvl 5 Earplugs to be completly immune against his roar,maybe lvl 4 might help a bit as well. You could farm Bazelgeuse if you are up to that, his armor has max Earplugs. If you have a good lance or gunlance and plenty of stamina you might be able to block it if you are fast enough, might also work with a Chargeblade's charged shield. But even I have been 1HK by him after blocking his move and was left with no stamina and half health and 2 seconda later ....you fainted. He is an asshole, just run with it, many people die at least once to him, dont worry to much about that. Also a small tip, make and use farcasters, you have 50 minutes to kill him, if you are low on health or sharpness, or just in a bind, use a farcaster. This will give you time to heal and sharpen, actualy just go into the tent to get a new farcaster and you'll do that automaticly.
