Destiny 1 ended and a sequel was released.
The only thing that "happened" was that players took their expectations from one game and superimposed them on a different game.
Here's how games work in the modern era: A game is released, usually 3 months early with a ton of bugs. Update 1 is nothing more than bug fixes. Update 2 adds features, sometimes additional content. Update 3 adds more content. Update 4 adds features, bug fixes, and sometimes additional content. Et cetera ad infinitum.
Every time a sequel is released, people are upset that the sequel doesn't live up to the hype created by the finished version of the prequel, forgetting the process the prequel took to reach its finished state. By the time the sequel reaches its end, everyone loves it even more than the original game and expects the next sequel to be superior in every way, then get disappointed that it's lacking features the first sequel had by the end of its finished version.
I've been gaming since the late '80s, back when we bought games on cartridges and you got what you got - no updates, no expansions, no complaining about content. Buy a game, play a game, like it or don't, move on.
IMO, if you bought D2 and you didn't like it, buy something else and play that instead. It's really that simple. Bungie owe you nothing aside from the game you purchased, and if you bought something you don't enjoy, that's on you, not them.
You know like when your team is ahead two nil and you’ve got twenty minutes to go,the manager starts by taking off your striker and best attacking midfielder,
He replaces them with two defenders.
The opposition scores to make it two one 15 minutes left they score again it’s two all
You haven’t got the players so all you do is try to hang in there hoping they don’t get a winner.
Well the manager has been tinkering with a winning team now all there good for is a draw.
And the crowd leaves feeling despondent and empty.
💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵💵 x Eververse +Luke Smith - 4yo nieces x making content is hard - Bungie.net purge divided by Activision x T
T= throw money at the screen.
That’s what happened.
Oh the good old days when they made 2 actual raids completely irrelevant and took all your gear, all that gear you earned, they made it useless overnight. Ah, it was sooooooo good. Then they made the 3rd raid completely irrelevant. Soooooooo good.
Before 2 to 3 years ago I had 3 friends. One I never see at all anymore, one that I see sometimes every couple months, and 1 I go to school with. Two to three years ago, my freshman year of high school, I got my Xbox one for Christmas. Before that I had only Nintendo systems. I went to gamestop the next day and I saw something that caught my eye. A game that I haven’t heard of in a very long time at that point, Destiny: The Taken King edition (or complete edition at the time). I remember before the game originally came out for Xbox 360 and PS3, my dad who hates games as a whole calls me to his bedroom and shows me the trailer that looked like the greatest game of the time! And I was begging my mom after that to buy me a Xbox 360 to play it with my cousins who have the 360 and were going to buy destiny. My parents were going through a money problem at the time because of my new born sisters and didn’t have the money for a new system and game, my dad got me a magazine from back before Destiny 1 even came out and had stuff like the original ghost and old modes, maps, and even weapons that never made it to the game like the red version of the Duke common weapon! I never could buy it and when I went to my cousins house I played as a warlock (I was a Harry Potter fan at the time and still am). I loved it I had the best time those times but then they stopped playing it and got a Xbox one. So I wouldn’t get to play it anymore till I got my Xbox one. My parents worked overtime to afford a Xbox one for me that Christmas but it was worth it because, I met one of my best friends all thanks to Destiny and my new Xbox one! I bought destiny the taken king edition and played with my friend (I’ll call him B for private information purposes) and his dad for till the end of D1 and through d2. When Destiny 2 pre order bonus at gamestop for the cayde figure was out my mom got home from work and I was afraid I wouldn’t get it or get to pre order the Limited edition of D2, so my grandpa took me even though I had to tell him how to get there but, I got the figure and was able to pre order d2 the limited edition. When it came out I went to warlock again and had a fun time! The story was great, PvP at the time was fun but the same weapons were used and the same supers. BUT, it was still fun because there was stuff to do and memories to make. The after game was ok at first I was a little annoyed that I still don’t have 1 exotic emote (and if they come out with the dab again like from d1 as a exotic emote and I don’t get it I will be very upset) or that I have to wait almost an hour for a nightfall matchmaking and that shaders from events are not requirable like d1, it is still a fun game I have hopes for this game because of all of the memories with my family and friends because of this franchise and I understand that loot box engrams are annoying and yes the dlc 1 didn’t have a lot of content but think of this i pay the same amount for this dlc as one of Final Fantasy XV’s dlc story dlc if you wanted to know what happens from a moment in that game you needed to buy the short dlc that I completed in a day around the same time as Curse of Osiris’s dlc! That is just 1 example! And NO I AM NOT saying that bungee or Activision or anyone is not guilty of trying to get more money, but creating games is a job these people have to pay for their families, friends, house or apartment, food, water, taxes, and the list goes on. The ones who are greedy are not just the companies it is the players or gamers themselves. Creating video games is a long and hard process. It takes time, hard work, dedication, and the support of it’s fans. D1 took YEARS A LONG TIME LONGER THEN D2 EVER TOOK! You can’t expect to get what is the full version of destiny 1 with the base game 2 small dlcs, one expansion, and one ending expansion in a matter of only a couple of years! It is ridiculous that we expect them to make that amount of content in only the base game! I will stop playing destiny 1 and 2 or talking to the community till they shut up and think about the people there right now probably taking in extra hours to make all of you as happy as possible so they can have food on their tables and a roof over their heads and you all are still ungrateful! I am a junior in high school and I want to be a game designer or developer and I am going to college for it. I want to be part of of a game that brings people together and happy. But, if all I’m doing is trying to please you Greedy gamers then I’ll find another job I want to do! I understand YES loot boxes are in the game yes there are stuff in it but, NO it is NOT a endgame system, NO it is not taking over the game and FIRST of all OVERWATCH’S SYSTEM IS LEVELS AND LOOT BOXES WITH COSMETIC ONLY STUFF JUST LIKE D2’S BRIGHT ENGRAMS AND FOR OVERWATCH LEAGUE SKINS YOU HAVE TO USE REAL MONEY AFTER YOUR FREE 2 SKINS! There are more important things in the world that need solving and are a huge issue homeless people living on the streets with no home like in Chicago , drugs killing millions every day, people killing themselves , crime, terrorist, pollution, disease, gender equality, racism, war, and animal abuse, the poor, and there are millions more! This is not the end of the world if destiny 2 isn’t the perfect game! Nothing in the world is perfect no person, thing, or place. And coming from a person with mental problems and who has a different mindset and brain from anyone else, there is no perfection there is just the way it is we can’t change the past or predict the future but we can enjoy today for what it is and make the world a better place! So if you still think that Destiny 2 is the worst thing of last year go look up on the device you are using right now how many people died in the last year of all of the things I listed! We are a dumb generation and we all know it yes our stuff is evolving but we humans are getting dumber if we can’t enjoy the things in life we have and can do then there is no future for humans so while our technology is getting smarter humans are becoming dumber! I love gaming and it makes me happy but if people are unhappy for stupid reasons like this then what even makes us happy at all! I’ve spent my whole life so far never even knowing my birth father because I never met him and he left before I was born and I was technically a mistake never supposed to happen! I am born with aspurgers and I have a hard time thinking and communicating with others and I have a hard time understanding others emotions or opinions! And I have a hard time telling sarcasm and I take things to literally so when you all say the huge problems are things there are loot boxes then I think you are the ones mentally -blam!- not me! I will play the new event on Valentine’s Day coming up with my friend because we both don’t have a girlfriend because in my school people see me as a kid with a mental problem and my friend and I as gamers don’t fit in my school are weird for playing games! I will be playing destiny 2 but, I don’t believe that the gaming community is this bad! I wish BUNGIE good luck with Destiny 2 and the future!
Bad developers and mtx greed.
Mostly just bad developers. They think they know what we want. We say "this is OP" so they blanket nerf an entire weapon type. We say "must have Ghorn spam in LFG is stupid" so they nerf every single heavy weapon.
Look at the game we have today. Did anybody ask LMG's to be completely removed from the game? Did anybody ask for snipers to be a power weapon with barely any ammo or damage? Did anybody ask for only 4v4 in every crucible mode, with no playlist selection? Did anybody ask for mission selection or heroic modifiers in strikes to be removed?
This is all the result of stupid devs making stupid decisions that benefit nobody.
Wanna hear something funny... so I deleted D2 last night after not playing for like a month... then I guess there was an update as soon as I turned on my PS4, and was like WTF?! So I canceled the update and deleted that and deleted D2 again... 😂😂😂 nice try Bungie, I like my extra free space!
D1 was already a compromised concept. The people that did make it good long left the company before launch. Those roles were eventually filled by bad actors with egos who sought their own glory by making changes to their whims instead of building off the foundation people loved but felt was lacking.
Destiny 2 was the result of that.
Pvp balancing, it's why the weapons are now sorted in primary, energy, and power as opposed to the D1 system that nobody asked to be changed
This system they have now could have been enforced in D1's PvP by eliminating heavy and applying it's ammo system to special weapons.
Sidearms would have been fine left alone and Icebreaker would have been the only true problem but I believe that problem could have been fixed by Bungie making a post on the forums simply asking how to fix this, a solution could have been found so easily.
OR
They could attempt to separate PvE and PvP so balancing would only be needed on one gamemode
