Iron Banner in D1 was a really huge part of why I played, why I grinded for hours upon hours, practically every day after work, and I attribute it largely to the fact that Light level mattered so much, as a reason for me to raise my light to max, so I could put it to good use in Iron Banner.
The decision to make Iron Banner now have it so that 'power' level is meaningless, makes Iron Banner meaningless for me, and therefore D2 meaningless to me. Bungie must absolutely bring back power/light-level relevance to Iron Banner..
-
Good luck with that. People bitched about locked out of live events because they were to lazy to buy dlc so now power/light level will always be meaningless now Thank you anti Bungie dumbasses 🙄
-
I am pro no power level in trials if it trying to scratch that competitive itch. Iron Banner without power level is meaningless. the only difference is I can finally just play control like I want. Other than that... its regular PvP. There is no functional reason for it to exist in its current state.

1 ReplySo I said this on the last topic that came up regarding this, so I'll ask you. When did you ever come across any guardian so low light that you actually noticed a difference? For me that would be 0. Also they want every player to be able to play iron banner, even those that didn't buy dlc and are stuck at 305. That's why we had 3 patches to sort out iron banner and faction rally.
-
2 RepliesAs much as I hated that. You are right. Trials and iron banner were the reason you raised your power level. What’s the point when your light level doesn’t mean anything?
-
1 ReplyI agree. There should be at least one crucible event that makes light level matter.
-
It should. I agree.
-
So it gave you a reason to play?
-
My only thought is since light level is irrelevant why do they even bother stating "level advantages disabled" on activities?
-
The reason they don’t do this is because then they would be locking people out of IB who don’t have CoO.
-
I would like this to happen it served a purpose to get your light up there in activities like this and in trials. I remember 2 taping guardians with the First Curse against people with lower light, oh my, did I feel great! 98 criticals is the exact damage and only one time did I see a 105. It's super fun when you run into those lobbies, to bad it's gone, was a fun surprise when it happened.

In a ‘balanced game’ there is nothing of relevance. Nothing is above the others, or, it is Not Balanced. Destiny 2 is focused on balance, and, as a result, there is literally Nothing to Grind For, except, grinding... That is the reason it is a failure. It is 2 dimensional. Play, don’t play, same rewards... Bungie May ‘fix’ this, but, I doubt there will be enough interest to affect Destiny 2, or future Destiny ()...
-
So, basically, you're saying time-played > skill? No thanks!
-
So people shouldn't compete based on skill level alone but rather on how many hours they have ground for levels? New players shouldn't get to enjoy IB until they max as well. So basically you like grind so you would like more grind in everyone's grind.
-
1 ReplyWhy? Even when power level made a difference the impact it had was very miniscule. The calculations they used did not impart a big enough power difference in the light level gaps. You still had low level players decimating high light level ones. IF they bring back power level difference they need to make it have more impact than it previously did.

It is sad that I'm using Iron Banner to level my alt.
-
Agreed!

Edited by highlander1590: 2/1/2018 2:12:30 PMI could not agree more! All the grinding that I did in D1 was aimed at getting ready for The Iron Banner. When it came I wanted to have my characters at their best. And I will say that in my opinion the IB was the best PVP event in Destiny. It was just fun. Now it just the same as the lame teamshot PVP that we are currently stuck with in D2. The rewards in D1 Iron Banner would make me play it for hours on end. The weapons were always outstanding too. These were things that you would use all the time long after the event was over. Who can forget the Fellwinter's Lie! Now I play just for the cosmetic stuff but the process is like going to the Dentist! Bottom line here is that The Iron Banner was for players that earned their gear and higher light levels and was a chance to take advantage of that. If you did not have the better gear . . . nobody was making you enter! Oh and if you don't have the DLC than so what, get the DLC and play. This was they way it was in D1.
-
13 RepliesIt's impossible because they want people without the dlc to be able to play it. Same with faction rally. Otherwise you'd just be pub stomping 305 people when you are 335.
-
1 ReplyPower level i meaningless in the whole game. Doing the raid with people at 305 and with people at 335 ... there is no difference ... It's just a number. Nothing changes with power level. Guns don't do more damage, armor don't have more stats ... it's just a number so that they can lock content for people who don't buy the DLCs ... but that didn't work, so now everything is a huge mess. Lets take power level, they have a whole event based on power level but how can you do it when everyone is the same level by default since it does nothing. You do the same thing on 305 as on 335 - mobs take the same amount of bullets to die, people in crussible take the same amount to die ... what relevance? D2 is now trying to compete with the big boys and the scummy practices from D1 do not work anymore and Bingo does not know what to do and how to do it ... also Bingo is not a company that will give in order to receive - they are the type of company that will scam you by selling you something and then take it away if you don't pay again for it. Bingo is just a scummy company getting away with it for too long and now everyone called their shit and they have no idea what to do ... Look at the roadmap - it's the bare minium they can do for free. See there is no new content and anything, just tweaks and things that have been planed before just coming out as "free" updates because people stopped playing ... If you can not see through that - then you deserve to be milked dry ...
-
I know it one the other hundreds of parts of destiny 2 they longevity they f up , They f up iron banner , how a company can screw somthing like that good concept up like wtf .
-
Level advantage IS iron banner. Guardians at full power against each other. Otherwise its just crucible. It should level up under leveled characters just like d1 after each game. I preferred going in at the minimum level, it was fun to beat a max level opponent. I remember thinking the level advantage should be more noticeable. (Also played on xbox one same gt)
-
What's the point of having Level advantage? You can easily get max light or close in a week or two. The only people who will suffer are the people who don't own the latest dlc.
-
Edited by MC 077 Lasombra: 2/1/2018 12:16:38 PMYeah it’s be nice. I didn’t even bother playing IB cause why bother. Gear wise my Titan can’t get any better.
-
Having the game drop powerful engrams would help too, it would entice more people back to the game. Right now so many are at the edge of leveling up that those are the only way to do it so they only show up once a week.
