Is bungie intentionally trying to kill their game?

Like what do they earn from throttling faction rally rewards? Nothing. They obviously understand the community wint like it, so why? Same applies to no new weapons. Its just stupid.

  • They just want to make sure D3 is better than D2 by making D2 as worse as possible.. Just like their Nerf mentality...Instead buff the weak to make the game more fun.

  • it seems that since the ship has already sailed they now try to test what people will endure before they break.... "zero fuks given, lets screw these people over".. they are caught doing shady throttling they "fix it" because they got caught... they tell everyone sry sry we listen to the community, only to do similar stuff again, all in favor of eververse which is at this point blatantly obvious and to prolong their short and repeatitive content that was getting old after 2weeks.... garbage people at this point there is not even a glimpse of understanding left and all their excuses are down the gutter.. yeah well sometimes karma is a bitch so fingers crossed...

    • I know it makes no sense. Why would they do that if they know that the player base would hate it. It’s just stupid

      • I don’t think they are intentionally killing the game. They just have their heads so far up their asses that they can see what they had for lunch.

      • I think it would've been fine to throttle down to five minutes. But it really isn't that hard to get tokens... If you plan accordingly, you barely even think about the time lock.

      • It's probably not international. I expect the thought "what are other games companies getting away with lately? Recycling old content, releasing shit cut content as DLC and not making the game last more than a few months? Yeah we could do that" rather than sticking to their roots and trying to make a great game

      • Honestly, it was a broken token farming system, and not fun to play. You can get faction ranks REALLY fast in this game just by playing, and especially getting into a public event loop. I think it was throttled too hard and shouldn’t have included all sector chests, but I don’t blame them for implementing it.

          • According to the forums the game has been dead since launch. Remember when D1 was "dead" also. Yet you all remain here. Nothing is dead. You're all addicted. Who continues to hang around something they don't enjoy?

            • Intentionally trying to kill their own game? Of course not. That's a ridiculous notion. They are drip feeding the guns because they know if they put them all out now, people would earn all the guns in the first rally and then have no reason to play the next two.

              • Absolutely not. They don't want to go out of business. If you look at the changes they are making, they are trying to do what people have asked. Let's take FR for example: People complained at how after turning in 30 packages they still did not have complete faction armor sets. You can now buy armor pieces from each faction - no more waiting for RNG to favor you. It also provided a way to spend some legendary shards. Faction armor ornaments - people complained there was no reason to play FR and the daily tasks were not enough reason to play. Bungie created some new ornaments that can be applied to the faction armor and placed FR play requirements around each one. They are not too grindy and easy to complete in a few hours. Regarding the Lost Sector loot box cooldown - Bungie did this to stop the exploit in EDZ where you could quickly go out of the Winding Cove Lost Sector chest area and back in again to keep collecting FR tokens. Currently the cool down period is too long. Bungie has admitted it needs to remove the cool down and address the problem differently. That fix will not be available this FR. New faction weapons - while they have different skins, they are not so different from current weapons that they are game changing. All currently available faction weapons are in the loot pool and with the start of the next FR, so will be the 3 new weapons we are voting for this FR. People upset about the "exotic ghost" which increases faction rewards. Even if it adds one token per drop, that is a very small increase. It isn't worth nearly 3000 bright dust nor is it worth buying any silver. If you get it to drop from a bright engram, good for you. If not, it isn't that big a deal anyway. The tokens fall like rain from public events. I have played FR each of the last 3 nights for a few hours each. I completed the faction armor collections on both my Warlock and Titan as well as unlocking all ornaments. My hunter's faction armor collection only needs the helmet and I'm about half-way done with the ornament requirements. I should be finished tonight. That is 4 evenings of play to complete the available challenges/goals for the entire FR. FR is not too hard, not too grindy, rewards are good. I just don't see at this point what Bungie could do that would make the toxic members of the community happy. Every time they try, it causes the toxicity levels to rise. Maybe they should just stop making changes until the haters are gone.

                • TL;DR Pancakes are good I dont think they are intentionally trying to kill their own game, but they are indeed killing their own game. Just naively. Im pretty sure at this point they are just trying to see how far they can go before the backlash gets to be too great, or they lose money. Its like a delicate dance. Obviously any other small company would have been dead by now. But theres brand loyalty here and our good friend cognitive dissonance at play. People keep playing because its a Bungie game or they just dont want to admit/look into the negatives. Its easier to just filter those out and enjoy life without realizing the place is burning, because chaos is stressful. Big companies know this works. They know their limits and like to stretch them as much as possible. They started with expansions, which everyones like "cool!". Totally bought it. Then they made DLC, which did include expansions, but also armor and stuff. Then they realized its easier to make pretty skins than a whole new level/campaign. So then people would spend money on cosmetic DLC. While they could have stopped here where the balance of problematic and ethical is in a grey area, and people could choose what they wanted, what if we could give them an illusion of choice? And what if we give people the buzz of winning someothing random? Lootboxes were born. You dont HAVE to buy look boxes, but doesnt it just feel good when you get one and get what you want? Even though in the last decade we could have just chosen what we wanted instead of made it into a gambl.....ITS NOT GAMBLING THOUGH. Not. Gambling. dont listen to those communists. But while there has always been backlash even against expansions, it was quiet. Now, lootboxes are starting to awaken the masses. I think the next evolution of this stuff will hopefully be the end of this nonsense. I envision the entire game being put in lootboxes. Perhaps all cosmetics, and even missions, modifications, or even setting options. Want to get your resolution to 1920x1080? Well, better grind in 800x600 to get "in game currency" to buy Settings Crates to get that option. Want 60 fps? Settings Crates. Want to complete campaign? Well, keep playing the first mission and grind to get Story Crates to unlock the rest of the campaign. and while you grind, remember you can also get super cool cosmetics to wear and collect. But the best, of course, will only be available through special lootboxes obtained with real money. Or the grind will be so tedious you might as well buy them. And HOPEFULLY these lootboxes can be bought with in game currency. If not? Well, its expensive to make games.
