I see posts where people are excited to get them or have gotten the combo they were hoping for and I get it can be fun to get the new shiny item type, but I can't help feeling "this is it?" the entire time. As far as I can tell it's just a small boost to normal weapon stats such as handling, range, etc - and I get that that can be nice, especially on certain weapons, but it just doesn't really seem to compensate enough for the static loot?
I just don't see this "fixing" anything. I'm a strong believer that the game will never reach its full potential with all gear being the same, and this just seems like such a minor, trivial change. I don't feel nearly as incentivised to grind (compared to D1) nor do I feel like they are contributing anywhere near what they did before. It just... it seems like the absolute bare minimum possible for Bungie to be able to say "we did something you wanted!".
I'm really, really not trying to complain just for the sake of it and I know there are PLENTY of other, bigger issues with the game... it just feels like this was the patch that was meant to fix some of our larger concerns and that it isn't going to do that. It feels like in ten years this franchise will be best when played in reverse; starting with the last game, then this one, and ending with D1. It's crazy that taking that route will actually give you new and more exciting content as you move between games.

3 RepliesAre you trippin bro? It drops an orb after 2 kills for you AND your teammates. You know how fast you can get your super?

1 ReplyMasterworks in d2 = inverse shadow in d1. A functionally useless pvp trait, but an obnoxiously important pve trait. Me and my wingman were grinding heroic strikes. He has a new city smg with range and my Uriel’s has a range perk on it that I bought. The orb creation and therefore the super generation is the best thing bungie did. I do see the perk itself as essentially insignificant although the range buff on smgs might be pretty lethal in crucible. But the orbs... the sweet sweet orbs... I really tip my hat to bungie on that. Excellent idea. Excellent excellent delivery. Im a top tier player and I finally, FINALLY have something worth grinding for. Better devils is next on my list followed by sins if I can’t get one to drop

The whole game is underwhelming and you thought Masterworks wouldn't? Lower your expections. Nothing good will ever come to Destiny 2.
-
I see a lot more supers now because of the extra orbs, and you can even collect your own, so it benefits solo players as well. Yeah the other perks are meh at best, but I'm down just for the extra orbs.
-
Well it’s exactly what I excepted when they showed it, super underwhelming before it was even in place
-
If anything it’s like many others have stated. It’s a sort of bandaid to help with problems in D2. Personally I’d chalk it up more to destiny 2 is having a massive heart attack and coronary failure and needs a bypass operation stat. They have to get to where they can operate and the people that can do the operation need time. Currently we are still at the house with D2 withering on the floor and bungie is giving them aspirin and some water to help hold D2 over and keep it alive until they can get to operating, and fix major things. It’s the quickest, best and most things they could possibly do for the time being with the situation they are in.

4 RepliesI've picked up 5 or 6 masterwork weapons. The only one I've kept is sins of the past with plus 10 to reload speed.
-
People are saying it's a step in the right direction. It feels more like a casual glance in the right direction.

The biggest cheer I give to Masterwork weapons is the fact that it generates orbs. Even my most boring Legendaries now are more fun than any exotic weapon that I have in my inventory. I will sing the praises of that orb generation perk till the day Destiny 2 dies. But I am also not naive, the Masterwork implementation is nothing more than a band-aid, a cool, shiny, "check it out it glows in the dark" band-aid, but a band-aid none the less. Will I drill into Bungie for this? No, cause as much as I want Taken King level of QoL changes now, I realize Bungie is getting ready for the Christmas season. So Bungie, get some rest, have some fun (or in this case, recall what fun is), and come back recharged. Cause come the new year, we will be here tapping our feet with a skeptical gaze awaiting to hear these grand changes you claim to have coming down the pipeline caused by our feedback.

4 RepliesIt's a band-aid, and too little to make a difference. Anything short of reducing TTK/Turning up Power, widening the upper and lower bounds of perks and stats so you can actually feel them, and then bringing back RNG rolls on weapons isn't going to do anything. What's missing is the experience of equipping a new gun and going "Oh yeah!!, I can feel the difference." In D2 even with mods and MW the perks are so watered down and gains are so incremental that it's nearly impossible to feel the difference between most guns of the same archetype without switching back and forth ten times. Everything is just OK, because they can't sacrifice balance for the sake of PvP.

you can generate orbs for your self. thats a novum

Edited by Eqitx: 12/14/2017 7:15:34 PMNo you are not the only one disappointed
-
5 Repliesrealistically we have to understand that balance means everything so the bonuses are going to be minimal to ensure that the scales don't tip to far in any direction.. its marginally ads to the stats but, nothing stupendous.

7 RepliesEdited by DaCannonnn: 12/14/2017 6:28:43 PMThey reek of after-thought.

Edited by mjassassin209: 12/14/2017 7:12:28 PMi think IF and thats a BIG "IF" Bungie can evolve the masterworks and go more into depth with the perks instead off a ffew set rolls and how it makes that gun more powerful and unique also I hope it moves over to the armor than i will be excited, as of now im just not.
-
4 RepliesI'm pretty sure no matter what Bungie did many of you would find reason to complain about it
-
Its an OK start - I want to see perks in place of a mere stat boost. I don't think masterworks is done yet. But at least its starting to get somewhere.
-
I've broken down all the ones I've received so far and will create one on a gun I actually use when I get enough. The stat boosts are minimal and won't have much affect on anything. The better perk is that the gun will create orbs. This is Bungo indirectly boosting super charge rates.
-
6 RepliesThe orb gen is great. The drop rate on MW guns blows. Should be 5 cores to upgrade and 1 to re roll with the current drop rates. Looking forward to range boosting all my HCs.
-
The stat boosts are underwhelming, vut the orbs of light are fantastic. So much faster to get a super now.
-
Don’t know broke my hand
-
1 Replyyeah not worth the hype
-
can't say much since I've only been using one masterworked weapon but the orb generation is really nice. Now I just need to run into more people that have masterworked stuff to see how much supers can be used in group activities.
-
Orb creation is amazing. Supers for days man. Gonna be pretty stoked when I have enough cores to MW my preferred weapons like Nameless, positive Outlook, etc. I dropped an MW scathelocke that I'm having ton of fun with. Orbs everywhere.
-
3 RepliesI don't even know how to get the components. I dismantle stuff from Season 2, but 0 components. Even in season 1, I've never gotten mod components from dismantling things. I think I'm bugged.
-
Its pretty good. A bonus impact quickfang can 1 shot yellow health vex targets at the start of the IO strike. And make many orbs for fast supers.
