Destination/Activity: Crash occurs across all activities, though seems to happen more quickly in scenes with more action happening.
Description: I am having the same problem mentioned in many posts across the PC Support section of this forum in which my entire computer crashes after playing Destiny 2 for a short time. Windows Event Viewer reports Event 41 Kernel Power as many other people have reported. I have tried deleting the cvars as officially recommended by Bungie as well as many "fixes" from around the forum, but nothing has worked.
Here is a link to one of the similar posts: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/237254894?sort=0&page=0
UPDATE: After playing for several hours across two days and not having any crashes, I thought my issue was resolved. However, I just experienced the same sort of hard crash that was happening before. The steps I took before seem to have vastly reduced the frequency of crashes (from about every 5 minutes to several hours of play across a few days), but any hard crashing such as this is unacceptable in a AAA game like this. Running the Direct X diagnostic again, I found that my antivirus software, Webroot Secure Anywhere, has taken the number one spot on the Diagnostics list. Ridiculous that Bungie's game is potentially causing problems with my antivirus that crash my entire computer. I'd like to reiterate that this is the ONLY game I'm having this issue with. I have attached the rest of the diagnostics list below and I will update if I find out anything new

@Bungie: I showed you my error report, pls respond.
UPDATE 2 (12/21/2017): Game is still crashing. DXDiag yields no more helpful diagnostics to me, but I will upload a new one here. No response from Bungie. Been trying to enjoy Dawning event. Ground out the strikes to get the Dawning gift boon. Pop it in a Crucible match, game crashes before the match is over. I lose the Dawning gift boon and don't even receive the gift for it. FML. This is not okay. I was considering purchasing some silver to supplement the daily grind for the Dawning loot, but the non-existent assistance from Bungie is not something I want to support. Bungie why are you silent?

Hi did you ever fully resolve this hard shutdown issue? I've got exactly the same problem as you and many other people and I was wondering if the DxDiag driver theory would work for me. Would you be able to help me identify a potential cause if I post a section of my DxDiag here?
-
Due to someone mentioning AV, I thought I'd try disabling Windows live AV support, and guess what? No crashes. Only ever crashed on Mercury, but I've crashed 4 times tonight before I disabled AV, and it's now playing perfectly with zero issues. I think it's the AV that's trolling us.

2 RepliesEdited by Gamerguy_678: 12/21/2017 11:00:36 PMUPDATE: It's not fixed. Read the original post for some more info. Uninstalling Corsair Link seems to have reduced the frequency of crashes, but not fixed them. I think I've found a solution thanks to @suttungur My understanding is that Direct X initializes connected USB devices for Direct Input, but the Corsair Link drivers are actually for my water cooling pump that plugs into a USB header on my motherboard, not an actual input device. I guess this causes some kind of error within Direct X causing everything to crash. After uninstalling the Corsair Link software (it's not necessary it seems unless I want to control the LED's on the pump) and disabling the Corsair USBXp driver under the USB Controllers section of Device Manager I was able to play for several hours with no crashes. I'd assume that drivers for my water cooler wouldn't be the only ones to cause such an error. To anybody else having this same sort of issue, run DxDiag (Windows Key + R, then type dxdiag.exe and run) and save the information in a text file. Check at the very bottom of the text file where the diagnostics section is. For each reported error event, check the P1 part of the problem signature to see if there is a recognizable program causing the error. In my case it was CorsairLink4.Service.exe. Try uninstalling the software/disabling its associated drivers, then try playing the game to see if the crashes have been resolved. Hope this helps somebody. If you'd like some more assistance with this troubleshooting, just reply on this thread. I will be keeping an eye on it so that I can help as many people resolve this issue as possible.
