I didn't do the quest for the Legend of Acrius before the dlc dropped because I took a break from D2 and thought I could always go back to the game and do the quest. Now that the first dlc has released, I can't do it anymore, because I'm light level 305 and it's recommend 330, which I can't get to unless I buy the dlc. I'm not gonna buy the dlc in order to keep playing the vanilla content, that is simply unacceptable and disgusting. Not to mention prestige activities. It's not that I don't have the money for the dlc, I just don't want to buy because of what I have heard about it.
I paid full price for the game at launch and now it is asking for even more money from you to keep playing it, and if you don't, pretty much all incentive to keep playing is lost. It's not like this in other games I play (Battlefield 4, Battlefield 1, Dark Souls series, For Honor, etc.). I'm just gonna play those instead from now on and pop in once a while for a strike or two. Let me know if you agree or disagree.
EDIT: the problem is, this is a weapon you could get pre-release of dlc. Now you have to pay to get the weapon. Unacceptable.
EDIT2: Technically it's not locked, you just have to fight 330 dudes as a 305.

22 RepliesEdited by GraciousEel761: 12/7/2017 6:23:51 PMHow clever. You should have done it in the 3 months up to the CoO launch. If you are still playing the game, why do you not have the DLC? Oh wait, I know why. Its because this is just a clever troll post. The guy has 2 lvl 300 characters but couldn't find the time to get the Exotic Quest done? I don't buy it. Clever troll is so clever.

1 ReplyIsn't it funny how I went and bought the Prometheus Lens today from Xur without owning the DLC (used the weapon as well!), and yet I can no longer get a D2 vanilla exotic unless I buy the DLC?
And by "funny" I a mean f u c king stupid
Wait hold up, people don't even play the base game, then once dlc drops and locks out the base game that players don't play anymore they get upset and whine. Don't get me wrong I'm not defending bungie for this either but shouldn't we have expected this it happened in the first game what's to stop them from doing it in the sequel. You've been on bungie.net for 2 years so don't tell me that you didn't see this coming either.

3 RepliesNo it isn't. The weapon you can still get without paying. You just can't complete the final step which gives you the ornament. You can still do the standard 300 difficulty raid.
-
6 RepliesCan you not do the quest in the normal mode raid? Or does it have to be prestige to do it?

1 ReplyAnnnnd..... https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/237388505/0/0 Use for your thread if u wish. We attempted to have this NOT happen.

1 ReplyWith all the people defending this money grab behavior we might need a new acronym. We already have the BDF. Might as well add the BEF...Bungie Enabler Force. Letting gaming companies get away with shit like this "enables" them to continue and expand the practice. Push the boundaries of what is acceptable. I can't see how anyone can defend this. It doesn't matter if the product is $20 or $1000 it's still shady and needs to be called out.
-
3 RepliesDo people actually play the game without buying the next expansion? Why? I think you just want to complain about something. It's $20 one time. I get not wanting to support bungie but if $20 is too much to spring I suggest finding a job.

2 RepliesWell... How else are they going to get you to spend more money? Through their compelling end game content and rewards? With a new compelling story line? Maybe they can tell us about that 'Wizard from the Moon'... One thing you will find you still have access too is the 'Brigth Engram' store where you can Buy silver... At least they did not take that end game content away right? Everything has a SILVER lining if you look hard enough.

Edited by Fury 82ND: 12/6/2017 10:10:41 PMBungie is so shady that it makes me sick to see how they treat their fan base. Bungie, as an organization, is completely garbage. Sorry dude.

6 RepliesNo it's not. The ornament is. 300 raid is all you require to get the weapon.
-
Wow they upped the recommended light level for the normal raid? I thought it was only the prestige version that they made the level a lot higher? He'll then again I also thought they fixed the problem where you loot a chest and get nothing from it looks like I was wrong on both points...

7 RepliesThe weapon itself is gained from doing the normal Leviathan, which you still have access to. Therefore, the weapon itself is not locked behind a paywall. The ornament for said weapon is.
