Whatever happened to good music?
Why are the popular songs so similar and boring? How come pop songs you've heard a few years ago never come into the radio again, but songs that have been made hundreds of years ago are still very widely known? Where's the talent gone in the art of music?
Edit: I'm not saying that all of today's music is bad, just most that consist in the pop genre aren't as good as they should be compared to how it was, say 30-50 years ago

It’s very simple. All the good music from 50 years ago is remembered today, whereas the shit was forgotten. But all the shit from today is still around so when we compare it with the past music we think there’s a disparity, but in actuality there isn’t.

We live in a time where it has never been easier and cheaper to record, produce, and distribute your own music. There's TONS of great artists out there. Just because you aren't trying to find them doesn't mean they don't exist. Turn off the Top 40 radio and hunt down some Spotify playlists.

The fact that the Popstar Manufacturing Line has been tarted up and rubbed in peoples faces and still been a resounding success speaks volumes. You arent necessarily unintelligent for liking Pop Music, but its disposable nature and increasing lack of front-stage talent still receiving rapturous plaudits from many is depressing. Its not hard to pick a smart pop fan from the problematic sheep.

There's always gonna be shitty music and dumb people who like it. See, most people [i]are[/i] dumb, so you get all the shitty music being bumped up on whatever lists. It's like fast food. It really isn't [i]actually[/i] good, but people like it nonetheless. Not every musician can be Elton John. Not every chef can be Jiro. Not every architect can be Wright. You get a lot of Rihanna's and Paul Dean's and Gehry's because people have a hard time distinguishing actual talent.

I like my late 90's and early 2000's rock as well. I dislike when rock bands turn poppy to appeal to a bigger crowd tho, an example of this would be like Linkin Park. It literally killed them IMO.
