What you need to understand about the livestream cancelation

So I’m seeing a lot of misinformed opinionated posts about the news. For those who do not know what I’m referring to: the bungie livestream for curse of Osiris today was cancelled. Instead bungie will be making a large blog post on their website/app. So you are all entitled to your own opinions on the matter. However, I feel it’s important you guys understand what’s happening. Today was going to be another typical livestream showing off some armor and weapons and new changes. Lately though public discontent with the state of destiny 2 is at an all time high. Many complaints about the game are surfacing. So instead of the fashion show bungie will be posting a blog post in direct response to the communities feedback. Now the point I want to make is that many people are upset and making claims about bungie that simply aren’t true. The number of posts and youtube videos that claim bungie isn’t listening or bungie is lying is staggering. This is what this cancellation is about. Instead of ignoring complaints and continuing full steam ahead with their livestream bungie is taking the time to address these issues. They know there is problems and taking action to open a dialogue with the community about these problems. I for one believe this is fantastic. I love destiny and will always stand by bungie but even I can admit there are problems. However, I believe this is a very positive step in fixing these issues. So before you complain and rage, take the time to look at this blog. The studio is reaching out to you telling you they messed up and they want to make it right. These people poured their hearts into this game and they want it to be better just as much as you do. Lastly for all the people upset about the xp debacle. You have every right to be upset. In the midst of all the scandal with micro transactions this was not a pleasant discovery. But if you come out and make hateful comments about how bungie is full of liars and thieves, then you are simply wrong. Bungie immediately reacted, clearly confirming that this was indeed happening and taking steps to improve it. They never hid it from you, and they immediately took the blame. It shows me this company is dedicated to righting those wrongs that are out there. So please keep the door open with bungie and keep the feedback constructive. Bungie is doing their part it’s time for the community to do theirs. TL:DR - the livestream was cancelled for a blog post where bungie is going to address all the problems with the game. Give it a read and make your judgements then. Let’s make community feedback constructive to support a company that is genuinely trying to make things better.

  • Yes, they did hide it from us. They only changed it because they got caught and called out on it. As for everything else I'm rooting for the game to get better. They've made mind boggling stupid changes to it but it's still a decent game.

  • I’m willing to listen, but am unwilling to believe, until concrete action is taken to correct the multiple flaws in D2. I still play it, but it’s not as fun as D1.

  • I feel like your hoping for a lot more than this will actually give us, like the first month of the game where players were going on about trials matchmaking, state of tokens, drops, lack of content and re-playability and bungies community response was; we are looking into the huge response towards shaders...we hear you guardians :/ think this post would have been better after the post comes out if they actually address all the issues WE want them too not the ones they want to address

  •
Today was going to be another typical livestream showing off some armor and weapons and new changes.
Incorrect. When they announced that Mark and Luke were being brought in to explain the future of D2 they mentioned that they would not be just showing a few armour reveals. Here's the thing. If you have seen even a single interview with Luke and Mark you'll know how arrogant and self puffed up their egos are. I'm betting good money that this whole backlash and explosion of negative opinion for the shady tactics of Activision and EA has them on the back foot. They thought they were infallible and now it's come back to bite them. The community warned them this was coming way back in D1 when they made arbitrary changes that no-one asked for and then TOLD the community that the changes were because we were not playing the game the way they wanted us to. Yes it was THAT arrogant. Basically saying "You paid for this game now STFU and do as we say". There is no way that Activision has not come down hard on Bungie over this mess. Activision are wrongly blamed for the decisions that have in large part been 100% made by Luke and Mark. It's a simple case of power corrupting. It really does make people feel they are untouchable. It's how Nero, King Tut etc. etc. all met their fates. Slowly but surely forgetting that reality applies equally to all things even them.

    • I mean, they could have done this on steam? Luke is probs to lazy to go on steam so axed it. Or they realised the other 2 were naff and/or can't bare to face the community complaints in person.
